Oo, lovely AU! I had no idea what to expect, right to the end.

Author's reply

Yay! I'm not usually very adept at "misdirection". :D

Jay of Lasgalen · 22 July 2006 · Chapter 7: Half Elven

*Grin* I like this! Poor Elrond. I'm sure this is a new and fascinating experience he could do without, though. I've often wondered if their human blood would make Elrond and his sons more susceptible to illnesses - but generally decided that their Elven heritage outweighs it. With the destruction of Vilya though, who knows?

Author's reply

Yes, Elrond is still enjoying the unusual experience... But just wait until he's all congested, and needs softer pocket handkerchiefs for his sore, runny nose! Yes, exactly! Who knows what Vilya's influence might have had on Elrond, and his entire family?

Linda Hoyland · 22 July 2006 · Chapter 7: Half Elven

WHat a unique idea ! Maybe the destruction of the RIng has damaged Elrond's immune systen too.How sweet that Frodo wants to see him.

Author's reply

This was fun to write! Something just a little bit different. :D

Linda Hoyland · 22 July 2006 · Chapter 6: Trust

I very interesting AU of one of my favourites scenes, which I recently explored from BOromir's POV. I love the way the men are so caring with the Hobbits here.

Author's reply

HOW I wish this scene had been in the movie! Leaving Moria was such a traumatic, wearying event, with everyone so grieved and in need of a moment together.

lotrgirl1415 · 21 July 2006 · Chapter 7: Half Elven

HAHAHA! ---“New and fascinating experiences? Like what?” Frodo asked, puzzled. Suddenly, from the sickroom, came a thunderous sneeze, followed by an awed “My goodness!” “Like that,” Aragorn grinned.--- I LOVED THAT!!!It was awesome I can die happy now.*dies happy* wait I dont want to die yet....*revives self....somehow* I must live on to read all of your other stories !lol xoxoxoxo ~Katie

Author's reply

Oh gosh, don't die yet, even if it's happy! Our beloved hobbits, rangers, and sneezy old Elves will be entertaining us for many years to come. Thank you so much. I'm happy this entertained you so! :D

lotrgirl1415 · 21 July 2006 · Chapter 3: Stubborn As Can Be

AspenJules · 21 July 2006 · Chapter 7: Half Elven

ROFL!!! Ok, that was an unexpected surprise! I'm having trouble typing I'm still laughing so hard. A sneeze *is* a wondrous thing, isn't it? Kind of reminds me of the time my young niece (4 or 5 years old) threw up after spinning around on a swing too long, and went hysterical because she had no idea what she had just done. I tried to comfort her, but it was difficult with how hard I was giggling. *walks away laughing*

Author's reply

Glad this gave you a giggle! I suspect Aragorn is trying hard not to let his amusement show. *huge grin*

AspenJules · 21 July 2006 · Chapter 6: Trust

Ah... Faramir... I love him. One of the Professor's most noble characters, gentle, loving, quietly going about doing his duty without much hope of love, respect or honor from the one he should most expect to receive it from. What *would* the story have been like had it been Faramir at that council. Boromir alive, Denethor alive to challenge Aragorn's claim to the throne, probably no Gollum guiding Frodo and Sam to the Cracks of Doom, and the ultimate question - how *would* th Ring have been thrown in? Guess all was as it had to be, but still... how I LOVE Faramir!

Author's reply

I adore Faramir, and am so pleased that he was one of the characters who found love and happiness after the War.

AspenJules · 21 July 2006 · Chapter 5: Healing Hands

Oooohhhh *moans softly* there is absolutely nothing better than a good foot rub. It's amazing how it can make your whole body feel better. Good old Merry, passing that along to the King. Figures that hobbits especially, going barefoot all the time, would appreciate them most of all. And I love the picture of Frodo, trusting *his* King enough to sag against him, showing his weakness, and Aragorn recognizing the honor. Poor broken Frodo, how I wish he could have found healing in the Shire, surrounded by his friends and family. *sigh*

Author's reply

Frodo deserved so much more healing than his beloved Shire was able to give him. I think that's why I write so many "happily ever after on Tol Eressea" stories... just to be able to imagine him well, healed, and getting a second chance at happiness.

