· Chapter 19: There Was A Hobbit - A Drabble (Boromir/Haldir)
LOLOL! Reminds me of my story "That Song"!
And it's one more reason to be glad that JRRT changed the main hobbit's name to Frodo--instead of BINGO!
Author's reply
I'll have to find your story. I had read about 'Bingo' and when the opportunity presented itself, I just had to use it. Haldir enjoyed it too!
Glad you enjoyed this!

Oh, Agape! This is lovely! I love fics done from the animals POV and for some reason it escaped me the horses tattled on that strange travelling troupe. *grin* Just perfect. I enjoyed this very much! ~ NiRi
Author's reply
Thanks bunches! This tale *giggles* brought out a lot of grins. I'm very glad.. some of my other stuff is getting dark and it's nice to have a moment of pleasure! Though the horses were none to pleased with the company!

*grin*
What a wonderful gapfiller for The Hobbit! I've always been fascinated by Beorn's animals--they seem more intelligent than the usual animals, special in some way. Very nice! (And I love the reason they are suspicious of poor little Bilbo--"not dressed for travelling", indeed!) LOL!
Author's reply
Thanks much! I do so enjoy that Tolkien made his animals talk - at least in the Hobbit.

· Chapter 63: A Master's Friends (A triple drabble)
Congrats on coming up with a totally new idea for a Tolkien fanfic!
Now, what were the dogs and the sheep discussing?
Author's reply
Hmmm - I don't remember too many dogs and I definitely don't remember sheep.... however, there was that lone fox in FOTR............ :-)
Glad you liked the new idea.......
What a tender, loving portrayal of Faramir. His love for his father, mother and grandfather is so strong. The prayer to the Valar was a fitting end to this wonderful ficlet.
Tari
Author's reply
Bless you - I'm very glad you liked the prayer especially.
Ah, if anyone needed and deserved such a prayer, it was Denethor. And may he know how deeply his son grieved for him--his son and the one who had hoped so deeply to be his friend.
Author's reply
Personally, I don't think it was till the last year or two that Denethor and Faramir became so estranged. Mithrandir visited Minas Tirith in 3018 and stayed until early 3019. It seems to me Faramir would have visited his friend on many occassions... And Denethor probably knew.
I hate that estrangement.... for I love them both.
Thank you for your kindness to Denethor.
How he must have longed to gaze into that globe! But Faramir is strong in every circumstance.
Such a heartbreaking, yet very loving, Father's Day story.
Author's reply
I felt the same way - that it would be extremely difficult for him not to look... however, right before his eyes were the consequences of Denethor's looking... the ruined House of the Stewards and the death of his father.
Thank you for your kind words....

· Chapter 61: A Gift (Faramir)
Lovely and well written, Agape :-)
I will now show some of my ignorance. I know very little to nothing of the history of the Elves, despite having read the Silmarillion twice - none of it stuck at all. Nor have I read much of the appendices of LOTR. Did Elrond do this or is it something you thought could have happened? It's a lovely gesture and great honor either way :-)
Author's reply
I'm sorry for the late reply!
Elrond did not do this. In fact, we have no way of knowing what happened to Beleg's bow. I truly hope, in the midst of Turin's despair and grief, that he might have taken the bow himself and somehow gotten it back to Turgon. If that happened, then it is possible that it ended up with Elrond. We can only hope.
Bless you and thank you!

Hello, I also love Beleg for his love and loyalty. He never gave up on Turin, his friend and heart's brother. *sigh* I am glad someone remembered to gift his bow and to someone who would greatly cherish it. :) Hugs, Neilia
Author's reply
Oh dear! *heavy sigh* another Beleg lover... he is a dear, isn't he - so steadfast and brave and loyal... bless his heart....
I'm glad Faramir got his bow...

· Chapter 61: A Gift (Faramir)
Indeed a mighty gift, and well-deserved. If any Man is worthy to wield Beleg's bow, it must be Faramir son of Denethor.
Author's reply
Doesn't it just seem perfect, Larner? But I'm wondering what the Elf would say? (Legolas, I mean)... a touch of jealousy perhaps????

