Uh, Estel smashed into the pines? Glad he seems to have come out of this without broken bones. He really should have listened to his horse! There’s a saying that translates to „Leave the thinking to the horses, they have the bigger heads“ and there is some truth in it sometimes ;) But really, Glorfindel telling him Elrond is having the time of his life is just ridiculous lol And somehow I am not sure more outings with Ada would be healthy for Estel evil grin Oh well, I’m glad they can still joke around. Love the story Glorfindel used to cheer Estel up – from Elrond getting the army lost up to Glorfindel telling the rain to stop. You know, I could use our favourite balrog-slayer and this amazing ability now and then – whichever deity is responsible for the weather here, it is never listening to me! Author Reply: I think Glorfindel was just trying to assure Estel that his adar did not regret bringing him on the trip. As for the weather deity... I'm afraid I have no influence with him/her. Sorry.

I feel bad laughing at what is a rather serious moment, but I am so enjoying seeing references to my stories woven in here that I am like a gleeful little kid on Christmas morning. As for poor Estel, I think you are taking the sum of everything that could happen or could go wrong, and including it! Getting sick from the rain, falling off the cliff, I am looking forward to goblins, as they are sure to make an appearance. :D Author Reply: I am afraid I was shameless in pilfering from other writers, including you, but it was a way of saluting other writers whom I admire and also bringing this story into the wider "Middle-earth universe" that other writers have created. I remembered the "lost" scene mentioned but not actually described in your story and decided to "fill in the gaps", so to speak. Glad you are enjoying "seeing yourself" in this story.

hums a little Carly Simon Whew! I was very concerned about the injuries that Aragorn might suffer from his fall. Luckily that tree was there to slow him down some! I loved the way Aragorn was encouraged to apologize to Mithfaron for not listening! Once again, the use of the herbs was so interesting, and I AM taking notes! "And will someone turn off this thrice-bedamned rain!" I LOVE IT! Glorfindel and his direct line to the One in charge of the weather! I'll just bet everyone was standing there with their mouths hanging open! And it's nice to see that Elrond was not always the in-control, informed elf he has become at present. (Gee, that was a rather convoluted statement.) Glorfindel is so good with Aragorn, the way he is encouraging him and trying to build his confidence, especially in light of all the bad luck lately! The little exchange at the very end between Elrond and Glorfindel is priceless - very funny! At least they are in the foothills and safe for the time being (of course 'safe' is a relative term in a story like this...) Great chapter, Fiondil! trots off singing a medley of John, Carly, and Cass and Co. linda :-) Author Reply: Those of you who have been reading Nilmandra's "History" stories might recognize the inspiration for the "lost" scene that Glorfindel describes. Elrond's reference to Elrohir's foot, of course, is from her "Glorfindel's Folly". I found as I was writing this story that I was obliquely referring to the tales written by others whom I've read and enjoyed on SOA.I had a lot of fun writing this and Alassiel said she was falling out of her chair when she got to this scene, especially hearing Glorfindel swear.

Breathes a sigh of relief So Estel's going to be all right. I didn't think you would injure him THAT badly :P That story about Elrond and Glorfindel was funny---especially the beam of light. g Author Reply: Yeah, this was a fun scene to write, although I wasn't sure how to write it at first until I happened to glance up at a poster hanging in my living room that has the caption "What do you mean, we're lost?" When I saw that, I could hear Elrond saying it and all of a sudden I was in the scene and I just started writing it. I thought the beam of light was a nice touch, myself.

Very interesting chapter,its hard to believe old Elrond could make a mistake, I am also finding it very educational learning about all these herbs. Author Reply: Hey, even Elrond had to have his nappies changed, so it stands to reason he grew into his wisdom just like the rest of us. Glad you're enjoying this story.
