Antane · 8 November 2008 · Chapter 16: Trust: Finding Rest (A. + Frodo + Sam)

You did Sam very well - no need to fret about that! This is a fine little gap-filler about love and trust. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author's reply

Well, thank you! Sam is a rather difficult hobbit to write; I understand hobbits like Bilbo better :)

harrowcat · 8 November 2008 · Chapter 52: Wine: Loose Tongues (A. + Bilbo + Elladan + Elrohir)

Ooh I am dying to hear that part of the tale.

inzilbeth · 8 November 2008 · Chapter 52: Wine: Loose Tongues (A. + Bilbo + Elladan + Elrohir)

That was lovely. I hope you're going to show us some more of that birthday celebration.

shirebound · 8 November 2008 · Chapter 52: Wine: Loose Tongues (A. + Bilbo + Elladan + Elrohir)

I love it when Bilbo's quick mind and forthright way of speaking are highlighted. Unlike the Shire, he's found a home where everyone -- Elves and Men -- think very highly of him, and that makes me happy. :)

Estelcontar · 4 November 2008 · Chapter 51: Cold: Merendis (A. + OC)

I see Aragorn is blessed with two very individual, independent and determined grandmothers. I see he is going to learn a lot from Merendis too. A lovely vignette.

Larner · 3 November 2008 · Chapter 51: Cold: Merendis (A. + OC)

Oh, I LOVE this meeting with the other grandmother, and you're the first I've seen who even thought of that lady! And she is reminded of Argonui, apparently? Interesting!

Elentarri · 3 November 2008 · Chapter 51: Cold: Merendis (A. + OC)

Hi For some reason I found that funny. Lovely little story. It would be interesting to see how it develops further. Cheers T

Larner · 2 November 2008 · Chapter 50: Surprise: The Unexpected (A. + Elladan + Elrohir)

A wonderful, all too likely a homecoming! And the differing reactions of the twins is marvelous!

Author's reply

Thank you; at first they were going to be similar reactions, but my fingers had a different idea, and this was the result!

Larner · 2 November 2008 · Chapter 49: Custom: From the North (A. + Imrahil)

Yes, smoking a pipe must seem so strange a custom to these southerners!

Author's reply

Definitely; different customs can seem so strange to those who haven't seen them before.

Estelcontar · 1 November 2008 · Chapter 50: Surprise: The Unexpected (A. + Elladan + Elrohir)

I can't say your Aragorn doesn't deserve to be called a fool, but I'm sure that Elrohir just like Elladan did will come to forgive him. A most enjoyable vignette.

Author's reply

Well, I have Elrohir on speaking terms with the rascal a few years later in another prompt, so I'm sure they make up sometime ;)

Viresse · 1 November 2008 · Chapter 50: Surprise: The Unexpected (A. + Elladan + Elrohir)

it's so warm! glad that Elladan was portraited as such a nice brother.

Author's reply

Ah, Elrohir isn't a bad brother, either, but simply hurt! :) Nonetheless, I am glad you liked it.

harrowcat · 31 October 2008 · Chapter 50: Surprise: The Unexpected (A. + Elladan + Elrohir)

I am really loving this series. Arwen's decision must have been difficult for the Twins in a different way to Elrond. He had already made his choice to cleave to his Elven heritage. The twins have yet to decide. Great stuff.

Author's reply

Tolkien left out what happened to Elrond's sons, so I always wondered just how long they decided to linger (the stories of them lingering so long that they are in our modern earth are particularly fascinating!) Maybe even one of them goes the same route has Arwen. Who can tell?

Linda Hoyland · 30 October 2008 · Chapter 49: Custom: From the North (A. + Imrahil)

I loved this glimpse of Aragorn and Imrahil in their younger days.Much as I love Aragorn,I would react just like Imrahil to the pipeweed!

Author's reply

I agree. As it is, I have rather nasty asthma so I would rather be with Aragorn when he isn't using the pipe!

Estelcontar · 29 October 2008 · Chapter 49: Custom: From the North (A. + Imrahil)

I love those pieces which show Aragorn in whatever guise just simply relaxing and enjoying life because these moments must have been a bit rare in his life after he turned 20, and before he gained his kingdom. This vignette of yours strikes just the right mood. I enjoyed it very much.

Author's reply

Oh, certainly. I think that, even though he was of high position in (presumably) Rohan and Gondor, he must have been rather busy often and times to relax must have been rare. I do like them, myself.

