What is RISEEE..., exactly? Rise? *is confused* The twins will be getting in on things, though I can't say how much right now. :)

Arwen Baggins · 26 June 2005 · Chapter 6: Chapter Six-Allies

Well if it's from the library, then apparently Frodo has figured something out or done something...Update soon please!

Author's reply

Hmm, it could be Frodo... ;)

TithenFeredir · 26 June 2005 · Chapter 6: Chapter Six-Allies

I love the string! And the bit about the sword being reforged was priceless. This little tale is really cute. I wonder if the twins will join in to help Aragorn. The possibilities are endless, really... ~TF

Author's reply

The possibilities are what make this fic fun. I'm enjoying it hugely. :)

Shieldmaiden of Rohan · 26 June 2005 · Chapter 6: Chapter Six-Allies

Hee!! I LOVE the string prank. And Boromir must be thinking that everyone in Rivendell is a few horses short of an eored, if you take my meaning. [/Sam moment] And I can certainly imagine that being polite and keeping them in suspense is a much worse punishment at the moment than instant retaliation would be... I could just see them wondering what kind of horrid plans he's coming up with and their imaginations getting all worked up.

Author's reply

A few horses short of an eored! I love it!! The hobbits will definitely be jumpy for a bit. Aragorn's being mean about it. :)

grumpy · 26 June 2005 · Chapter 6: Chapter Six-Allies

oh, I love the string idea, and poor Aragorn, not knowing why the hobbits are doing this, and having to be rescued by Boromir. "Don't Panic" from Merry, shades of Douglas Adams, Pippen is right having a smiling happy ranger, can only mean trouble. Looking foward to what's happening in the library.

Author's reply

Poor Aragorn indeed! I wonder how he'll react when he learns why they're peeved. :) More coming soon!

harrowcat · 26 June 2005 · Chapter 6: Chapter Six-Allies

I hope that Sam and Frodo remember this when they get to Shelob. At that point they need a smile, if only a small one. This is brilliant stuff. And I am dying to find out how Boromir is going to discover Why the Hobbits started plaguing Aragorn. I am sure it won't be as simple as just asking! And will the answer leave him with mixed loyalties? Will he continue siding with Aragorn or move over to help the Hobbits. Not that they seem to need help. And there really is nothing more frightening than normality coupled with a knowing smile when you are feeling guilty/worried. This story has the potential to run and run - more pleeese and son. Set you Dad onto thinking up plots or use some of the spare string to tie him up out of the way - just joking! If I could get my Dad to be computer literate I would be cheering.

Author's reply

I imagine that Boromir would side with Aragorn, just to be safe. The hobbits have a pretty good grip on their pranks right now. But you're right, Aragorn is really scaring them with his knowing smiles. My dad doesn't really hold with fanficion, more's the pity. He thinks I should turn my talents to more productive uses, and as the wireless on my laptop is broken, I'm stuck on the family computer. Woes. More coming soon, though!

Andrea · 26 June 2005 · Chapter 6: Chapter Six-Allies

"Boromir goggled at him. “Certainly. Er, may I ask where your own sword is?” Being reforged, Aragorn thought dismally." LOL! That's priceless!!! The technique of only smiling knowingly works perfectly on the two hobbits! "It was like sitting on pins, Pippin thought as he and Merry nervously ate their soup. He hated suspense." Wonderful ;-) I hope that scream from the library didn't come from someone who went into Strider's trap, instead of Merry and Pippin?

Author's reply

It may have been someone else. I don't know quite yet, lol! I'm glad you like it!

Bodkin · 26 June 2005 · Chapter 6: Chapter Six-Allies

I so agree with the last sentence! Poor Elrond - the atmosphere of studious tranquility that attaches to Imladris is being torn apart. Have others now involved themselves in this war? (I wouldn't put it past Arwen! She must have plenty of experience of dealing with mischief.) Pippin and Merry must be highly skilled in moving quietly if they were able to drape Aragorn's room in twine without waking him. He'll have to remember that skill in the future - it could come in useful.

Author's reply

Arwen may get into this. After all, she has a bone to pick about that strawberry bubble bath. ;) Lol, can you just see Aragorn rolling someone's room full of twine as the King? That has enormous fic potential.

Dreamflower · 25 June 2005 · Chapter 6: Chapter Six-Allies

*giggle*grin*giggle* Umm...well this is fun! And even more fun to know I was of assistance! 0;-) A scream? Do we even want to know? Of *course* we do! Did I mention this is *fun*?!?!?!