AspenJules · 21 July 2006 · Chapter 4: The Best We Have

There is simply something delightful in the idea of a hobbit pile. I was hoping for one for my birthday, but alas... maybe next year, LOL. I love Gimli looking at the pile of blankets in consternation and asking "Which one is Pippin?" LOLOL Such a foreign concept to humans, (and elves and dwarves, I guess) but it just seems such a natural, hobbity thing.

Author's reply

*hobbits make a snuggly pile all over you* :D

AspenJules · 21 July 2006 · Chapter 1: Seeing Isn't Always Believing

I read these months ago on ff.net, but it's delightful to read them again. I could just *hear* Elrond's musical, soothing voice in "Safe", assuring Frodo that his friends were well, and he soon would be, and that he'd reached Rivendell at last. The descriptrion was so wonderfully done. Of course, I loved the idea that the camp almost erupted in violence at the announcement that the Ringbearers needed clothes. I would have loved to watch Eomer wade into the fray and settle it, just like a straightforward, level-headed Rohirrim would. And the mental image of the 3 pairs of battle-roughened hands, all so different - one King of men, one beautiful ageless Elven prince, and one brusque dwarf, but their hands declaring their brotherhood, all gently dressing the poor, thin, battered hobbit bodies. Beautiful imagery there, Shirebound. And last... it makes me laugh *every* time - "It's that hobbit in the mirror who *really* needs a bath, if you ask me." ROFL! Love it!

Author's reply

Awww, thank you for reading these again. I haven't yet posted chapters 6 and 7 to ff.net. their hands declaring their brotherhood Oh my, what a beautiful phrase!

Elemmírë · 21 July 2006 · Chapter 7: Half Elven

Sweet, sweet, dear Frodo wanting to cheer Elrond with no matter to his own ills. Sigh. Love that little hobbit. Elrond reminded me of Data on Star Trek: TNG, always eager to experience new aspects of humanity. Hope Elrond feels better soon. (sends him over a clean stack of pocket handkercheifs)

Author's reply

Data! That's a wonderful analogy. And Elrond is *thrilled* with the pocket handkerchiefs. Bilbo got him used to having one, I suspect. *grins* Thank you, my friend.

Elemmírë · 21 July 2006 · Chapter 6: Trust

Faramir!!! What a pleasant surprise!! >>"He should not have left you alone," the man insisted, his suspicions about this Ranger of the North not entirely at rest. "He did not," Frodo said, turning to him. The hobbit's remarkable eyes shone suddenly. "He left us with you.” He suddenly grimaced in pain, his breath growing short.<< Any chance of continuing this with another short that focuses on Frodo and Sam's healing (with Faramir, of course)? P.S. I've noticed when you quote your favorite lines of a story, etc you post them in the review in italics. How do you do that in a review? Is it the same as when posting a story?

Author's reply

I'll put the "Faramir" idea into the story idea folder! You never know... When I write a story, it's as a word doc -- with all the bold, italic, etc. formatting visible (not coded). In other words, on the screen, you see bold words, italic words, etc., not code. Then I "save as" html, remove the extra paragraphing, and post it. I preview preview preview chapters at SOA before they go public, so they look exactly right. I code reviews the same way we have to code things on Livejournal -- with html coding. Anything in italics, for example, is bracketed by <*i*> and <*/i*> (without the asterisks) to make italic, etc.

Frodo Baggins · 21 July 2006 · Chapter 3: Stubborn As Can Be

Ha, Ha! That's cute! I suppose they could look pretty offending, if you've never seen one before. But I'm glad Frodo finally learned to like them. Bananas are a pain to spell but oh so good to eat! Yum! God Bless, Frodo Baggins

Author's reply

I adore bananas, and now Frodo knows that he does, as well! :D

Frodo Baggins · 21 July 2006 · Chapter 4: The Best We Have

That was really cool. Sweet Hobbits. And Boromir really did have a soft spot for the Hobbits, I think. GOod show, shirebound! God Bless, Frodo Baggins

Author's reply

Thank you, Frodo. I love showing Boromir as a Man of "quality", as I originally did in "Avalanche". And how could anyone not have a soft spot for hobbits? :D

