Pearl Took · 4 September 2007 · Chapter 42: Behind Enemy Lines - A Drabble (Aragorn)

Wonderous! I feel the same way, a little, when a hummingbird comes close to check me out. :-)

Author's reply

I do so love hummingbirds, PT... never see enough of them. My favorite are deer - because they do just kind of stop and I oft wonder what they are thinking as I patiently wait for them to cross the road! Thanks for the response! Much appreciated.

Pearl Took · 4 September 2007 · Chapter 41: Arwen's Woe - A Drabble (Arwen)

This is very deep. The need we sometimes feel to have a physical pain to match our emotional one. MEWD!!

Author's reply

I don't think that Arwen would hurt herself... though she might be tempted to wring a few necks (most notably Elrond's) - but I do think there was physical pain for her - the pain in a heart torn from those she loved, both those gone West and those seeking revenge. Thanks for responding!

Pearl Took · 4 September 2007 · Chapter 40: Where Is Home? - A Double Drabble (Finduilas)

LOL They do say one can never go home . . .

Author's reply

That is it in a nutshell! Gees, PT, I probably didn't need to write this. Just needed to say... 'There's no place like home' whilst clicking my heels. *giggles* Thanks for responding!

Pearl Took · 4 September 2007 · Chapter 39: Not Forsaken - A Drabble (Boromir/Gimli)

More succour for the grieving, and again, so beautifully done!

Author's reply

Thanks, PT!

Pearl Took · 4 September 2007 · Chapter 38: Boromir's Undoing - A Double Drabble (Gandalf/Boromir/Frodo)

Wow! So powerful! At that moment Frodo might have hated him, but he wouldn't for long. He would know it was to save him. I love Boromir thinking of both moments of offering comfort to the grieving.

Author's reply

I think a captain's job, after a battle, was to comfort and sustain his men. Boromir felt that keenly on the quest, I think. Aragorn was way too busy trying to come to terms with what was next... as was only right. Difficult time for all. I wonder if perhaps Boromir was thinking of Faramir and what his response would be - to watch Mithrandir fall? Hmmm - plot bunny? Oh well - thanks for reading and responding... and enjoying!

Pearl Took · 4 September 2007 · Chapter 37: Gimli's Grief - A Tribble (Boromir/Gimli)

Wonderful insights! Yes, the huge magnificence of Dwarrowdelf and the wonder of what others can achieve.

Author's reply

It must have blown Boromir away. To think that a people half the size of Numenoreans would be able to build such a huge and magnificent city! Humbling for the Man of Gondor. Thanks for responding. xxxooo

Pearl Took · 4 September 2007 · Chapter 36: Future Site - A Tribble and a Half (Legolas/The Fellowship Minus One)

This is wonderous! Just how far along *is* Legolas? Trains? Automobiles? Yes, he could have been . . . and perhaps there are . . .

Author's reply

*giggles* - Hi, PT.... Yup - well into this age, I think. Whether he lingered, or the Valar let him return, or Elves still live on Arda ??? Thanks for reading these!

Larner · 2 September 2007 · Chapter 42: Behind Enemy Lines - A Drabble (Aragorn)

A hedgehog? How wonderful! So nice a small companion.

Author's reply

*giggles* glad you figured it out! It always seems to me, when one travels alone for a fairly long time, that even the simplest contacts can be important...

Larner · 2 September 2007 · Chapter 41: Arwen's Woe - A Drabble (Arwen)

Yes, frustration from the daughter of Elven Kings and great warriors among both the First and Second born! Alas! But she will find a soul-friend in Eowyn, I suspect!

Author's reply

I do so hope, Larner, that Arwen and Eoweyn became fast friends. Both knew the bitterness of sitting behind whilst the 'men' went off to deeds of glory. Though PJ put Arwen into the 'battle' - I don't believe, from what I read of LOTR and the Appendices, that Arwen did go out to battle. She was one of the heroes who sat at home and kept the fires burning, while preparing for all the warriors' needs. Thanks again for responding.

Larner · 2 September 2007 · Chapter 40: Where Is Home? - A Double Drabble (Finduilas)

Even grown women feel that way from time to time! Everything's gone wrong and nothing's as pleasant as one wishes, and NOT able to swim? Poor Finduilas!

Author's reply

Sometimes we just can't decide where we can be happy. Sometimes the grass looks greener on the other side. Sometimes, when we are away from familiar things, the unfamiliar seems cold; yet, when we get our wish and return to the familiar, we find it is not as 'wondrous' as we remembered. Difficult times for the Lady of Gondor. My heart went out to her. Many thanks for reading and responding!

elanor winterflowers · 30 August 2007 · Chapter 39: Not Forsaken - A Drabble (Boromir/Gimli)

Nice picture of comrades in arms. Great men seem to rise above themselves in war.

Author's reply

Ah yes, great men indeed. I most love those in the Fellowship. All valiant. *sobs quietly*

elanor winterflowers · 30 August 2007 · Chapter 38: Boromir's Undoing - A Double Drabble (Gandalf/Boromir/Frodo)

I expect him to pummel me in his anger and grief. But he holds on tightly, little hands clasping the cloth as he continues to scream... What a touching image that is--and memorable!

Author's reply

It had to have been so difficult for Frodo. He knew he could not go to Gandalf's aid, but to stand back and watch his friend fall... Hideous. So I can see him clutching Boromir so that he doesn't push away and ultimately fall with the Wizard. Frodo's sense of purpose is so strong. He knows what he must do - but to have to watch this, the first of many farewells and sorrows. All for his beloved Shire.... Thank you for sharing the sentence that touched you!

elanor winterflowers · 30 August 2007 · Chapter 37: Gimli's Grief - A Tribble (Boromir/Gimli)

VERY nice! Absolutely eloquent in its simplicity of expression. I do like your Boromir!

