Author's reply
Yes you were right. And poor, poor Merry! I`m glad you like it!

Dreamflower · 18 February 2005 · Chapter 7: PART SEVEN: Bath time
Oh dear! Poor Merry and poor Pippin! Complications--somehow I knew there would be complications! I hope Frodo gets there soon... Pippin is just so sweet in this; I just want to cuddle him up, poor little thing, so worried about his Merry. And I loved the bit where Merry didn't want Eglantine to give him his bath. He's reached the age of modesty now. The little rhyme was just adorable, and so hobbity!
Author's reply
No proper h/c without complications, eh? :) Thank you!
shirebound · 18 February 2005 · Chapter 7: PART SEVEN: Bath time
Oh no! He was so much better, then suddenly worse! *frets and paces*
Author's reply
Yup. I`m afraid he`s worse again now. No proper h/c without some complications, eh? *frets and paces with you* ;)
Andrea · 18 February 2005 · Chapter 7: PART SEVEN: Bath time
OMG, poor Merry! I thought he was on the mend already, but now it's really getting serious. Let's hope the healer arrives soon! And what's that about Frodo? I'm counting on him to arrive soon and healthy to give Merry (and Pippin) some comfort. Special thanks to Melilot Hill for the wonderful rhyme! In other news I'm glad to inform you, that I did not get the pox :)
Author's reply
I`m glad you didn`t get the pox then! And yes, Merry is worse now. *evil grin* No proper h/v without some complications, eh? and Frodo will come. Thank you for reading!
Ariel · 18 February 2005 · Chapter 7: PART SEVEN: Bath time
Am I a sicko for being glad for this complication? Hehehehe... Very exciting, Anso! I am eagerly awaiting your next chapter! Spinal meningitis eh? Kewl...
Author's reply
Nope, you`re not that. In that case what am I for writing this and inflicting this on my poor Merry in the first place? :) Allthough right shall be right, it was Marigold`s idea with these complicatioins. *evil grin*. Can`t have a proper h/c without complicating things, now can we? :) I`m glad you like it!
Dreamflower · 14 February 2005 · Chapter 6: PART SIX: Letters and games
Still so very sweet; I love how grown-up Pippin is behaving, in contrast to his childish thoughts and worries. I'm glad Merry was able to wake up and feel a bit better--poor lad won't be up to much for while, I suspect, but a few games in bed, and maybe some stories. Whee! Frodo will be coming, and I will get to see my favorite thing: all three cousins together.
Author's reply
Yes, Merry won't be up to much yet and Frodo is coming.
shirebound · 14 February 2005 · Chapter 6: PART SIX: Letters and games
“I know, Pippin, and if I can`t do something to be rid of them soon I`m going to go mad.” “Well wouldn`t that be interesting. How would we know?” Pippin said, trying to tease Awwww! And Frodo is coming, too? Lovely!
Author's reply
Lol, yes. Pippin is happy Merry is better and now Frodo is coming! :)
Pearl Took · 11 February 2005 · Chapter 5: PART FIVE: Tonic and tea
“What are you thinking about, Pippin-lad?” Eglantine had noticed how her little energy-bundle of a lad had suddenly grown into this quiet child. That he would not leave his Merry for all in the world did not surprise her, but his care and tending of his older cousin, Pippin’s behaviour so quiet and considerate, was an eye-opener. She knew they were devoted to each other, and had seen Merry behave similarly towards Pippin, but seeing it the other way around was new to her, and she was proud of her son. Wonderful, just plain wonderful! This is a beautiful story!!!
Author's reply
Oh, thank you! :)
pipinheart · 11 February 2005 · Chapter 5: PART FIVE: Tonic and tea
Very nice...They call in the healer, but she isn't overly-concerned... Pippin gets worried at the sight of her as he has had frequent visits from her. He has a fever but says that isn't unusual. Pippin sits and trys to help Merry through this illness, and ironicaly gets his hand trapped.(Very amuzing) His mother arrives to help him out and a talk. Nice work, continue soon...

Periantari · 10 February 2005 · Chapter 5: PART FIVE: Tonic and tea
aww i love the interaction between Eglantine with Pippin at the end.. and i love the fact that Pippin's hand was stuck between Merry and the pillow~ awww~ :D hope the healer is right about it not being a bad illness... but i feel that with h/c fics, healers tend to be wrong. ;) keep this up~ i really like it so far. =) (will we get Merry's point of view soon? ;) =)
Author's reply
Thank you! I can`t say much or I would spoil the story but there will be some from Merry`s POV too. :)
Elanor1013 · 10 February 2005 · Chapter 5: PART FIVE: Tonic and tea
I just read the last two parts. :) Keep going!! I love how Merry is being cared for lovingly, but you aren't overdoing it. great balance of characters and comfort and sickness and everything.
Author's reply
I`m glad you like it! Thank you for your nice comment. I wouldn`t want to overdo things. :)

