"...he consoled himself with the thought that tomorrow was another day, and he was infinitely cleverer than Merry and Pippin." Don't they teach rangers anything about underestimating the enemy in Dunedain school? Heehee.

Author's reply

Ah, but Aragorn has only had experience in nice, sedate hobbits. Malicious, prank pulling hobbits are not something he is used to! And he is in trouble. ;)

TithenFeredir · 23 June 2005 · Chapter 5: Chapter Five-Bubbles

I dunno about this...Elrond is unhappy, Arwen is upset and snapping at Legolas...it looks to me like Aragorn has shot himself in the foot now. He may just catch it from more than just the hobbits. ...heh-heh... ~TF

Author's reply

I imagine Elrond as being rueful, and Arwen and Legolas seem to have a history of being snappish together: that's how it seemed when I wrote their little confrontation, anyway. I don't know how badly ARagorn has damaged himself, but it should get interesting from here. :)

TithenFeredir · 23 June 2005 · Chapter 4: Chapter Four-Warnings

I can easily see Legolas trying to be the voice of reason while Aragorn plans some outrageous retaliation. And then mild mannered Frodo...who's side is he on, anyway?? Oooo, things are getting tense in Rivendel. Poor Boromir must wonder what sort of a looney bin he's stumbled into! ~TF

Author's reply

Can you just imagine being Boromir, coming to Rivendell on a serious mission, and becoming involved in a prank war with the future King of Gondor? It'll be a learning experience, no doubt. I can just see the journal entry: "Met Aragorn son of Arathorn today. He was filling hobbits' tea with hot spices..." Lol! Frodo is going to be the middle man, I think. And Legolas is going to be the voice of reason for right now. AH, sweet war. :)

Dreamflower · 23 June 2005 · Chapter 5: Chapter Five-Bubbles

*howl*guffaw*gulp*snort*giggle*chortle*sigh*wipes eyes* Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear! So far Frodo seems to be enjoying his cousin's discomfiture, though Sam appears to be on their side. Is Frodo going to feel the same way when he finds out *why* they declared war on Aragorn? And will Legolas and Arwen end up with their own little war going on? *chuckle*giggle*goes back to read latest chapter again*

Author's reply

Frodo is definitely being the middle man here, but Sam is taking the side of the two people he's known longer. Of course, who knows what they'll both do when they find out the reason for this war! Legolas and Arwen seem to have some sort of past history of arguments. I can just see them beating on each other like siblings, for some reason. :)

Tigger · 23 June 2005 · Chapter 5: Chapter Five-Bubbles

Oh my....That was brilliant!! And this...The bubbles were oozing into the hall, a pink and white tinted mess that smelled strangely of strawberries. Alas, poor me was drinking coffee at that moment and I almost got it up my nose. That's painful BTW. ;o) The infamous strawberry soap LIVES!!! :oD Am I right in assuming there's more than just an unmade bed going on w/poor Aragorn? I mean, I can't see Merry just pulling the sheets out and leaving it at that. Right? Looking forward to the next skirmish in this wickedly delightful story. :oD

Author's reply

I'll have to start putting a warning at the top of each chapter, not to drink anything while reading. I was trying to think up a scent for the bubble bath, and it dawned on me that strawberries are just infamous in this fandom. And it worked. :) Short-sheeting the bed was all Merry had strength for this time around, but tomorrow is another day. More will be coming soon!

Silvae · 23 June 2005 · Chapter 5: Chapter Five-Bubbles

Oh, no! Aragorn has got another think coming... Thanks for yet another hilarious chapter. Cheers, Silvae

Author's reply

Yes, he certainly does! Thanks and you're most welcome!

Pasha ToH · 23 June 2005 · Chapter 4: Chapter Four-Warnings

I absolutely adore this, and Frodo seems to be edging himself into the middle, he better beware of crossfire... but thats my own opinion... love to see more soon may Eru bless your muses Pasha ToH

Author's reply

I have just updated, so I hope you enjoy the next chapter! Frodo is going to be the middle man in this, I think. Hee! :)

good_one_pip · 23 June 2005 · Chapter 3: Chapter Three-War Official

Hee, Hee! That was brilliant! "No one messes with a hobbit's food!" I liked it!

good_one_pip · 23 June 2005 · Chapter 1: Chapter One-A Beginning

This is the first time I've read one of your stories. I love Merry-Pippin humor story, and this one looks most promising! :)

Faith · 23 June 2005 · Chapter 4: Chapter Four-Warnings

Author's reply

I'm waiting for the twins to introduce themselves. I think things will have to get a little more out of hand before they join the fun. But you're right, they will bring about an apocolypse. :) Rivendell will never be the same! Bwahaha!

grumpy · 23 June 2005 · Chapter 4: Chapter Four-Warnings

I love seeing this side of the ranger. Hmmm something that won't hurt the hobbits. I guess that leaves out any small bolrogs, or dragons, I did like the idea of itching powder in their small clothes.

