| The summary narrative of the seven days that Legolas nursed Aragorn was very effective at conveying their concern for each other and their dependence on each other. Aragorn even in his stupor is trying to see to his friend, but - poor Legolas - falls asleep again before he can actually do anything. The shift to Aragorn's POV and his demonstrably sharper mental state was effective, too. I liked Legolas walking into the cabin and matter-of-factly stating, "You're awake." Unfortunately, it seems that just as they have settled into a comfortable existence, that's all going to change! | |

Christmas has come and gone, and the new year is well under way, and.... I'M STILL HOLDING MY BREATH FOR THE UPDATE. *gasp* *gasp* *gasp* Begs begs begs.... Author Reply: Yikes! Breathe... breathe... the next chapter is well under way. Bad news: it is not done yet. Good news: it is well over twice as long as any of my other chapters. I am working on what I expect to be the last section, then off to my beta it will go. I am aiming for next weekend to update, but I cannot make any promises! | |

| Hi Nightwing, Great update! I wanted to review sooner but Christmas and a severe cold got in the way. :-( First of, the opening of this chapter was absolutely brilliant! :-D The first time I read it I nearly fell of my chair laughing. I love it! It sounds just like one of those arguments the elf and ranger would have without it actually being put into words. Though we do find out who the winner is: ;-) "the enraged elf had quickly declared himself to be the victor, for he would permit no other outcome." "So altered was the view from the window that he found it difficult to locate various features within it," Legolas won't have any problems finding things, even with eveything covered in snow. He can just walk over it and can't use his eyes anyway. I like the way you describe how Legolas finds everything he needs. The table looks completely cluttered but it's not for the elf. He uses a form of 'organized chaos'. YEAH! Tithlam is back in action. She's almost like Santa Claus, bringing gifts. Except this time their socks. Does she feel guilty about stealing them and is she trying to make up for it by returning them, or is it more like Legolas says: "She takes her self-appointed job as your nurse very seriously." I have noticed one thing. With all their plans of leaving they seem to have completely forgotten Tithlam. They take the horse with them but seem to have completely forgotten the cat. Would they have left her behind, or taken her with them? Though taking a cat with you on a long walk with a horse seems rather difficult. Again Legolas sacrifices himself. Not eating (or atleast sparringly) to save enough food for his friend to recover. I can not believe how thoughtfull and caring he is. And now the evil men come. And they only have Legolas and his knives to protect them. I don't think Legolas has retrieved his bow yet. It's too far from the house, he wouldn't have left Aragorn alone. I'm still hoping that help will come (like Alun or the wild men) or that the men that have arrived are not evil. But then why would they be 'surrounding' the cabin? Your cliffhanger is cruel!! I enjoyed writing the beginning of the chapter. The style was different for me, and I thought the humor came through pretty well. Yes, Tithlam is trying to be caring. She's based on a dog who gave me a sock one day when I was lying sick. And don't worry that the elf and ranger were going to leave Tithlam behind. They really didn't get a chance to finish their conversation. They certainly would have issued her an invitation. Evil men or good men? That's what cliffies are for... | |

| wow! i know i haven't reviewed for a while, but i am still with the story! this chapter was fantastic, especially "what the eye sees will always vanish, but what the soul sees can never be lost." that was the most perfect line! and the cliffy...i can't wait for chapter 33!!!!! Author Reply: Hello Elly, and happy new year. You know, I should give credit for that quote to someone or something. I heard a variation of it years ago, and it has stayed with me pretty powerfully ever since. But I cannot remember where I heard it. If I were to take a stab at it, I'd say it's Taoist. As for the cliffy, I'm rather freaked out myself. Now I have a fight to write involving a blind elf, and I'm scared to death! | |

