Trust a Brandybuck and a Took!  by Grey Wonderer 9 Review(s)
SaoirseReviewed Chapter: 20 on 4/30/2005
I love this one too

Merry is so terribly vain lol, but he is hilarious. Though I do believe that he wouldn't have said anything at all to Pippin when he was going to leave if he really didn't want him to stay.

This was my favorite line: '"What does the other half of the Shire wish?"

"Why that’s easy, Pippin lad," Merry said. "They wish they were you so they could spend so much time enjoying my company." ' Cocky little sod. LOL. I'm sure of that.

*snort* This one was great :) And this line, of course, was the sweetest, because we all know they adore each other to know end:

'"Yes, you do, because you are my best friend." Merry whispered softly, closing his eyes. '

Author Reply: Thank you. Glad it made you laugh. I have always suspected that because he was older and came from a very well-off family that Merry could be full of himself at times and Pippin, being the younger and eager to please cousin would catch the teasing. Thanks for the review!

Oh, my heart! That was so sweet! You have Pippin pegged to a T (hehehe...for Took!)--and that eeever soooo charming Brandybuck lad! You paint a beautiful picture of a lovely, lazy summer day in Buckland with two dear hobbits taking their ease on the banks of the Brandywine...friends for life. Thank you for sharing!

Author Reply: Thanks much for the review. This was one of my sarcastic-Merry moments. When I am feeling a bit smart-mouthed, then I let Merry do something like this. As you've probably guessed, I am feeling this way a great deal of the time. LOL

Beautifully done - Merry could be very aggravating, but he carries off. Must be because the Brandybuck lad is so charming.

Author Reply: That would be the reason, charm. LOL Thanks for reading!

That was great! I love the way that Pippin was a bit angry and ready to leave but Merry talked him out of it without really saying anything that would make him want to stay either, if that made since. I have a sister who can frustrate you to tears yet she always makes you laugh at the same time! I liked this it made me laugh "I guess I’ll have to let you hang around me for your own safety. You’re a bit touched and might get into trouble on your own." Thank you for the story!

Author Reply: Sounds like you and your sister are very close. That's a very special thing. Glad you got a laugh out of this one. Thanks for reviewing this!

Very lovely...The frienship and close bond between Merry and pippin... You put a lot of humor in it and you can feel merry's personality come forth.
Merry acts as though he wants pippin to leave him alone, but in the end whispers that he is his best friend....

Love it!

Keep up the great writing.......

Author Reply: I enjoy writing the silly ones more than the dark ones. This is easier for me than the "Home Again" story. I just enjoy humor. Glad Merry's personality showed in this one. Thanks for all of your reviews. Always helps me to know that someone got a luagh and enjoyed the story.

Ohhh, this is wonderful, G.W!! I love it! Merry is so pompous. You catch him well. People don't do that so well very often. I think they muddle up Sam the most; turn him into a pathetic, blubbering mess whose grammar is even worse than usual. That was one of the reasons I didn't write any fanfiction for awhile, I was afraid I'd dutter up my beloved characters.

Again, great job!

L.B.:o)

Author Reply: I have a very hard time writing Sam myself. I always want to put him on equal terms with the rest when I know that the hobbits had a class distinction. I think that's why I don't write him as much as I write the others. Hope you are writing again. It's too much fun to give up completely, isn't it? Thanks for the review!

Oh I just love vain!Merry, LOL! What a stinker! And poor Pip, trying so hard to be mad at him, with Merry giving him the old "don't laugh" treatment--priceless!
Meriadoc the Magnificent, indeed, and Peregrin the Long-suffering!

Author Reply: In this one, Merry is at that lovely age that lads go through where no one is better than anything than they are. LOL Poor Pip has always believed that Merry was better than everyone else at everything so he has trouble arguing the point. Thanks for reading.

My, Merry is full of himself isn't he? lol. Very funny.

Author Reply: He is doing a bit of bragging, isn't he? No lack of self-confidence in that one is there? Thanks for the review! Looking forward to more of a certain "Tale that Grew in the Telling".

I can so picture those two racals having this conversation!!! Great fun as always, thank you :)

Author Reply: I always think of Merry as the cheeky type, but only as a joke. I think he secretly enjoys teasing Pip. Glad you liked this one and I do so thank you for your lovely reviews.