Author's reply

Cheeky!Aragorn is fun to write. I have a good time doing it. Itching powder comes from the book "Matilda". I think it's a bit too cruel to use, but that's just me. :)

Robinscat · 23 June 2005 · Chapter 4: Chapter Four-Warnings

HaHaHa! This is excellent! I love your prank war. You have the Hobits in character perfectly. I am a little surprised by Aragorn, but we don't get to see the real ranger much. I always thought there was a mischief streak to him. As for ideas, things like bowls of flour or water proped on open doors comes to mind, but that usually backfires when the wrong person opens the door. Perhaps substituting something for pipeweed? I am sure a ranger would know of something harmless but interesting. I don't know. I wish you luck. Oh, just wanted to tell you I have been reading my husband your little chapters while he gets ready for work. He throughly enjoys them. He asked me last night if a new chapter had been posted. Most of the time he teases me about my fanfiction addiction, but he likes your story. Thank you for sharing you gift. Robin

Author's reply

Bowls of water and flour, eh? I'm getting memories of Dennis the Menace. :) That just might work, thanks! Wow, I'm flattered that you're reading this to your husband, and that he likes it! I've got a new chapter up now, so I hope you both continue to enjoy this fic!

Andrea · 23 June 2005 · Chapter 4: Chapter Four-Warnings

Oh my! Frodo really must have scared his cousins to death! But it was well done, I'm impressed :) “Just thought I’d give them a warning, Boromir. I saw Aragorn preparing something that cannot be good." He knows it? Well, then I'm sure it will not hurt them overmuch ;-) BTW: Jack Sparrow in ME, I would like that crossover, too!

Author's reply

I'm glad you like it! Frodo can be completely evil, to my mind, when he wants to be. :) Crossovers can be such fun. I wrote a drabble once where Pippin met Sparrow in a pub in Minas Tirith. I'll have to see if I can find it!

Bodkin · 23 June 2005 · Chapter 4: Chapter Four-Warnings

So Aragorn is getting carried away, is he? I would think a very good method of torturing the hobbits is to do nothing at all - except grin at them knowingly each time he sees them. They would be on the edge of their chairs awaiting the next round, while the whole torment is in the absence of action. And it's very hard to get back at someone who is patently not doing anything to you! I love Frodo winding up his cousins. As long as the war doesn't spread, he might find it to be just the tonic he needs.

Author's reply

Ooh, that's a good idea! Suspense and trauma in the form of a smile. Thanks! Frodo needs the amusement, and you're right, this might be just the thing for him.

Tigger · 22 June 2005 · Chapter 4: Chapter Four-Warnings

To quote everyone's favourite pirate..."No...Not good...Not good!!" ROTFLOL!!! Poor Merry and Pip. Frodo really put the fear of death into them if they left roast turkey on the table. :oD And Aragorn watching it all and grinning...This is going to be good. I can't wait!! Post the next chapter soon!!

Author's reply

Oh, my gosh can you *see* Jack Sparrow in Middle Earth?! That would be the cross over of the century! The lads will definitely be regretting that roast turkey after an hour or so. They'll have to go beg leftovers off the kitchen staff. :) The next will be coming shortly!

Larner · 22 June 2005 · Chapter 4: Chapter Four-Warnings

Why do I get the distinct feeling Frodo is enjoying Aragorn's responses thoroughly? Alas, the lads to appear to have let themselves in for it in a BIG way.

Author's reply

They're definitely in for it. Big time. ;)

Elwen · 22 June 2005 · Chapter 3: Chapter Three-War Official

Shirebound pointed me at this tale when I asked her for distraction from having a tooth extracted. It worked. You had me smiling all the way!

