Dear BB! A splendid beginning to what I can see will be a well-wrought story! YOur dialogue flows off the page and it seems so natural. Exactly the way I imagine that Hobbits would take. You've delineated each of the hobbits personality really well. I love what Sam says about his not being a hero. >"I'm no hero - that's for others. I did what I did because I would never leave >Frodo. Guess I'm just stubborn." This statement just sums up Sam in a nutshell. (Small nutshell sitting there looking unassuming, mind you.) hee-hee! I can sense the warmth and love spilling over in this story! I really like the attention to details about hobbits respect for their wives and how none would ever think about violence, (except Ted sandyman) The choice of Ted sandyman was an inspiring choice of Hobbit character gone somewhat south! Written by one who understands the Hobbit way of life! Really loved the story, I read the other Chapter tomorrow morning when I'm more awake! The penitent PEF Author Reply: My dear MM! Thank you for your thoughtful comments, and I'm so glad you like the story. Ted Sandyman is certainly the best example of a hobbit character gone off the rails - I have another story in my head in which this is even more obvious. Yes, Sam is a very unassuming hobbit. :-)) I just love writing about hobbits having fun.

I adored all of your happy little hobbit children. This was a very sweet story. I loved Pervinca's little daughter. Author Reply: Little Persimmon just appeared in the story but she is adorable. Hobbit children seem to be very cute. I think she will be making more appearances.

Oh boy! Here we go again! Lovely! Just lovely! I'm so glad to see this gathering at Brandy Hall, and to see the way all Frodo's relations are delighting in his recovery! I know when I read one of your lovely "Reunion-verse" stories that I'm just grinning like a fool the whole time! Author Reply: Oh my! Now I shall think of you grinning whenever you read a chapter. :-)) This particular universe has become quite addictive, and the stories seem to write themselves. Not sure quite how this one will turn out, but I'm as interested as you!

I already know that any story of yours is going to make me happy, because the hobbits will be happy! I adore how all the children are in love with their Uncle Frodo. "Frodo, my lad, welcome back to Brandy Hall and to your family." *happy sigh* Author Reply: I have had grumbles from people in the past, who say my hobbits are too happy! I can write angst for them, but I enjoy giving them some fun. There will probably be a little angst in later chapters, but nothing too bad. I just have the feeling that Frodo is good with children, and they are drawn to him. Glad it is making you happy!