| Thank you for yet another wonderful chapter :-) I really like the way you had Legolas change with his responsibilities - very believable to me. But the end of the chapter has me deeply worried - even though Aragorn is awake, neither of them is in the shape for a fight... I eagerly await your next update. | WHY haven't I read this yet. WHY? Thirty-two chapters posted, and I haven't noticed it ONCE! ARGH. I am not worthy... Nevertheless, it was a very nice way to spend three afternoons. Yes, yes, if you can't already tell, I am one of those sneaky readers that lurk about fanfiction websites with those nasty little habits of perusing everything without leaving reviews. My, my...When I put it that way, I sound like such an awful person. Shame on me. Maybe I'm just paranoid. Such a wonderful story, though, that it prompted me to comment. ...Actually, I'm just here to bother you into updating. Bother, bother, bother! Did it work? But, PFFFTHBBBT to you. ...That was intended to be some manner of tongue-noise, which is rather difficult to convey via the internet. You left me at a cliffhanger. Now I won't sleep properly for weeks. Darn you and your evidently diabolical literary style that draws the reader in with its seductively descriptive details and then drags the reader unwillingly (or rather willingly, in the case of angst-lovers like myself) to the edge of insanity with these dreadful cliffhangers which leave us clawing at the air for more. ...What a terrible run-on sentence. DIE GRAMMAR. ...But I digress. On to the story. ...FINISH IT!!!! But give us more Legolas angst. Lots more. Heh. Ah, that cat reminds me so much of my own...except that my cat would chew on the socks in a vain attempt to digest them rather than merely pilfer them from our dressers. Alas, alack, how WILL Aragorn manage to defend Legolas from those evil wizardy minion types with such painful lacerations to the hands? Time for Legolas to be captured! Or even better, time for BOTH of them to be captured! And...the horse can save them. Or the tree. Pff. This is why I don't write stories. Anyway, now that I have sufficiently wasted your time which could surely have been spent doing something constructive, I thank you for being such an enthralling storyteller. But update soon, for I fear my head might just explode with anticipation. Author Reply: I know, I know! And I've been waving frantically at you for months! "Hey Catoblepas, over here!" | Well, I have not reviewed often but I have kept up with this story from the beginning. Let me say, that I am enjoying it thoroughly. You have done a very good job of writing this tale so that your reader experiences each scene along with your characters. The journey for Legolas has been a long and harrowing one. I was personally relieved to see him finally come to grips with his blindness. I don't count it as a surrender, but as an acceptance of what is and Legolas' attempt to make the best of it. He has grown in leaps and bounds from when he was first injured, and for that I applaud him. Of course, this IS Legolas we are talking about, so I would expect nothing less from our noble Elf. It is obvious that his ability to accept and adjust has now become the life force that will keep he and Aragorn alive. I love how he rips his twin fighting knives out and is ready to go toe-to-toe with whomever the enemy is surrounding the cottage. Personally, I think the enemy doesn't know what they are in for when one enraged, fiercely protective Elf is unleashed upon them, and never mind the fact that he is blind to boot! Yes, I am anxious for our friends, but I feel certain that all is well that ends well, and that this tale will end well for Legolas and Aragorn at some point. I hope the cat winds up where she should. She has quite a bond to Legolas now that I think would override any homing instincts she may possess, but you are the author and know best for our furry friend. I have four of them that share my home with me and my husband. Life wouldn't be the same without them. Well, this is wonderful stuff. I'm anxious for the next chapter, so I hope you will be able to find the time to appease the appetites of all your clamoring fans and post again very soon. | Yes, another chapter! I agree with what has already been said about Aragorn's painful recovery,little Tithlam and her sock therapy,and the interaction between Aragorn and Legolas. I found Legolas' acceptance of his blindness rather sad, even though it seems to give him some peace. Now we have the mother of all cliffhangers! It's going to be agony waiting for the next chapter! As always, the story is wonderful. TF Author Reply: I suppose it is somewhat sad that Legolas has accepted his blindness, but it really needed to be done. Staying so angry and despairing really takes a lot of personal energy that could be put to better use. Thanks for reviewing.