Author's reply

Your list of pranks is quite valuable: I'm just sort of rolling down the list and taking whatever comes next, lol! Yes, you want to know who screamed, and why! Stay tuned! Thanks!

Larner · 25 June 2005 · Chapter 6: Chapter Six-Allies

String, huh? Interesting touch. We filled a dorm room once with crumpled newspapers. Took hours to do. Then filled an office with balloons, which also took some time to do and logistics to keep the counselor busy at another school so we have time to finish it all. Anyway, this is becoming increasingly amusing!

Author's reply

LOL!! That is brilliant! Too bad there aren't balloons in ME; I could have done something like that. :)

Tigger · 25 June 2005 · Chapter 6: Chapter Six-Allies

Ooooh....Not good, not good at all!! And Aragorn had to get Boromir to help him out...ROTFLOL!!! Sneaky those hobbits are and they're right. If they'd touched the bed or Aragorn himself, they would have been dead. And Merry's right to be shaking. A cheerful happy Ranger who smiled at them cheerfully is a bad, BAD thing!!! Uh oh...A scream in the library...Collateral damage? Who got pulled into this mess by accident. Am I wrong in thinking Arwen? And if so...Whomever the prankster was, they're dead. Arwen can handle a sword and I'm not just talking about Movie Arwen either. I assume that highly ranked female Elves, especially the Granddaughter of The Lady Galadriel, would know how to defend herself and use something sharp and deadly too. I hope I'm right. The possibilties are too funny to even think of. :oD More and soon please!!!

Author's reply

Aragorn is going to do the suspense thing for a little longer, just to make them even more nervous than they are right now. The hobbits have every reason to be terrified. :) Well, the scream really came out of left field, but I'm thinking it may indeed be Arwen. Remember that little argument she and Legolas were having? I may have to play up that idea. Lol! More coming soon!

shirebound · 25 June 2005 · Chapter 6: Chapter Six-Allies

Boromir just smiled, a trifle bemused. Rivendell was turning out to be a much more interesting place than he had originally assumed it would be. Isn't it! This must be one of the most entertaining places Boromir's ever visited. A happy, smiling Ranger could only mean trouble. Hee hee. Someday they'll look back at the pranks they played on their KING and die of embarrassment. Maybe.

Author's reply

I'm sure once Boromir reconciles himself to the idea that these people are not as stately and reserved as he had thought, he will be able to enjoy himself. :) They'll either die of embarressment or giggle and write it down for posterity. I think they'd be thoroughly pleased to be able to say, "Yes, and we put a snake in his bath and he ranw away screaming!" and such. Lol!

robinscat · 25 June 2005 · Chapter 6: Chapter Six-Allies

Another great chapter! But how could the hobbits string Aragorn's room with out him hearing them? Could someone enlighten me on this inside joke about the strawberry bubbles and LOTR? It is one I have not heard. Waiting for next chapter patiently. Robin

Author's reply

Well, hobbits can move nearly as silently as the Elves can, so if they did not touch Aragorn while he was sleeping, they wouldn't have alerted him. Not to my mind, anyway. Strawberry bubblebath is a product of Cassie Claire's "The Very Secret Diaries". They go on about strawberry bubble bath in Rivendell in those fics. It's very slashy, but highly entertaining. :)

good_one_pip · 25 June 2005 · Chapter 5: Chapter Five-Bubbles

Looks like both sides may have found themselves some alies. The entire population of Rivendell will be dragged into this "war." And I love the strawberry bath soap. When it comes to LOTR, that seems to be an inside joke going all over the internet! I can't wait for more!

Author's reply

There will definitely be sides taken in this! It'll be fun. Lol, strawberry bubble bath! Whoever came up with that is a genius, because it definitely is the biggest inside joke of the fandom!

Breon Briarwood · 24 June 2005 · Chapter 5: Chapter Five-Bubbles

BWAHAhahahaha! I can't wait to see how far they take this!

Author's reply

Me, either!

Shieldmaiden of Rohan · 24 June 2005 · Chapter 4: Chapter Four-Warnings

Just hopping back since I wasn't able to review this when I read it. I thought Boromir's reluctance to get involved and his confusion over the whole thing was very well done. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up getting involved in some capacity before the war's over though...

