And a deserved win I say even if there had been thirty entries. (Said in my most loyal Sam voice as I didn't see the other entries! *g*)
Author's reply
Thank you so much,my loyal Sam !I liked the 2nd placed entry, but didn't read the 3rd being the sort I avoid.

shirebound · 4 September 2007 · Chapter 12: Green
He too would build his own home soon at Emyn Arnen and nest there with his fair lady. Green was her favourite colour, the hue of her people’s banners. Faramir is so full of hope, his life so changed. What a wonderful way to write his joy.
Author's reply
Thank you, i'm pleased you liked this.Faramir always seems a character full of hope.
Liv · 28 July 2007 · Chapter 11: The Honour of the House
Wonderful as ever. I can see the glow of the fire and Faramir's eyes brightened by his friends words, because his heart knows them to be the absolute truth... If only this beautiful and brave soul could be unburdened from the memories of his heartless father...
Author's reply
Thank you for your much appreciated review. I'm delighted you could visualise this scene so well.Faramir is indeed a special soul who now has a chance to flourish.
Lady Bluejay · 6 July 2007 · Chapter 11: The Honour of the House
Nice to see a good relationship between Eomer and Faramir. It always bugs me when it is portrayed otherwise. LBJ
Author's reply
Many thanks for your much appreciated review. I like to believe Faramir and Eomer were friends.
Agape4Gondor · 5 July 2007 · Chapter 3: Death of Hope
I, too, felt sorrow when I read that Arwen had pleaded with Aragorn to stay. For her, the parting was even more acute as she had lost, forever, the rest of her family, by her own choice. 'Arwen knew well what he intended, and long had foreseen it; nonetheless she was overborne by her grief. "Would you then, lord, before your time leave your people that live by your word?" she said.' Appendix LOTR It's funny how one tiny, little line can make such an impact on you, isn't it?
Author's reply
Many thanks for your much appreciated review. That line of Arwen's always tugs at my heart too.

Raksha The Demon · 4 July 2007 · Chapter 11: The Honour of the House
It must have been at least slightly painful for Faramir to know, as other men's fathers and kinsmen were acclaimed for glorious deeds during the Ring War, that his own father had gone mad and deserted the Stewardship and burned himself alive. Though I think Faramir would manage to cope with it, and move past it, in the beginning, it had to sting a little. Good attempt to focus on this facet of Denethor's legacy.
Author's reply
Many thanks for your much appreciated review. Poor Faramir was left a painful legacy by his father. I'm sure he did cope well, but occasions like this must have hurt.
Larner · 4 July 2007 · Chapter 11: The Honour of the House
A most wonderful and needed reassurance that Faramir has indeed aided in the recovery of the West from Sauron's great evil. Very good, Linda.

phyloxena · 16 June 2007 · Chapter 6: The Silver Crown
Only, the crown is not quite his to give. From the way the meaning of the King's office described ITB, the crown would be far more important in Faramir's eyes when his own life, even as Steward's life.
Author's reply
I'm quite sure Faramir is very aware of just how important the office of King is, this is just my attempt to show his personal feelings as opposed to his duty,as he knows it is only thanks to Aragorn that he is alive to bring out the crown. Many thanks for reviewing.

Raksha The Demon · 13 June 2007 · Chapter 3: Death of Hope
A sad, chilling drabble that brings home the despair that Arwen felt after Aragorn's death. The last line, about her being a walking shadow, is brilliant.
Author's reply
Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm so pleased you found this moving. The last line was inspired by Shakespeare.

Liv · 5 June 2007 · Chapter 9: Inheritance
Just as I imagine the ring speaking to Aragorn. It's all there: the false promises of freeing Frodo of the burden, becoming king, loving Arwen, defeating Sauron, ... and enslaving the free people of Middle Earth to a master who would only become its next victim... But Aragorn did pass the test, well on his way to become Elessar. I love this little piece, thank you! (P.S. Linda I think you are a *wonderful* writer; I read Burden of Guilt and Web of Treason some weeks ago, it took me many breathtaking hours ( I stayed up most of the night and just kept going ...impossible to stop ) and it was a fantastic experience. I hope you keep writing... so that I can keep reading...!)
Author's reply
Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm delighted you enjoyed this and felt I captured the Ring's false promises and Aragorn's reactions.
Larner · 4 June 2007 · Chapter 9: Inheritance
Unfortunately, I can see the Ring using exactly this reasoning on addressing Aragorn and in seeking to suborn him.
Author's reply
Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm glad you agree the Ring acts like this.It is wasting its time with Aragorn, though.
Dreamflower · 4 June 2007 · Chapter 9: Inheritance
The Ring always betrays itself by offering just that little bit too much, more than the person It's tempting really wants... Aragorn wants his rightful inheritance--*not* to rule the world. The Ring just can't understand that.
Author's reply
Many thanks for your much appreciated review. I doubt the Ring found many like Aragorn. No wonder it turned its intentions to poor Boromir!