Author's reply

*blushes* Thank you very much, EW. I very much like Boromir.

Larner · 30 August 2007 · Chapter 39: Not Forsaken - A Drabble (Boromir/Gimli)

How wonderful a resolve here! Oh, but I've always loved Legolas.

Author's reply

Oh bless you, Larner. I think your mind is ever on the dear Elf, Legolas. This is another tale of Boromir - perhaps the two had more in common than we think???

Larner · 30 August 2007 · Chapter 38: Boromir's Undoing - A Double Drabble (Gandalf/Boromir/Frodo)

What a thing to remember as he faces his temptation from the Ring.

Author's reply

The book definitely states that both Aragorn and Boromir stayed at the edge of the bridge, with every intent to run forward and confront the beast with Gandalf. It did not happen. But there were other confrontations... and this one, I am sure, Boromir would have wished had not happened. It seems many things conspired to weaken this valiant warrior. I just love the man, anyhow; perhaps because of his weaknesses. Thanks so much for responding.

Larner · 30 August 2007 · Chapter 37: Gimli's Grief - A Tribble (Boromir/Gimli)

I've often felt that the visit to Moria was the beginning of understanding between Elf and Dwarf, and that the following visit to Lothlorien solidified it. Well done.

Author's reply

Oh Larner - I must not have quite written this well enough. The hand is Boromir's (movie verse). I think, if the Elf had not been busy guarding those with him, he would have noted and offered comfort too. I would love to find a tale that tells of the change in relationship between Dwarf and Elf while in Lothlorien... hmmm... perhaps a plot bunny has reared its ugly, furry head! Thanks for responding.

Larner · 30 August 2007 · Chapter 36: Future Site - A Tribble and a Half (Legolas/The Fellowship Minus One)

Future sight; future site. And he still wonders. Odd to think of Legolas lingering this long.... But at the last Boromir redeemed himself, and his own actions sparked the break that Frodo had to make....

Author's reply

Hi, Larner... I oft wondered if perhaps the Valar might allow Elves who had lived long ages on Arda to return now and again... Hence, this little tale. I do believe, in fact, I hope with all my being, that he did sale West with Gimli... As for Boromir - he did redeem himself, IMHO, and answered his destiny at the same time. Love that man thoroughly!

Larner · 27 August 2007 · Chapter 35: Tharbad - A Quadrabble (The Fellowship/Galadriel)

Now you have everyone's curiosity stoked! Heh!

Author's reply

I love the fact that story telling is supposed to be an 'Elvish thing' whereas - I cannot imagine the Hobbits not spending many a night telling tales... and being VERY picky!

Larner · 27 August 2007 · Chapter 34: The Green Parrot, Fourth Circle, Minas Tirith - A Tribble (Frodo/Sam/Merry/Pippin)

Very nice memorial to all those dear folk, both those who gave us the movies and those who watched them over the years it took to give them to us! Thanks to all!

Author's reply

If you ever get to NZ, make sure you stop in the Green Parrot - the people are most wonderful... and have been there forever!!!!

Larner · 27 August 2007 · Chapter 33: Frodo and the Ugly Chair - A Quadrabble and a Half (The Fellowship)

Okay! All these wonderful little quotes worked into a single absurdity!

Author's reply

Thanks, Larner - once in awhile, silliness can be creative. I had a blast working the quotes in.

Grey Wonderer · 26 August 2007 · Chapter 34: The Green Parrot, Fourth Circle, Minas Tirith - A Tribble (Frodo/Sam/Merry/Pippin)

The Stuffed Sheep? Not that is a great name for a pub! LOL

Author's reply

*giggles* - you know there were sheep somewhere around Gondor! Everywhere one looks in New Zealand sheep abound... so I thought it would be appropriate!

Pearl Took · 26 August 2007 · Chapter 35: Tharbad - A Quadrabble (The Fellowship/Galadriel)

This is an odd one, Agape. I went and read the chapters in the other story and it helped a bit, but this is still . . . odd.

Author's reply

I thought it might be hard to please Hobbits with tales... I believe they are probably about the best story tellers in Middle-earth. The Elves tales are all too dark and sad and disturbing. Personally, I wouldn't want to be one to share a tale with them. They'd be critical... LOL Sorry it didn't quite work for you.

Pearl Took · 26 August 2007 · Chapter 34: The Green Parrot, Fourth Circle, Minas Tirith - A Tribble (Frodo/Sam/Merry/Pippin)

You fortunate person! Sounds like you had a wonderful time in NZ. I agree with Pip - the song belongs anywhere there are hobbit having a good time! Well done!!

Author's reply

Hooray! Someone agrees with Pip! Next time we get together, we must sing a round!

Pearl Took · 26 August 2007 · Chapter 33: Frodo and the Ugly Chair - A Quadrabble and a Half (The Fellowship)

That's an interesting bit o' nonsense, m'dear Agape. Not sure if it means anything or not. Hmmmm . . . *hehehehe*

Author's reply

Once in awhile, one must be silly! I hope it made you laugh. I really had a good time putting 'movie' verse into this thing!

Edlyn · 24 August 2007 · Chapter 28: The Lady and the Servant - A Drabble (Galadriel/Sam/Frodo)

Oh, this one made me laugh! So very sweet and I just want to hug Sam and tell him that it's OK and I, at least, understand completely!

Author's reply

I love to roll on hillsides and such - it can be such fun - even as an adult. Dearest Pip would be the one I would have expected this behavior from - but perhaps Sam finally felt he could be free of 'watching out' for Frodo for a moment while in this blessed land of Lorien... and free to have some fun! Glad it made you laugh!