Shieldmaiden of Rohan · 24 June 2005 · Chapter 5: Chapter Five-Bubbles

Arwen's strawberry bubble bath!! Hee!! And her and Legolas getting into a fight over it was quite amusing. I actually like the way you're writing Legolas in here very much, and I'm not normally a fan. But I do hope to see more of their squabbling. So is she terribly mad at poor Aragorn over it? And Merry and Pippin having to eat in order to gather their wits was just too funny, but highly appropriate. It seems like more and more people are getting involved in this... I bet Elrond's going to be really glad to kick the Fellowship out of Rivendell. :D

Author's reply

I think that Legolas has great potential for comedy. I don't really like him as aloof and princely, like you see in Mary Sues, so I tend to write him as being rather silly. What can I say, it's fun. :) The funny thing about this is that book-wise, Elrond has not chosen who will be in the Fellowship yet. I can just see the Fellowship acting up and Elrong choosing them just to get some peace and quiet back in Rivendell. Lol!

Andrea · 24 June 2005 · Chapter 5: Chapter Five-Bubbles

Oh my, now Aragorn has not only Merry and Pippin against him, but also Elrond and Arwen! To use her beautiful strawberry bubbles... LOL! And of course, Merry had to react immediately. It was only a little prank, but it served well ;-) “Got you, did he? Oh, this is rich! If you need me, I’ll be in the Hall of Fire with Bilbo.” Yeah, Frodo is great!!!

Author's reply

It looks like there is a definite possibility for the whole Rivendell to get involved. Uh-oh. Frodo is fun to write. I don't write him often, but when I do I have lots of fun. :)

Robinscat · 24 June 2005 · Chapter 5: Chapter Five-Bubbles

Bubbles ........ that was pretty good. And Arwen and Legolas bickering, even better. Poor Elrond, if they were mine, I send them to bed without supper, lol. Wonderful, I am looking forward to Merry and Pip's retailiation.

Author's reply

There are few things more amusing than strawberry bubble bath in Rivendell. Poor Elrond indeed, and it's only going to get worse!

Bodkin · 24 June 2005 · Chapter 5: Chapter Five-Bubbles

Well. Aragorn is very brave. Not to mention foolhardy. He helped himself to Arwen's strawberry bubble bath? He will be lucky to survive the repercussions of that! He might get a banner whacked round the back of his head! And Arwen and Legolas are squabbling - how sweet! Please let us see more of that dispute. Somehow, I suspect more than untucking the sheets went on in Aragorn's room. As Aragorn will shortly discover. If they're not careful, Elrond will be sending all and sundry supperless to bed shortly. And wishing to take stronger, rather more unelven measures, I daresay!

Author's reply

Aragorn will be very lucky if Arwen doesn't band with the hobbits on this one. He definitely took a risk with that bubble bath. The Arwen and Legolas dispute appeared out of left field and will likely escalate. I hope. He'll turn them into newts! Or Gandalf will. Poor Elrond. :)

Larner · 23 June 2005 · Chapter 5: Chapter Five-Bubbles

I'm a bit surprised Merry hadn't shortsheeted the bed. That would seem more effective than just untucking it.

Author's reply

Well, he did technically shortsheet the bed, but that phrase didn't sound Middle Earth-ish enough. If I think of a better equivilant than 'untucked' I'll change it!

Faith · 23 June 2005 · Chapter 5: Chapter Five-Bubbles

LOL!!! hehehe i love it! but you MUST add the twins..:Dand some PAINT!!:D Faith, the Sue Slayer Proud member of IMSGSET and the Sue Squad

Author's reply

I will be adding the twins eventually, but I odn't know about paint. Maybe. :)

grumpy · 23 June 2005 · Chapter 5: Chapter Five-Bubbles

This is great. Love the idea of Arwin and Legolas having petty squabbles. How could Pippin tell on Aragorn to Elrond, that should be against the unwritten rules. Looking forward to more.

Author's reply

I'm toying with the idea of the elves' petty squabbles escalating. It could be funny. Pippin's cheating, and it may come back to bite him. ;)

harrowcatl · 23 June 2005 · Chapter 5: Chapter Five-Bubbles

Oh no Aragorn, staying in bed and sleeping late is the coward's way out. And it won't work anyway!

Author's reply

It won't! Nowhere is safe, Aragorn, run away!

shirebound · 23 June 2005 · Chapter 5: Chapter Five-Bubbles

“What did you do?” Pippin asked warily. He knew that look well. “Not much,” Merry replied, bolting the door. *snicker* If I was Aragorn, I'd do nothing, and let the hobbits fret themselves to death.

Author's reply

He might just do that! It would certainly work. :)
