· Chapter 47: Storm: It Can't Get Any Worse (A. only)
Somewhere early in the journey to Rivendell in "Fellowship" Aragorn intimates to the Hobbits that he looks as grim as he does from a lot of sleeping out in the wild. He did not go into a lot of the miserable details just then. This piece very graphically lets us be dirty, cold, wet and bruised with Aragorn!
Author's reply
Oh yes, I remember that passage vividly- Strider tells them that it would take years to look like him, and they would be killed first unless they were of harder stuff than they looked to be. It is difficult to imagine all that he went through all of his long years.

Ha!Ha! is all I can say. I know it isn't funny to dear old Strider but it was funny to read and so very true, just when you think things couldn't get any worse, something always happens to remind you they can. LOL! Hugs The Imp
Author's reply
Oh, it is so true! Too many times have I thought those dreaded words- they certainly hold a curse over them, since it always becomes worse!

If you don't think it can get any worse, it will!
Poor Aragorn, I hope he finds a nice dry cave with lots of dry wood for a fire and a misplaced food bag!
More please,
Lynda
Author's reply
Oh yes, me too! Poor man certainly deserves some reprise. And quite a few more are coming within the next week- stay tuned! :)

· Chapter 46: Shy: First Meeting (A. + Bilbo)
I loved this account of how Aragorn's lost friendship with Bilbo began.
Author's reply
Thank you; I wish Tolkien said more about it, frankly put. I love their banter in Rivendell.

That was absolutely delightful, Laire; I was sorry it ended when it did. You have Bilbo spot on.
Author's reply
Thank you, Inzilbeth! Admittedly, Bilbo is probably my favorite hobbit, and he is fun to write.

What a lovely might have been, Lairë. I'm sure it could have happened just this way. I liked you shy young Estel, and the idea of playful dwarves.
Author's reply
Well goodness, you know those dwarves, they can be just so odd at times... ;) Glad you liked it.

· Chapter 46: Shy: First Meeting (A. + Bilbo)
What a lovely meeting. It might have happened in just this way.
Author's reply
It may have indeed- I like to think that Bilbo and Aragorn did meet when he was younger. It's just so darn cute to think of them together.

It feels good to read about Aragorn finally meeting his family. The easy, friendly atmosphere felt just right. I look forward to reading more about your OCs.

I feel as if I were in the room with them. A nice, cosy feeling to this story!
Author's reply
Thank you! I've read so many interpretations of Aragorn meeting his family for the first time, but color me unrealistic, I cannot imagine it being anything other than happy.

· Chapter 41: Road: The Road Home (A. + Elrond)
Darned right, Aragorn better stay arround awhile and wait for the twins. Now doesn't he feel better that he made his way back home.
Author's reply
Oh he does... for now. The twin meeting is written, but it may not play out as others expect it to play out. ;P

· Chapter 44: Gift: Giving Back the Gift (A. only)
What a beautiful little piece, Lairë. And for me it was spot on. I have always thought that for Aragorn the hard part about giving back the gift would be telling Arwen because, being wise, he knew how she would feel.
Author's reply
Heh, no kidding! She was immortal in the end, after all, and knew nothing about death until she lived in the world of Men. To lose her husband to such a thing must have been very, very difficult.

· Chapter 44: Gift: Giving Back the Gift (A. only)
This just broke my heart. Even though you know the inevitable is coming it doesn't make it any easier.
The image of him holding his great great grandaughter's embroidery while contemplating his end is quite sombering but at the same time beautiful.
I love your Aragorn stories. Keep those prompts coming.
Author's reply
Oh, I agree completely. Sometimes I wish Aragorn and Arwen were able to sail away with the rest of them.
Thank you very much, and yes, they'll keep on coming- I am quite far behind and I am still catching up. XD

· Chapter 44: Gift: Giving Back the Gift (A. only)
Ah yes, his fears for the Evenstar would ever be foremost in his mind, I think. That's a nice touch with the embroidery as he makes contemplates making this difficult decision. Well done.
Author's reply
Thank you, Inzilbeth. I do wonder how he would have brought up the subject with her- I cannot even imagine how difficult it would have been.

· Chapter 44: Gift: Giving Back the Gift (A. only)
Oh, I so agree with his estimation of what will come to pass once she knows. (Not that Tolkien didn't make that clear, of course--heh!)
But one of his beloved great-granddaughters looks to succeed Arwen as the embroideress of the land! Wonderful!
Author's reply
Heh, no kidding! I do feel sorry for Arwen at times, having to deal with that.

· Chapter 43: Cloud: Dragons (A. + Eldarion)
I loved this glimpse of Aragorn and his young son.Just delightful!
What a charming and sweet little tale, Lairë. I love to imagine Aragorn and Eldarion happily enjoying cloud figures in the sky. Aragorn's delighted surprise and laughter was very endearing too. No wonder the missive was forgotten.
Author's reply
Missives are rather dull in comparison, yes? I know my own father has left his work to pay attention to my young sister; I can imagine Aragorn doing the same.
That's a very sweet moment between father and son.
Author's reply
Thank you Janet :)

· Chapter 42: Peace: The Secret Garden (A. + Arwen + Faramir)
What a lovely idea to have Arwen restore Finduilas garden to its pristine loveliness. I'm sure it will do Faramir good to help her once in a while.
Aragorn brushing the few leaves gently off the bench was a very delicate touch.
Author's reply
Oh yes, that was not Faramir's last visit into that garden.
I'll admit being inspired by the scene in FOTR EE when Aragorn gently brushes the leaves away from his mother's grave. One of my favorite small touches to the film.

· Chapter 42: Peace: The Secret Garden (A. + Arwen + Faramir)
Warm and lovely. Though perhaps Faramir need not leave. In between his duties I suspect he, too, could find solace in helping to restore this garden. Then later, he could bring his own lady love and their children there, too.
Author's reply
Oh, I agree completely. The only reason he likely left as he did was that he still did not know the king and queen well. Give him a few years, and you'll have to drag him out :)

· Chapter 42: Peace: The Secret Garden (A. + Arwen + Faramir)
Finduilas's garden couldn't be in better hands. (Perhaps you could show us later the unveiling of the recovered garden?)
Psst -- "she could wander around the fauna" -- Of "flora and fauna," fauna are the animals (your mnemonic is "fawn"), while flora are the flowers and other plants (mnemonic "florist"). There undoubtedly were small fauna in the garden, but many more flora....
Author's reply
Perhaps, indeed! We'll see :)
Err, d'oh! That's what I get for writing AND rereading so early in the morning! I knew that, of course, but my sleep-deprived brain didn't. Thanks for poiting it out! :)

There are few things more sad than a well loved garden that has been neglected. And it is a thing of great joy to restore.
Lovely feeling to this piece.
