Good advice, apparently.

Larner · 17 August 2007 · Chapter 9: Chapter 9

Hmm. As Elros never visited this place, this is very interesting. But welcome.

Author's reply

Well, according to canon, neither did Boromir live, so I guess a little variation of the truth is allowed in this context. jenolas

Larner · 17 August 2007 · Chapter 8: Chapter 8

Excellent. They've arrived just in time.

Author's reply

The work of the far seeing Galadriel, perhaps. jenolas

Larner · 17 August 2007 · Chapter 7: Chapter 7

A fitting offer--if he chooses not to return to Gondor.

Author's reply

Is there really any doubt he will? jenolas

Larner · 17 August 2007 · Chapter 6: Chapter 6

Too deeply hurt for too long, perhaps? Or will Aragorn's aid be enough?

Author's reply

It will certainly do no harm! jenolas

Larner · 17 August 2007 · Chapter 5: Chapter 5

A proper compromise involving one who would not appear diminished before his people.

Author's reply

Despite all he has been through, a testament to his inner strength. jenolas

Larner · 17 August 2007 · Chapter 4: Chapter 4

A broken warrior, perhaps, but still a skilled and loving Man.

Author's reply

That he is! *sigh* jenolas

Larner · 17 August 2007 · Chapter 3: Chapter 3

And is he now in his way bound to this place as are the ghosts of those who once dwelt near Amon Hen?

Author's reply

I suppose so, ad at the very least he is learning a little about his ancestors. jenolas

Larner · 17 August 2007 · Chapter 2: Chapter 2

So, the Fellowship was perhaps tailed by Elves from Lorien, and they managed to save and revive Boromir? Interesting.

Author's reply

Hopefully a s\cenario for Boromir's "survival" that is not all that common. jenolas

Larner · 17 August 2007 · Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Am catching up on this one. Poor Faramir, with his Boromir-haunted dreams. He has reason to feel watched, there on the Hill of Seeing, or so I'd suppose.

Author's reply

Thanks for taking the time to comment. I hope you enjoy the rest of the story. jenolas

lyncarol333 · 17 August 2007 · Chapter 13: Chapter 13

Thanks for the wonderful update, and thanks for continuing this fic. Lyn

Author's reply

You are most welcome. Unfinished works are very annoying, in my opinion, and although it took some time, I have finally managed to complete this one. I hope you enjoy the last few chapters. jenolas

Bodkin · 8 November 2006 · Chapter 12: Chapter 12

Poor Boromir's still not well! I love the Elros / Elrond sparring story. The presence of Elros is intriguing - I wonder what brought him - and his connection with Haldir is touching - especially considering their long-past back story.

Linda Hoyland · 31 October 2006 · Chapter 11: Chapter 11

A most enjoyable chapter with some lovely moments for Aragorn and Boromir.

Author's reply

Thanks. I like to think that their fledgling friendship would have grown stronger had death not taken Boromir.

Bodkin · 30 October 2006 · Chapter 11: Chapter 11

It would be nice to see more of Elros. Perhaps Haldir will be persuaded to tell stories! Boromir is seeming a bit stronger - definitely a good thing. Food, understanding and plenty of conversation seem in order now. Fingers crossed Boromir's health is on the way up!

Author's reply

Yes, perhaps he will, and like as not in the next chapter. It is certainly time for things to lighten up a little now that Boromir is feeling better.

Linda Hoyland · 20 October 2006 · Chapter 10: Chapter 10

A most enjoyable and moving chapter.

Author's reply

Glad to hear it. Thanks.

Bodkin · 18 October 2006 · Chapter 10: Chapter 10

Goodness - I hadn't realised that Haldir was that old, either! I love the image of Legolas watching over his friends and singing - although the dreams/memories the sound stirs in Boromir are quite stressful! It's going to take him a while to get used to being alive - and to come to terms with what happened.

Author's reply

Well I guess it's within the realms of possibility that Haldir could be any age a writer chooses, Tolkien was not all that specific about the ages of some Elves. Yes, Boromir has a way to go yet, but he is recovering!

Linda Hoyland · 27 September 2006 · Chapter 9: Chapter 9

A gripping chapter. I loved the idea of Elros helping Aragorn.

Author's reply

Thanks, Aragorn needed help from another source and who better to assist than the very first King of Men?

Agape4Gondor · 25 September 2006 · Chapter 9: Chapter 9

Hi! Just found this and started reading - could not stop! Great tale - and, of course, I'm very glad Boromir is alive... nice job of who takes care of him and how he survived Amon Hen.

