· Chapter 41: Road: The Road Home (A. + Elrond)
That was beautifully done, Laire. You are absolutely right, Elrond never stopped loving Aragorn. I so wish we had more words spoken between them on this matter in canon, but the unsupportive, bullying Elrond we see in the films is certainly not Tolkien's Elrond.
Author's reply
Thank you very much.
Don't remind me about movie!Elrond; he depresses me quite often in his treatment to Aragorn and his manipulation of Arwen. Frankly put, that is *not* Elrond. One can only hope that Thranduil is not butchered in such a way.

· Chapter 41: Road: The Road Home (A. + Elrond)
Another very moving vignette, Lairë. Aragorn was very lucky in having such a caring and wise person as Elrond as foster father.
Author's reply
I agree completely; goodness, I imagine that quite a few people would not mind having Elrond as a father-figure. He is an amazing character.

· Chapter 41: Road: The Road Home (A. + Elrond)
Love the reassurance! Am so glad he had Elrond as his foster father. The best he could have, having been robbed of his own father by the orcs.
Author's reply
I know- Elrond is such an amazing character. He is still so loving, even after all that he has lost. Bless him.

This is such a powerful piece. I had tears in my eyes. I am glad that you did not cut it down to fit an arbitery word length. In fact you could easily expand this even further.
Author's reply
Oh my! I am touched that you were touched like that.
It indeed can easily be expanded, and I do think I would like to write about his and the twins' reunion, at the least.

· Chapter 41: Road: The Road Home (A. + Elrond)
Absolutely canon, and wistfully lovely. I even believe I remember a place where Elrond says something to the effect that by his sacrifice of his daughter the world of men will be enriched. It has been too long since I have read much in LOTR. Still, I can not believe that a loving Creator would allow any of his beloved children to be lost or wasted. I very much believe that there will be reunions beyond the circles of this world!
Author's reply
Oh, really? I am rereading LOTR and haven't come yet across that line... but it is true, is it not? She is a wonder, after all, and not only for her beauty.
And I completely agree with you; I think that they all were reunited once more. Perhaps I'll write about that sometime :) Thanks for the review!

· Chapter 37: Forest: The Lady of the Wood (A. + Galadriel)
Oh, Galadriel is devious and Aragorn is still too sleep-dazzled to get suspicious. I can imagine how he looked like when Galadriel nearly woke him. His unruly hair probably sticking out every which way. I can understand that he wants to apologize for his appearance.
Author's reply
Heh! I love the thought of completely unruly hair sticking out oddly... what an amusing image. Thanks for the review.
A nice glimpse of the everyday shared parenting duties of Elrond and Gilraen.
Author's reply
Thank you; I find myself interested in such daily occurrences.

· Chapter 39: Cradle: Looking on the Past (A. only)
I really liked the images of the Dunedain village is this story. We know so little about how they lived but this felt very right to me. And I loved Aragorn's thoughts about the cradle.
Author's reply
I'm glad you like it! I'm forming my own little Dunedain backstory with these prompts, and achieving something realistic is certainly something I strive for. Thanks for reviewing.
Ah, children! They will continue to play in the rain even when not properly dressed for it! Sounds like us and many other children I've known and loved.
Author's reply
I certainly remember my brothers and I playing in the rain when we were children. Come to think of it, I know no children who do not delight in doing so :)

Ah, worthy wonderings for the chieftain returned, the one who once lay in that cradle....

And a mere 20 years from those years, as well. 20 years; a blink of an eye to Time. Fascinating, really.

· Chapter 39: Cradle: Looking on the Past (A. only)
A very poignat and moving vignette. The gentle hand that Aragorn laid on the cradle and his perception of the love poured into its making were a great touch. So was the ending with Aragorn's realization that now it was time to face the future, and that he would have to wait for better times to mourn the past.
Author's reply
I'm glad you liked it; it was a bit of a challenge to get out, so I'm glad you thought it worked.

I can see clearly just how Aragorn would wish to have these "average days" a thing of the past! And your battle was decently written--love Aragorn's thrown knife.

· Chapter 38: Heat: The Forges of Rivendell (A. + Gimli)
What a wonderful glimpse on the reforging of Narsil, and the birth of Andúril. I never thought of Gimli being present then, but nothing seems so natural. After all, what dwarf would not be interested in witnessing the reforging of a work of Telchar of Nogrod.
Author's reply
I truly never thought of it myself until I actually, well, contemplated the scene. I would not be surprised if Gimli wanted to see the forges in his time in Rivendell; going there when Aragorn was present was just the workings of fate :D

· Chapter 38: Heat: The Forges of Rivendell (A. + Gimli)
It is a darn good thing that they put Elendil's blade back together, Aragorn needs a whole one, not just a hilt. I can imagine that Gimli would find it very interesting.
Author's reply
No kidding; though I do find the image of Aragorn threatening Sauron through the Palantir with a broken Narsil incredibly amusing.

I'm sure Gimli would have been fascinated by Anduril yet it's something I've not seen in a fic before. You did a good job of rectifying that.
Author's reply
It did not occur to me until I thought about writing a fic concerning Anduril. Nonetheless it certainly seems plausible. Thank you for the review.