shirebound · 10 February 2005 · Chapter 5: PART FIVE: Tonic and tea
*sigh* This is so sweet, and Pippin's child-thoughts and logic are just perfectly described. And this just makes me melt: "Eglantine had noticed how her little energy-bundle of a lad had suddenly grown into this quiet child. That he would not leave his Merry for all in the world did not surprise her, but his care and tending of his older cousin, Pippin’s behaviour so quiet and considerate, was an eye-opener. Andrea · 8 February 2005 · Chapter 4: PART FOUR: Watching and waiting
Is it really chicken pox? What a coincidence! Let me tell you a litte story: Two weeks and a couple of days ago, my brother caught the very same illness. Well, since then I've been waiting for any itching spots, but luckily nothing has occured so far. I'm a lot older than Merry is in this story... Please continue this great story and let me see what possibly awaits me ;-)
Author's reply
Oh, then I hope you won`t get it. It is said that the period a person is contagious is about two weeks. Thank you for reading.
Ariel · 8 February 2005 · Chapter 4: PART FOUR: Watching and waiting
This chapter was very nicely written - well balanced and with appropriate angst. I love angst (as you probably know) but it works best when it isn't overdone just for angst value - if you know what I mean. This story has so far earned its angst very honestly and it is a delight to read because of it.
Author's reply
Oh, thank you for such nice words! i do try to balance the angst and h/c. I like to be realistic in my writing and try to make what happens and what people feel how it would be in real life.
Larner · 8 February 2005 · Chapter 4: PART FOUR: Watching and waiting
I feel sorry for both our lads. Loving the story so far.
Author's reply
Yes, they are both having a rough time at the moment, aren`t they? And thank you. I`m glad you like it!
pipinheart · 8 February 2005 · Chapter 4: PART FOUR: Watching and waiting
Nice... Pippin tries to sit with Merry but he is so impatient and wants Merry to wake up.. Merry is sick and dosen't like the feeling. Eglantina is worryed about Merry, since he is as precious to her as her own children... Nice story, caan't wait to hear more...
Author's reply
Well, Merry is never ill and not really used to the feeling and Pippin isn`t used to it either so that when he finally sits with Merry he gets impatient when nothing happen. Merry stays so much with his Took familiy that Eglantine would be like a second mother to him. I think both Merry and Pippin spend very much time together with the other one`s family and thus get a extra set of parents in their aunt and uncle, and for Merry`s part a set of sisters in Pippin`s sisters.
Periantari · 7 February 2005 · Chapter 3: PART THREE: It begins
I've never read sick Merry fics before but i must admit that i like it as much as Frodo sick fics.. hehe ;) i hope Merry gets better soon~ but i like the gentle comfort that you have in this chapter and the genuine concern that Pippin and his mom have for Merry. Poor Merry~ =( have the Chicken Pox, eh? ::excited to read more::
Author's reply
Thank you for your kind words! I`m glad you like it. And welcome to the world of sick Merry fics then. I write a lot of that, and half my stories are a Merry h/c in one way or other.
Pearl Took · 7 February 2005 · Chapter 4: PART FOUR: Watching and waiting
This continues to be well written and an enjoyable story!!! Poor Merry!
Author's reply
Thank you! And yes, poor Merry.
Lindelea · 7 February 2005 · Chapter 4: PART FOUR: Watching and waiting
p.s. would hobbits know about oatmeal baths to help with the itching?
Author's reply
Well, do you want a spoiler then? Yes they would know about that. Thanks to Marigold I might add. I didn`t know about it untill she researched it to understand the illness better herself.
Lindelea · 7 February 2005 · Chapter 4: PART FOUR: Watching and waiting
Yes, the whole smial is waiting to see how Merry will be. Myself included! Looking forward to more.
Author's reply
Everyone is unfamiliar with this and thus I think the whole family will be feeling everything that happens more keenly than they do when Pippin is sick, since that happens so often. Of course, they don`t love him less for being sick often but new things are often more keenly felt.
Lindelea · 7 February 2005 · Chapter 3: PART THREE: It begins
Such an ominous title as this chapter has! Glad Pippin has already been sick with it. Wise Eglantine. Sweet Pervinca!
Author's reply
Thanks! yes, well I`m not that good with titles but this is really the start of things :) Oh, and in respons to your respons to my comment, I wouldn`t be upset by spoilers... :)
shirebound · 7 February 2005 · Chapter 4: PART FOUR: Watching and waiting
I love how devoted the cousins are to one another. "I have watched over you all morning and it is time that you woke up so I can make you better.” Awwww!
Author's reply
lol, yes. They are really devoted and I think Pippin wants to make up for all the times Merry has sat watching over him when he`s ill.
Dreamflower · 7 February 2005 · Chapter 4: PART FOUR: Watching and waiting
Aaawww...poor Merry; and poor Pip, just wanting to help, and too little to really understand how. It's so sweet that he is managing to curb his natural energy for his dear Merry. And I love how concerned Eglantine and Paladin are being--I'm worried for Pippin's sisters, though. They are older as well, especially Pearl, and you seemed to indicate they'd not had it either. Hope the healer will have something to make Merry feel better. I wonder what the hobbity equivalent of calamine lotion would be? You have captured so well the feeling of how it is in a family when one member is sick like that. It's a shame Pippin didn't get to tell his story to Merry yet...
Author's reply
Oh, thank you for your kind words! I think Pippin is really trying and he so wants to help as Merry has helped him so much when he has been ill. The lasses are having a rough time of this too, yes, and it is especially tough on Pearl as the oldest. Merry is like another brother to them I think. The healer will come, and she will have a remedy... :)