Frodo Baggins · 21 July 2006 · Chapter 5: Healing Hands

WOw. "seeing Isn't Always Believing" is an untapped gold mine! Or an discovered Dragon lair without the dragon...but the point is, this collection of stories is wonderful! This one in particular is sad and sweet. Poor Frodo! But then the first one was happy! You do throw me on a wild ride of emotions! LOL! God Bless, Frodo Baggisn

Author's reply

Wow, thank you so much, my friend. I do love writing scenarios in which Frodo can get all the comfort, respect, and tender care he deserves. And if there's a spot for some gentle teasing or humor... All the better!

Frodo Baggins · 21 July 2006 · Chapter 6: Trust

WOw. That was really cool. So like his brother, and yet so different. That was definitely AU, but what if Faramir *had* been sent in his brother's stead, as Denethor later wished? Maybe Frodo would not have left, maybe...there are so many possibilities, no? That was really intriguing. Hannon le. Namarie! God Bless, Frodo Baggins

Author's reply

Isn't it fascinating to think about all the "what if" scenarios? Fan fiction is such a joy. :D

Frodo Baggins · 21 July 2006 · Chapter 7: Half Elven

*holding sides with laughter, trying not to fall out of chair* Oh...SHIREBOUND!! That was so funny! I never thought of it that way. To think an Elf would be *amused* by a cold! LOL! THey are such annoying little illnesses. “New and fascinating experiences? Like what?” Frodo asked, puzzled. Suddenly, from the sickroom, came a thunderous sneeze, followed by an awed “My goodness!” “Like that,” Aragorn grinned. That was perfect! LOL! Hannon le! Namarie! GOd Bless, Frodo Baggins

Author's reply

Glad you enjoyed this, Frodo! It's nice to write something giggly once in awhile. :D

Elanor Silmariën · 21 July 2006 · Chapter 7: Half Elven

*heh* That is so funny! God bless, Ellie

Author's reply

Thanks, Ellie! That silly Elf. :D

Queen Galadriel · 2 February 2006 · Chapter 5: Healing Hands

*contented sigh* Ah, I think perhaps my insatiable desire for Frodo h/c-or rather, Frodo h/cccc-has temporarily been satisfied. :) The second fic in this chapter was very poignant, and the first was irresistably sweet! "Don't stop." What a simple request, and one, I think, that anyone would gratify. These brought a smile to my face. God bless, Galadriel

Author's reply

Frodo h/ccccc is such a joy -- to write, and to share! *hugs*

Queen Galadriel · 2 February 2006 · Chapter 4: The Best We Have

Love it, love it! I just love the hobbit-pile! I think everyone is glad Baylor started that. And I love the image of Boromir gently laying his cloak over the pile of small sleepers; even then he was protecting them, if only from the cold. God bless, Galadriel

Author's reply

"pile of small sleepers"... awwww! You should use that phrase sometime. awwwwww :D Thank you, QG!

Queen Galadriel · 2 February 2006 · Chapter 3: Stubborn As Can Be

*grin* Aw! I'm so glad Frodo liked them! And Aragorn is really very lucky to have found something to tempt our favourite hobbit; for I can imagine his appetite might be a bit...how shall I say...capricious just now. Wish I could cook for Frodo. :) God bless, Galadriel

Author's reply

What fun this was. Bananas must have looked very strange to hobbity eyes. :D

Queen Galadriel · 2 February 2006 · Chapter 2: Treasures

Yes, Bilbo gave Frodo exactly what he needed. This is a very sweet little story, and I like the gentle foreshadowing at the end. God bless, Galadriel

Author's reply

Thank you. I love envisioning the love and attention Frodo must have found with Bilbo, a true kindred spirit.

Queen Galadriel · 2 February 2006 · Chapter 1: Seeing Isn't Always Believing

Aww! The last one is my favourite! Poor dear, and so stubborn! God bless, Galadriel

Author's reply

I love stubborn!Frodo! :D

dark9wolfpuppy9 · 8 October 2005 · Chapter 5: Healing Hands

Awwww that was so sweet!

Author's reply

Thank you! :D
