I am feeling so for poor Pippin and Merry. I so hope Pippin recovers soon.

The descriptions of Pippin's fever and his terrors is riviting. If I were wanting to bring him any message after that description, I believe I would give up hope of finding him alive. I think had I been Merimac I would have ridden back to Tuckborough to get his mother so she could tell him good-bye before he died or at least see him one more time. (I do realize that either direction he rides the result will be the same.) Merry must be frantic and poor Diamond con't risk the baby long enough to see him. I loved the squirrel as a warning sign in the tree. As to your explanation about the honey, I read the story in a chapter of "Thain" and then recalled it from "Rope". That would explain it all right! LOL Author Reply: Well, with Merimac's doubts for Paladin's safety, and Paladin's track record for not coming to his son's bedside after the stable fire at Brandy Hall, he probably figured it was a safer bet to ride to Pippin and chirk him into recovering rather than trying to persuade Paladin to go to Pippin's bedside, or allow Eglantine to go. Did I mention that honey story in "Rope"? Really? I don't remember! LOL

Pippin really paid pretty close attention. Esmeralda seemed surprised as well with all of the things he seemed to have found out. It must be terrible for him to try and fight these dreams and then to think/know that others are thinking he is dying. I hope the Badger gets to deliver the messages he needs to. Of course I know Pippin won't die but all the same the hurt of it all always makes me worry, even when I know the ends. Looking forward to more, and hope it's soon! Author Reply: Well, the Badger was able to deliver a little part of his news, though Pippin wasn't in any shape to hear it. Thanks!

Oh dear, Pippin is at death's door again. He has more lives than a cat. No wonder he was so fragile in the early years of his Thainship. He had survived being crushed, the old gaffer's friend and this illness all in a few short years. I know the crushing and pnuemona damaged his lungs, but did this illness also damage his heart? Please write more soon, now that the computer is working. The suspense is killing me. Thanks. Connie B. Author Reply: Still more suspense, but we're very close to the end now. No, I don't think his heart was permanently damaged by this fever; it's just that the illness was so stressful Ossilan thought his heart would fail or burst during the worst fits. But you know that he's going to cheat the Reaper again, don't you? Thanks!

Poor Pippin! I can't wait for more! Author Reply: Poor Pippin. We're exhausted. Good thing he's in a relatively calm sleep for a bit.

Ok. Alright. I hate to do this as it's most hard on the writer, but . . . please hurry!!!! I feel in dire need to know what happens next! VWD, m'dear! :) Author Reply: Why thank you! I'd really rather read another chapter of "While We Dwelt" before settling down to type in the next chapter... but there's no time for either. Lunch break is over and Real Life is taking on a demanding tone. Appreciate the good word, and will see to typing in the next chapter just as soon as may be.

OMG! It takes a bad turn. Poor Pippin! I think if he only wakes enough from his fever dreams to recognize Merry at his side, he well calm down and sleep better. But it seems, he doesn't recognize anyone anymore. Can't wait for the next update - but I must! BTW, your update frequency is really amazing :) Author Reply: Must give credit where credit is due. I find readers who take the time to comment quite motivating, when it comes to updating frequently. Most of the stories I post are completely written in draft before I start posting them, but readers' comments help to shape the revision that happens in the posting. ("Thain" is an exception; it was completely outlined and a number of chapters out of the last half already written, but all that has gone missing and is painfully being re-created a little at a time.) So long as the computer cooperates and my schedule doesn't self-destruct I ought to be updating five or six times a week again. Nice to hear from you!
