Author Reply: Have been clicking around a bit and found that you can access all the stories I have at SoA if you do a "Search" and then select "Lindelea" from the pull-down list. All those pages display sucessfully. Of course, it's quite a list to wade through (is "prolific" a blessing or a curse? Sometimes when people use the word it sounds as if they're saying, "Get a life!" g), and the stories you asked about are on the fourth or fifth page of listings. And more coming, so long as the Muse does not move to Hawaii permanently. Whew.

Nice chapter. Once again you manage nicely to tie all the stories in you version of this universe together. I love the conhesiveness of it all. I hope the hobbits have changed the perceptions of some of the nobles by their words at this feast. Hopefully, Hilly is also getting an education on the behavior of civilized men. The story of the star was great. I really liked the image of Aragorn telling Pippin the story on the road to the Black Gate to help Pippin get to sleep dispite his uneasieness. I hope you plan to tell the story of Merry's healing. I love the King as Healer story, especially when he's helping the hobbits. Thanks again. Connie B. Author Reply: This was one of those fun chapters to write. I fear it might yet be a little choppy, but I've smoothed it out some. I had to cut it somewhat, after which it was still 2,000 words, but I didn't want to have to split it! Hilly is getting something of an education. He's seeing that Men can be noble, self-sacrificing, silly, pretentious, humorous, serious, and all the other things you see amongst hobbits... and that they know how to throw a good party. Very important! In any event, they're not all ruffians and bullies. He saw "Jack" through the lenses of suspicion, and let's face it, being bound probably didn't improve his opinion any. Yes, Merry's healing is due in the next chapter, or if it splits itself due to length, the one following that. Thanks for taking the time to comment!

I have a moment of foresight - you're looking at your future son-in-law Pippin! It's rather fun, jumping backwards and forwards in time - though it must be incredibly complicated keeping track. I like the very hobbity feast - and it is entertaining to see all those stiff nobles of Gondor sitting on the ground while the hobbits get the chairs - but 'turn about is fair play' as they say. Sam seems to be growing into a greater acceptance of his place in society, which is a good thing, even if he generally seems to look on it as a tribute to the unavailable Frodo. Shame Ferdi couldn't get there, it would do him good, but at least Hilly seems to be benefiting from the experience. I hope all three of them head down to the lake for a summer of partying with the king. Aragorn and Arwen could probably do with some exposure to hobbit cheer as a bit of a change from serious kinging. Author Reply: It is fun, and complicated, but I'm not sure I could have written these stories in chronological order... somehow one springs from another, and it might be an idea that foreshadows something to come, or a memory of something that went before, that spawns another story or several. Another thing that's fun is to look at an "old" story and see how the characters, fleshed out like Regi, Ev'ard and Ferdi are in later stories, are already "in character" and reflections of what they later become. It is as if these characters are already existing in the back of my imagination, fully formed, and each story reveals a bit more of them. Do you find that, in your writing? I'd like to head out to the Lake myself, one of these days, and not just for a brief visit. Thanks for commenting!