6336 · 29 October 2008 · Chapter 49: Custom: From the North (A. + Imrahil)

I know just how Aragorn/Throngil feels, there is nothing like something from home to remind one of it! Be it food, or leaf or just a voice speaking 'your' language! More please, Lynda

Author's reply

Oh, certainly. During my trip to China there were quite a few things that popped up here and there that happily reminded me of home. Thanks for reviewing.

harrowcat · 29 October 2008 · Chapter 49: Custom: From the North (A. + Imrahil)

So Imrahil is not a convert to the art of pipe smoking! *grin* His attitude seemed to change markedly when he realised to whom he was speaking.

Author's reply

Ah, by the time of Denethor's wedding Thorongil was a well-known and famous man in Gondor. *g* And, who knows, he did have to learn ship handling from somewhere... That gives me an idea. Anyhow, thanks for the review!

Estelcontar · 27 October 2008 · Chapter 48: Food: Second Breakfast (A. + Bilbo)

What a most delicious vignette, Lairë.(pun intended) I loved to learn that Bilbo knew how to limit himself to six meals a day. I'm sure that once in a while when faring in the wild Aragorn would have loved to share one of those six meals. And wise man that he is, he knows how to take good advice when he gets it. I'm sure both of them will enjoy themselves enormously at Aragorn's birthday feast.

Author's reply

LOL, wonderful pun. And yes, the feast- well, the aftermath- will be covered a few chapters from now. They do enjoy it very much indeed.

Dreamflower · 26 October 2008 · Chapter 48: Food: Second Breakfast (A. + Bilbo)

Oh, I love this! It's marvelous to see a bit of Bilbo's friendship with "the Dunadan"! And such a hobbit conversation.

Author's reply

Thank you kindly- I am very glad you enjoyed it!

shirebound · 26 October 2008 · Chapter 48: Food: Second Breakfast (A. + Bilbo)

tonight I shall enjoy myself. You should do the same, young man That's very wise of Bilbo. :)

Author's reply

Bilbo is one of the "unknown wise", and should certainly be counted among them!

Larner · 26 October 2008 · Chapter 48: Food: Second Breakfast (A. + Bilbo)

Ah! Well, a most happy birthday to that paragon of Men, Aragorn Estel Thorongil Strider.... (He needs to many names, designations, and titles to keep up with his virtues! Hee!) Lovely greeting between the two, and love the jibes about meals and food and feasting! Heh!

Author's reply

Ah, thank you kindly! My teacher once said that the more names something has the more important it is. I like to think that applies to Aragorn.

Larner · 26 October 2008 · Chapter 47: Storm: It Can't Get Any Worse (A. only)

How often in the past few years have the creeks continued to rise in spite of me! Oh, I feel so with Aragorn! Poor man!

Author's reply

Yes, the forces that control the world do seem to conspire against mankind. I do feel for Aragorn, especially when fan fiction writers get their hands on him. *g*

harrowcat · 26 October 2008 · Chapter 48: Food: Second Breakfast (A. + Bilbo)

Now there begs the question. How many other men did Bilbo know and how did he get to know them? You've made me feel hungry now.

Author's reply

Ah, true! But I imagine that he passed through Bree on his way to Rivendell; and, of course, he saw many men in Esgaroth. The four hobbits in LOTR likely knew more after their adventures, but Bilbo knew more than most. Thanks for reviewing :)

harrowcat · 26 October 2008 · Chapter 47: Storm: It Can't Get Any Worse (A. only)

Oh yes it can! I love this because it totally expresses how I am feeling about RL at the moment but I can't even blame Gandalf! Thanks for the smile!

Author's reply

Oh, I'm sorry RL is being such a pain! *hugs* Glad I was able to cheer you up a little.

Linda Hoyland · 25 October 2008 · Chapter 47: Storm: It Can't Get Any Worse (A. only)

Poor Aragorn! You conveyed his misery very vividly. Our beloved Ranger was certainly brave and tough!

Author's reply

Yes, he was- and that is why we love him to death *g*

Estelcontar · 24 October 2008 · Chapter 47: Storm: It Can't Get Any Worse (A. only)

With his experience Aragorn should know better, and not tempt the fates as he did. It just goes to show he's not perfect right? A most delightfully humourous vignette which still illustrates well the hardness of Aragorn's life.

Author's reply

He is only human, in the end, and makes mistakes here and there... that are slightly painful for him, yes, but humorous for us. Aww, poor ranger.