An evil Hurin? Who would have guessed. That he gloried at Boromir's death and then killed Frodo is uncomprehensible. I got the chills reading this.

Dearest Hurin is such a goody-two-shoes over at 10,000 Years that I decided the poor man needed a change.

Odd but good :-) It took me awhile to get the feel for it. I had not thought of Denethor sending someone to make sure Boromir did not fail. I like how you describe the feeling of the touch of the Ring upon Hurin.
Author's reply
I don't think he sent Hurin because he thought Boromir would fail. He saw the threat in the Palantir and sent a friend to help. *shivers* Unfortunately, the friend was easily overcome by the Ring.

· Chapter 60: Opportunity (Hurin/Boromir/Frodo) AU
Ah--Agape--this is so horrible to contemplate! Aaaah! Hurin had thought to take it for Denethor, but now has been taken by it---- And Frodo--our Frodo! No! No!
Certainly a character I'd never thought of in terms of taking the Ring. As for what this one will come to--he has yet to learn the truth of the statement that of old Sauron was known as the Liar, and the epithet belongs to the Ring as well!
Author's reply
It seemed to me that Boromir would have trusted Hurin implicitly. As I read ROTK, I noted that IMO Hurin is really third in the line... Denethor as Steward is first, of course, then Boromir as Captain-General is second, then Hurin, Warden of the Keys, is third. He literally runs Gondor while Aragorn is off at the Black Gate...
That Denethor would send someone to help the Quest (but not in the way we would think) seems plausible. They were on Gondor's soil by this time, else Denethor would not have heard Boromir's horn. With the help of the Palantir, he could have found Boromir on the Anduin and sent someone off. That Hurin should be the one - who knows why. That the Ring, even though not near, should 'claim' Hurin seems plausible. Hurin's blood was not as high as Boromir's and Boromir fell to its whiles.
So there poor Boromir is - wounded - and sees a trusted friend/leader. In that state, I think it quite likely he would have told Hurin to help. Poor deluded Boromir.
Now - as for Hurin - I'm not writing anymore of this tale - though it might be fun - but Hurin is in for a huge shock! As we all know.
Thanks for reviwing!!!
Psst - sorry about Frodo... *ducks flying tomatoes*

· Chapter 59: The Esquire - 500 words (OC/Denethor)
A fascinating look at this complex, haunted Steward through the eyes of the unnamed esquire. Loved it. Too bad he, too, fell, for Pippin might have benefited by meeting him one day.

A lovely ficlet - and what an interesting POV! I'd never thought why Denethor didn't already have an esquire.

Author's reply
Sometimes those lines in the book just jump out and bite you. I'd read the book probably 10 times already, but this was the first time I noticed that line. It seems strangely sad, Denethor's little statement that he didn't have an esquire...
Glad you enjoyed it and made you think!

Well written as always Agape! Very intense!
Author's reply
The esquire would not leave me alone, once I read about him and it registered. You know how that is... you read and read and then suddenly a sentence jumps out at you and you have no peace until you write what you are told. Sometimes I think my muse is my 8th grade teacher - nudging me in the back with a ruler!!!
Thanks for the kind compliment!

Ohh, how heartbreaking. I never wondered who Denethor's squire might have been, before Pippin.

I re-read that part because of the cat... and it just touched my heart. There seemed to be a poignancy in Denethor's statement. At least to me, and I wondered about the story of this one who 'left' Denethor. Glad it touched you.

· Chapter 58: Trust - A Drabble (Boromir/Faramir)
Poor Boromir, he had so much sitting on those broad shoulders.
Well Done!
Author's reply
What I find heart-rending for Boromir is the fact that the burden began the day he was born. As he grew older, the burden weighed more and more heavily. To me, in the drawing, he is about twelve and yet, already a man because of what was expected of him....
But Faramir was there to play with now and again and remind him that life was good. And, thankfully, the dear Hobbits helped on the quest, at least for a time!
