| What a charming story! Such lovely bits-- Bilbo, always with a clean handkerchief, Halbarad smiling over knowing his 'trade', Scamp's silky ears. Serindë's feared "complex medical procedure". And Hee, you made Aragorn wash his hair! I so enjoyed Bilbo's selfless competence, Frodo and Aragorn's bravery. I love how you made Frodo believeably independent, and Bilbo's intelligent recognition and support of it. Aragorn's vision--and the star on his brow! The oath made me cry. “There are many treasures here," Halbarad murmured. So very true! Author Reply: Oh wow, thank you so much! I do try to weave rather a lot into these stories, and it's so nice to know that everything seems to 'work'. I do love these folks, and their interactions. They're *all* such 'treasures'. :D | |

| Yeah!!! The puppies have arrived at long last ... and what cuties they are! I'm glad Scamp had an easy labor, not that you would have her do otherwise. :D I just love in the begining how Bilbo cares for Frodo ... how he makes sure he is comfortable with pillows and the blanket, and also how he warns Frodo that Scamp might not be herself around them as she gives birth. I'm glad to see that Bilbo warned Frodo that she might even snap--very important for him to know as he is still very wary of dogs (save Scamp) after being chased by Farmer Maggot's. Sam opened his mouth to reply, but nothing came out except for a small squeak. Suddenly he leaped up and threw himself into his father’s arms, and Hamfast hugged his young son tightly. This was the sweetest chapter yet, Shirebound! Aragorn remembers everything and then some and Sam is overjoyed at receiving not only one, but TWO of the puppies. I doubt he'll be able to sleep at first due to his excitement. Will Frodo and Sam hold another adoption ceremony for the pups, like they did for Scamp a few years before? Author Reply: The one thing I always knew about this story, was that Scamp wouldn't have a lick of trouble birthing some adorable, healthy pups! Thank you so much for your lovely words. Another adoption ceremony! I never thought about that. If I ever get inspired to write it, I'll certainly give you credit for the idea! :D | |

| Ahhhh, what a lovely chapter, and what a delight for Sam! I had to giggle at this line, however: "He fervently hoped she wouldn’t name him after any complex medical procedure." I loved the scene with Aragorn in the little cave, and his mystical experience. I have been fascinated each time you've written about that cave and the drawings. I hope that you may do more some time! Author Reply: I'm curious to find out what Serinde *will* name him! But we'll have to wait for SurgicalSteel to tell us. Thank you so much. | *triple squeeeeeee!* Oh my word! That wonderful scene in the cellar with Aragorn meeting his father and remembering his lineage was so touched with the magic of Middle-earth. Then a soft-hearted Hamfast and a joyful and speechless Sam. And new-born puppies!!!!!!!!!! Am I allowed a teensy squidge? *keels over with an overdose of fluffage* Author Reply: Thank you so much, BB. I've been trying to imagine that scene down in the cellar since I first started writing this story. And I've been trying to imagine the puppies, too! I'm so thrilled we all get to meet them at last. *carefully puts a soft, yawning, snuggly pup in your lap* | |

| Ooooooh, so much to love in this chapter! Well worth the wait! PUPPIES! Halbarad blinked in confusion as a star seemed to flicker for a moment on Aragorn’s brow. You've got such a way of sprinkling magic into your stories. This line made me shiver! He stepped out of the room to wash his hands, and quickly returned. Hahaha, I know a healer in Bree who'd be very proud that Aragorn washed before a procedure, even when the patient was a dog. Sam opened his mouth to reply, but nothing came out but a small squeak. Suddenly he leaped up and threw himself into his father’s arms, and Hamfast hugged his young son tightly. Ah, you got me here! I've gone all weepy! *hugs you* Author Reply: And what a privilege it is, to be able to sprinkle a bit more magic into the Professor's amazing Tale.
