Dear Fiondil, I know you had asked to leave reviews only at the last chapter, but I am not sure when I will have a chance to finish reading and wanted to tell you how much I am enjoying this story. Kaylee had highly recommended your work, both for readability and use of canon and elven language, and it is even better than I expected. It is wonderful to read such an engaging account of a young Estel/Aragorn with his foster family, going through the experiences that would mold him into Strider/Aragorn. I am working on what has turned into a fairly long story about how Faramir came to be called Wizard's pupil, and a ranger of Ithilien, and how he and Aragorn came to work together after ROTK, and I've found your work very inspirational in respect of what might have been Aragorn's background, and his relationships with his elven foster family. Thanks again! Susana Author Reply: Hello Susanna, No problem. You can leave reviews for any and all chapters. I've actually forgotten I'd put that in about reviewing at the end of the story. I'm not sure why I did that. I'm going to remove that sentence as being irrelevant. *grin* I'm glad Kaylee pointed you to my stories and that you are enjoying this one. I am also glad to know that you find my work inspirational as well. Thanks for letting me know. I really appreciate it. Good luck with your own story. It sounds quite interesting.

I couldn't help but chuckle every time Radagast referred to Elrond or Glorfindel as an elfling. The month together while Estel healed physically also allowed mental healing to take place, which I think, brought all three closer together. Wouldn’t it have been fun to see Estel face when he first saw Throngil and then heard him speak? Author Reply: They all needed that month to heal, as you say. And for Radagast, even the oldest elf is an elfling *grin* I can just imagine Estel's face when he spoke with the Eagle. Obviously it was something he never forgot since he used the Eagle's name as his nom de guerre when he went to Rohan.

Ah, I knew it, that had to be poison. And a very nasty one, from the looks of it. If it causes hallucinations and paranoia, then that explains a lot. Um ... did I mention before that you’re evil? ;) I feel really sorry for Elrond and Glorfindel, but I am sure they realise it was not Estel speaking when he was making his accusations. Still, it is not easy to deal with such an experience. But somehow I am glad Elrond told Estel what he said in his delirium; as the lad realised that he had said something ... unfortunate anyway, it was better than to keep things silent and Estel wondering, I guess. And now the matter's out of the way, hopefully forever. The visit of Thorongil was a high honour, though his last words were rather cryptic for anyone who doesn’t know the details of the Ring War yet. I’m sure Aragorn will remember them later on, after the fall of Barad-dur. Author Reply: That combination is very deadly and Estel is lucky to be alive and sane. It will take some time for the wounds (both physical and emotional) to heal but they will and they will all be stronger for it.

Aconite? It's a wonder he wasn't paralyzed! Nasty stuff! And ergot, of all things! Have seen a couple people paranoid on LSD--not a nice thing to observe. And now the healing comes, strengthening the bonds, for they've been tested and have held. And the hope unlooked for? Well, we know about that! Author Reply: Yes, a very nasty combination, but then orcs aren't nice people anyway. And the healing begins and with it strengthening of bonds. The healing won't be immediate but it will come.

I've been reading this story and really enjoying it, but havent taken time to review until now. I have to tell you how much I like your Radagast. When I've seen him (and written him), he's normally more of a simpleton. I realize that even a 'simple' Maia would be more advanced than a man, but this is the first time I've seen him as a Wizard, standing up to elf lords. Really like it. Author Reply: Hi nautika! I'm glad you are enjoying this story. I always felt that Tolkien short-shifted Radagast in LOTR, although I think what we are seeing is not Gandalf's views on his fellow Maia but Saruman's. This is especially true when you read about the forming of the Istari and how Saruman resented Radagast's inclusion in the group. I've tried to make Radagast just as powerful, in his own way, as Gandalf, so that elf-lords in a snit don't faze him. Besides which, "simple" and "simpleton" are not synonomous. *grin*

I am so loving Radagast. Any one who can leave Elrond and Glorifindel with their collective mouths hanging open has got to be a wizard. Great chapter as usual. Oh, I love your chapter titles, I'm probably showing my age because I can name all the original titles. LOL Author Reply: None of the commentators have really mentioned the chapter titles, so I wasn't sure if they "worked" or not. I had lots of fun coming up with them, and I'm showing my age too considering some of the original titles haven't been heard in decades. Glad you're enjoying them and the story.

Wow i had all those chapters to read!what a excellent fic this is it's keeping me glued to the computer, loved the chase and battle with the orcs and the bears and Thorongil coming to the rescue.Radagast iv'e always been interested in him as you don't hear much about him in many fics but you have bought him to life for us readers cheers.I also liked Elrond and Glorfindel's reactions to Estel's dilerium i thought Elrond was going to drop dead on the spot and Glofindel's temper wouldn't like to get on the wrong side of him LOL.Please keep writing this wonderful piece thanks Fawlen. Author Reply: Thank you, Fawlwen. I'm glad to hear you're enjoying the story. The story is in fact finished, but the last few chapters are still being beta-read, so I am putting the chapters out in dribs and drabs until they are all corrected. However, I hope to have the entire story posted by early next week. I'm glad you like "my" Radagast. I've always thought him to be an interesting character and was sorry Tolkien didn't write more about him and his role as an ithron/istar. Glad you're enjoying him.

another great chapter! i especially liked glorfindel and elrond in this; their friendship is usually not portrayed that well, but you write them almost like some people write aragorn and legolas, which i love! And estel's reaction to finding out what he said to his adar was brilliant, it strongly demonstrates the love that is really between them. oh, an Gwaihir sending a message to elrond about taking better care of estel? Loved it! I'm wondering if the story of the twins nearly getting estel killed is actually somewhere in these archives, because it sounds like it would be a really good read! Author Reply: Glad you are enjoying the story and that you think that I've portrayed the friendship between Elrond and Glorfindel well. I don't know if there is such a story in the archives about the twins almost getting Estel killed, the idea just came to me as the last time Estel ever heard Glorfindel call anyone a son of a balrog. Yet, it does sound like it might be a real good read, doesn't it?
