| This is such a strain for poor Merry. And I don't like to think how Diamond is coping. But I can certainly see why the new arrival gets the name of Faramir. I hope the rising flames burn the fever out - just in time for the next crisis to strike! Author Reply: Next crisis? Coming right up. | Oh dear! To be trapped in nightmares and for them to not even be the same as what really happened! The flames, even though they are of fever, burning him as he tries to find Gandalf in delirium! It must be terrible for the others to witness as well, for Pippin to be so sick and none of them able to do anything about it. How hard! I hope more is soon! | Poor Pippin! (I seem to be saying that a lot lately?) Forced to relive the siege and all its terror. How hard all this must be for Merry, not able to get through to him this time. Author Reply: "this time" --ah, you caught that. I had this funny flash while writing, of Pippin and Merry in Crickhollow, Pippin dreaming, Merry unable to sleep, holding complete conversations... and somehow Pippin's wit (like his crack about "Nose?") would comfort Merry, restore his perspective, and allow him to drop off and sleep. And somehow Merry would, at the same time, be able to jog Pippin out of the rut his nightmare thoughts were running in and onto a different path. I hope I'm making sense. This is Day 2 of Kicking Coffee. | |

| Don't stop here! Evil cliffie! Must have more, soon! Loved the Master and Mistress watching poor Pip, clinging to each other. Really shows dire the situation is. What's Diamond been up to while she can't get near Pippin? I imagine she's going through a good share of angst, worrying about her husband. Author Reply: You're gonna laugh. I think she's in the kitchens, baking seedcake. One, it's something productive to take her mind off everything. Two, it's a declaration of faith, that Pippin will get well. More Monday, I hope. Don't know if I'll have any time over the weekend to type in the next chapter. Will try, of course. Just cannot promise anything. Thanks! | |

| Interesting chapter. I take it he's going to relive the whole quest before all is over. I did find one tiny typo. I think you meant to write cloths and you accidently wrote clothes. I couldn't help but laugh especially since the scene was such a tense one. Thanks. Connie B. Author Reply: Funny, we both missed that one! My editor-friend has already gone through it once... LOL. Pippin won't relive quite the whole Quest. As a matter of fact, the Pyre of Denethor is probably the climax of the dreams. We're very close to the end of the story now! Thanks for the catch! | |

| AAAAHHHH!!! I'm writhing with him!! That horrible, terrible not being able to speak or scream, one of the worst of nightmares. And even Merry unable to reach him. *sigh* My poor, dear little brother!!! VWD Author Reply: Yes, the horrible terrible silence-nightmare, along with the running-through-molasses nightmare, closely followed by the caught-in-your underwear nightmare and the it's-the-end-of-the-semester-and-the-test-is-tomorrow-and-somehow-I-forgot-to-go-to-class-for-weeks-or-even-crack-open-the-book nightmare... Whew. Perhaps the Quest is not such a bad thing to dream about after all. Thanks! | |
