What a cute picture--Merry and a four-year-old sticking tongues out at each other! LOL Slippery as a Took...wreckless as the Master's son... A lovely moment in the lives of our favorite hobbits! Thank you for sharing! :-) Pippinfan Author Reply: Thank you. This one refused to go away until I wrote it down. Seems "slippery as as Took on ice" line wanted to come out. Thanks for the review!

Love it! Merry coined the saying after pippin, shame on him... But it seems pippin did the same... Pippin even ate his cake,lol.... Love it! Great work... Author Reply: Yes, Pip got the cake and the last laugh, but you have to give Merry points for trying. LOL

What a fun little ending to the last chapter. Poor Pippin and Merry were so frightened. At least one of them is able to laugh about it now. Well done, both of them. Author Reply: Thank you! Glad you enjoyed my little after-thought. I don't usually do that, but this time I just had to.

"As slippery as a Took on ice" "As reckless as the Master's son" :::chortling::: What a clever story! And I love the way you write Merry and Estella together. (Wonder who the original phrase "Drunk as a Brandybuck" was coined after?) Author Reply: I wondered about the 'drunk as a Brandybuck' one also. I have no idea which Brandybuck has that honor. I enjoy Merry and Estella and I think it I ever have the nerve to do a romance story, they will be the ones that I write about. Second choice would be Saradoc and Esmeralda. I have done silly little bits and bobs about Pippin and Diamond, but I am always struck by Pearl Took's version of that romance. I suspect that I will stick to the humor/adventure type.

As slippery as a Took on ice. Good expression. As is Pippin's addition. Just goes to show how much they deserve each other. Author Reply: They do, don't they? LOL

lol! That was great! That Merry was the one to coin the phrase after Pippin was great, of course he would leave the part out about the prase coined after him! Thanks for the laughs! Author Reply: You have to watch Merry. He can be very tricky sometimes. LOL I am glad that you enjoyed this one and that it gave you a laugh.

Just to let you know, I did not realize I had somehow missed the previous chapter, so I *did* read "To Coin a Phrase" before "Snow and Ice." But even without the first half of the story, "To Coin a Phrase" *does* make sense. And both phrases are perfect for the hobbits in question. Author Reply: I just figured that without the first one that this one might be a bit confusing for the reader. It is good to hear that it is readable without the other one. Thanks for the review.

Just wonderful, tying these stories together. I so enjoy these stories, they are bright little spirit lifters :) Thank you!! Author Reply: Now that is just too nice of you, Pearl. Thank you so much. You have been the spirit lifter this time. Your reviews always brighten my day.

*chuckle* Good one, GW! "As slippery as a Took on ice..." has such a nice ring to it! So Bilbo wasn't the only one to coin phrases, huh? But there are so many other possibilities: "as firm as a Took stuck to a table"; "as frightened as a Took of chickens"; "talkative as a Took"; "as fond of tomatoes as a Took"; and let us not forget "as inventive as a Brandybuck" 8-D Author Reply: You should do an entire book of these phrases! LOL Seriously, the one for Pip, "as slippery as a Took on ice", comes from an old saying of my grandmother's which is actually "as slippery as a hog on ice" or sometimes, just "like a hog on ice". I have no idea where the saying comes from or what it means, but she uses it from time to time and it seemed to fit for Pippin's situation. To take one from you, how about "as musical as a Took", or "as sneaky as a Banks"? Thanks for the review!