Author's reply

Yay! I'm glad you're smiling. I hope your mouth feels better!

Andrea · 22 June 2005 · Chapter 3: Chapter Three-War Official

"They were even now. It didn’t seem that Merry would recognize that, though, and that worried Pippin. It did not surprise him, but it worried him." That's it. A personal war between the two hobbits, mostly Merry, and Aragorn! Bilbo und Frodo should not be involved, you're right. Poor Aragorn, he has now to come up with a better plan than Pippin's, and that's very difficult ;-)

Author's reply

Aragorn is going to find that he is seriously outmatched by these two. It won't be long before it's not a personal war anymore. ^_^

Tigger · 22 June 2005 · Chapter 3: Chapter Three-War Official

Uh oh...I'm deathly afraid of snakes, so Aragorn has my deepest sympathy at the moment. I can't wait to see what he does to those rascally twosome. They more than deserve it after all, but so did Aragorn. Smart of Bilbo and Frodo to stay out of all of this. Bilbo's elderly and Frodo's still recovering They aren't up to this kind of warfare. Poor Elrond...No wonder he was so happy to send them all off on the Quest. It was the only way to keep Rivendell standing. BTW...Are we going to see Boromir make an appearance here? Maybe as a "casualty" of one of the boys pranks for Aragorn ending up getting Boromir instead? Hmmm....? I can't wait to see where this goes next!! :oD

Author's reply

Poor Aragorn indeed! I'd have simply died of fright if there had been a snake in my bath. He is going to *get them*! Other characters will be making an appearance, starting soon! This is going to have to encompass more people. :)

Dreamflower · 21 June 2005 · Chapter 3: Chapter Three-War Official

Oh, now I'm sympathizing with Aragorn now! I do NOT like snakes--if they'd pulled that on me they'd have given me a heart attack!!! So...it's going from bad to worse is it? Oh joy! Calloo-callay hobbits and rangers at play! Whoo-hoo!

Author's reply

It'll be going from bad to much, much worse. Unfortunately, I was never a prankster and so it's going to be hard work for me to think up mean things for them to do to each other. :) Whee!

Faith · 21 June 2005 · Chapter 3: Chapter Three-War Official

ROFL!!! LOL!LAMO!!hehehehhe this was sooo ....hehehhe..ROFL!!! must..stop..laughing..hehheeh..his reaction..was..priceles...Thank the Valar Arwen was no where near by..that wouldve been soo embarrassing..LOL Faith, the Sue Slayer Proud member of IMSGSET and the Sue Squad

Author's reply

Ooh, can you imagine how Arwen would have reacted to this whole episode? Lol!! I'm glad you're enjoying this so much!

grumpy · 21 June 2005 · Chapter 3: Chapter Three-War Official

This story is great. I myself an not to fond of snakes, but would not mind seeing Aragorn in the buff. Of course he must get the hobbits back. Can not wait to see what he comes up with.

Author's reply

I think the hobbits seriously have an upper hand on Aragorn. I'm finding that many people agree with you about seeing him starkers. :)

Larner · 21 June 2005 · Chapter 3: Chapter Three-War Official

OMG--they are into it, and the poor creatures of the Rivendell valley are, too, apparently! First a frog and then a snake--and Aragorn has been laughed at by the keeper of the bath house? Ah, poor lads are truly letting themselves in for it, aren't they? My beloved Aragorn will defend his honor well, I am certain--until Elrond or Gandalf finally put their feet down collectively on the backsides of all three of them! You truly have me laughing!

Author's reply

The elves are going to start wondering where the small creeping things have gotten to before long, methinks! Aragorn's honor will be avenged, quite deviously. Mischief of immense proportions looms. ^_^ I'm glad you like this!

harrowcat · 21 June 2005 · Chapter 3: Chapter Three-War Official

Now I draw the line at water snakes in my bath. But naked Aragorn's - well that's a different matter. *Stops self before mind ends in gutter!* Chapters galore pleeeese as I need as many giggles as possible!

Author's reply

That scene was reminiscent of a time at camp for me-except it was a group of girls in swimsuits in a lake, lol! Get your mind out of the gutter, girl. Lol! More coming, and soon!

Anso the Hobbit · 21 June 2005 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two-Red Hot Chili Pepper

Of course Aragorn would have Legolas to accompany him in the pranks, lol. Merry and Pippin are after all two! :)
