Oh, this is definitely how things ought to be; particularly with Gandalf still in Middle-earth (well, Frodo too of course)! Author Reply: Well, at least in THIS universe! It's so much fun to enjoy a much happier ending than we were given in canon every now and again. I do like to play with a "happy AU" once in a while.

you have painted exactly how startled these lads must be, imagine an everyday fixture in your life is actually the hope diamond, and you thought all it did was turn on the water! Author Reply: Well, they'd heard the stories all their lives, but the impact it made in the world was beyond them--I'm sure it was much like when the young hobbits heard Bilbo's stories: exciting, but not exactly real to them! I like your metaphor!

Oh, Dreamflower! That gave me goosebumps and brought tears to my eyes!! I like that universe. Frodo would have been such a wondeful uncle, just how you described him. Funny, gentle, playing with his many, many neices and nephews. That is certainly the beauty of fanfiction, we can play with the "if only..."s Hannon le for this moving story. Namarie, mell nin! God BLess, Frodo Baggins Author Reply: Yes. While the ending that JRRT gave us was beautiful and poignant and appropriate, it is so hard not to think of a way it could have been "better"--in the sense of a "happier" ending for our favorite people. I think Frodo would indeed have been a wonderful "uncle" to all the children of his nearest and dearest. I am glad that you like it. I do plan to "play" a bit more in this Universe from time to time.

Yes! That is indeed as it should be! Oh, I almost got tears in my eyes reading this, Dreamflower! I thought of that magnificent scene in the movie when everyone is cheering, and this gave me the same feeling. Just beautiful! As to that other bit of the universe, if you post it elsewhere, I would love to have the web address. God bless, Galadriel Author Reply: Yes, that was the scene I had in mind. And for movie-verse, it was a more than acceptable substitute for Cormallen (and of course, I'd rather have had Cormallen, but it was a beautiful scene nonetheless, and I cheered aloud myself when I saw it.) When I do start posting it, it will be on my LiveJournal, at least to start. I have some bits of it fleshed out, but I need a little more before I start posting.

No wonder Frodo had to retire to Minas Tirith to finish his book! Somehow I doubt *anyone* would be able to concentrate on this with all the little Gamgees around! Loved the way you had them honour the hobbits! Was it inspired by the last scene in Minas Tirith in the movie („you bow to no one“)? I always loved this! It is so good to have particularly Frodo receiving his due of honour and respect, and it is moving to see them all on their knees to honour the Ringbearer. Author Reply: Well, yes, Bag End *is* a bit crowded. And the weather's warmer, and there's a big library, and he has Gandalf handy for any questions. Indeed, it was inspired by that! While I so much missed the Cormallen scene (which I would have dearly loved to see) I considered that scene an acceptable substitute! When I saw it the first time, I cried out *Yes!* right there in the theater, embarassing my poor husband, I'm sure.

this is how it *should* be! *Sigh* How I wished this could have been possible! Yesterday I came to the end of "The Lord of the Rings" for the umpteenth time, and it always makes me so sad that Frodo has to leave! Thank you for your Eucatastrophy Universe, which I like very much :) Author Reply: I do like my Eucatastrophe-verse very much as well--I'm glad you enjoy it!

Yes, this is as it should be. Author Reply: Well, if the Three had not faded, it might have been possible, maybe.

I do love your AU, Dreamflower, and it was so nice to see Frodo being acclaimed. At last the youngsters will realise that it isn't just stories told around the fire at home, and they know that their fathers and uncle are all heroes. I'm just doing something myself, in honour of the day. Author Reply: I like seeing him acclaimed, and recieving his just due, and being able to enjoy it. And yes, this brings it home like nothing else could, to the younger generation. I know you did--and I loved it! Elanor was so cute!

Wouldn't this bring it home to the young hobbits! Their fathers and Frodo are not just grown ups wittering about some meaningless past, but real heroes before whom the King of the Reunited Realm and all his subjects kneel. Author Reply: It's quite one thing to hear the stories over and over, until the edges are worn off by familiarity, and from knowing the subjects of them so well; and it's quite another to see the actual *results* of theose stories, from total strangers.