Author's reply

Very pleased to hear you are enjoying this tale and like the premise behind it. As I staterd at the beginning, this is not my usual choice of subject matter, but it seems to be working OK for now. jenolas

Bodkin · 25 September 2006 · Chapter 9: Chapter 9

Elros! Mind you, Aragorn needed help here to disperse the shadow. It was close to overcoming both of them. And hopefully now Boromir will recover rather better.

Author's reply

Yes, not even Aragorn is as powerful as the remnants of the shadow, at least in this tale! Boromir is indeed on the path to recovery but who knows where that will lead? jenolas

Dot · 24 September 2006 · Chapter 9: Chapter 9

This was quite a tense chapter. How strange it must have been for Aragorn and Legolas to see Boromir again. And yet they immediately set to work, knowing how little time he has. I really liked the part before they see him, where Legolas thinks of his seduction by the ring with not anger or blame but understanding and regret. His tender kiss of greeting brought tears to my eyes. Ah, so Boromir was still touched by evil. That explains why he wouldn’t heal and why his thoughts were so confused and troubled. I actually shuddered at the idea of the arrow wounds. Poor Boromir. How he must have suffered. And yet it says much for his strength of spirit and those, both seen and unseen, who watched over him that he survived this long while such evil battled for his soul. The scene where Aragorn tries to save Boromir is fantastic. I was on the edge of my seat. Such a relief when he conquers the darkness! I wondered who that voice was. But Elros! Wow. It’s not just any old ancestors hanging around that glade, eh? Ok, next chapter at your earliest convenience please, jenolas!!! Great to see you writing again, btw :-)

Author's reply

Thanks Dot, it's great to be back! I think Legolas must have understood Boromir's inner battle quite well having had to fight the darkness that gradually turned Greenwood into Mirkwood. Gondor was headed for the same fate, after all. I like to think they (as well as the Galadhrim) had much in common with respect to their love of their homelands. It seems the ghostly ancestors also believe Boromir is not a lost cause! Next chapter soon. Thanks again for your kind words and encouragement, be well, jenolas

Dot · 24 September 2006 · Chapter 8: Chapter 8

Hmm. I’m worried about Boromir. I’m still kind of hoping that it’s a chance for him to die amongst loved ones, in his beloved city and a chance to see that city begin to regain its splendour and enter a new age with hope and strength. I hate the thought that dreams of “a ravaged Minas Tirith, of death and destruction” still plague him. He deserves some peace. I love the opening! You write merry elves so well. The closeness between these three made me smile. And I like how even though they don’t fully understand this proud man’s reluctance to go home, in their longing for the Golden Wood they empathise with his pining for Minas Tirith. Neither of those places will be the same ones they knew, but they are still a part of them, held deep in their hearts. You always do a great job in drawing connections between your characters. The little part with Aragorn and Legolas was very atmospheric. I particularly liked Legolas’ confidence and assurance that they are surrounded by benevolent spirits, Aragorn’s own ancestors. The idea that they have faith in Aragorn and his rule is actually very touching. So now the king has arrived. On to the next chapter…

Author's reply

Hi Dot, I agree with you about Boromir, maybe he will find peace. Despite Haldir's lack of culinary skill, I would certainly not refuse a dinner invitation from him!! jenolas

Elflingimp · 24 September 2006 · Chapter 9: Chapter 9

Wow! that last line blew me away!! Elros? I really cant wait for more Im hooked!

Author's reply

Nice to hear, thank you. Next chapter is in the works.

Linda Hoyland · 20 September 2006 · Chapter 8: Chapter 8

What a treat to find more of this interesting an unusual story !I'm eagerly awaiting more.

Author's reply

More soon, I am glad to hear the story has caught your attention.

Elflingimp · 19 September 2006 · Chapter 8: Chapter 8

Aw I woke up this morning looking for another story as I thought I ran out of all of the good ones and look what I found! your story I immediatly got pulled in, the way you described the scenery and the voices of Aragorn and Faramirs ancesters is so real I can almost feel that ethereal feeling, you have all the characters down without a flaw(Haldirs my favorite),Cant wait for more and also I hope you are feeling well, thanks for sharing your story! :)

Author's reply

Thanks, I am feeling quite well again. I am pleased you like the story so much, thanks for taking the time to comment. jenolas

Bodkin · 18 September 2006 · Chapter 8: Chapter 8

Boromir isn't in the best of health - somehow, I can't see him living a full life, even with Aragorn's care. Good thing the king has arrived at this crucial point. I like his awareness of the ghosts that Legolas acknowledges - and the byplay about Haldir's cooking.

Author's reply

Thanks, I hope you continue to enjoy the story.
