| Count me as another one who would love to see another story on this, showing the reactions from the families when Merry and Pippin arrive home. I love the banter between these two and the little details were so believeable - love the Pippin logic on this, and Merry grumbling about his ill-fitting waistcoat! Author Reply: Thank you! I don't know if there will be more but I am not counting out the possibility. In fact, I never dreamed that there would be two stories on the same subject that I absolutely had to write! | This is as enjoyable as your other story on Merry's and Pippin's Ent draught induced growth spurts! I especially loved the natural pitter-patter of the banter between the two cousins. I think you are right that they first would look to external reasons for why their clothing did not fit right. While it might be plausible for Pippin to grow a little since he is not yet an adult, the idea that both he and Merry have grown, and grown that much that their clothing is so ill-fitting, must seem outrageous. | LOL! What a wonderful short tale exploring just how Merry and Pippin learned on their own that they grew overnight! Merry checked the small adjustment belt in the back which allowed him to tighten or loosen the waistcoat. This was particularly helpful after a large meal. LOL! So that's why that little buckle is often on the back of a vest?! Only a hobbit could come up with that idea! Merry never liked looking improperly dressed. An ill-fitting waistcoat was simply something that he could not abide. Funny to see Merry being such a perfectionist over his clothing--he must have learned that from the fastidious Frodo that is often portrayed. I just love how you have Merry getting all worked up about his suddenly ill-fitting clothes and Pippin just taking it all in stride, hoping he's grown. "It's a shame that when you wash something it doesn't sometimes get larger," Pippin said. "Now, that is the most ridiculous idea you've had in some time," Merry sighed Don't worry, Pippin. I fully agree with you on that point. It would be very nice indeed if some of my clothes came out of the wash a tad bigger. Oh, I don't think Pervinca's filthy bedraggled orphan remark would have gone oover well with Frodo at all. I can just picture his stare ... and I love his own remark to young Pippin afterwards. 'A proper orphan' Hehe. Another lovely little story, Grey Wonderer. Just one question, will we ever see a scene in which Pippin does indeed rap Sancho on the head (or everyone else for that matter?) Author Reply: Thank you so much for the lovely review. I am very glad that you enjoyed this. I do think it would be nice if we had something to wash clothing in that made it bigger. Think of the savings! But some things really are fiction, aren't they? I don't know if there will ever be a story about Sancho and Pippin after Pippin returns home but it could happen. Notice the question mark next to The End? Even I am not completely certain. | |

| ROTFL!! This was hilarious! LOL, letting out their braces so that their trousers would look longer! I can't say it enough, but hearing the comical banter back and forth between these two is medicine to my soul right now. :-) "Filling in the corners" sounds like a fun place! I may have to take a gander as soon as I get a moment. G.W., you can write about all the growing hobbits you want and ent draughts as well and I'll read it, lol. I always enjoy your tales! I thought my Hobbit Height question was a bit silly but they quickly jumped in there and helped me sort it all out just as if it were a key issue in a huge canon story. They were all great and I can't thank them eough. The site is run by Gryffinjack and she does an excellent job. Stop in and lurk if nothing else. He had removed his waistcoat and had left it back at the Ent house. Merry never liked looking improperly dressed. An ill-fitting waistcoat was simply something that he could not abide. LOL!!! That's our Merry! Nothing is worse than an ill-fitting waistcoat ;-) That was great, G.W. and absolutely believable. With only the Ents around they had no-one to compare to properly. And, think about it, to have grown at that age is ridiculous. So the only logical explanation was that the clothes had shrunk. Only when their companions arrived did they really realize what happened. I loved all those details about their clothing - and the question mark behind "The End" :) I would very much enjoy another chapter. | Heehee, this is wonderful! I love that they grew a little bit at a time, and didn't shoot up all at once. I think you need to write one more about everyone's reaction when they get home. All the best stories are in trilogies and this one needs a third part to make it right. *pushes an eager plot bunny into your lap* :D Author Reply: More bunnies? Errol will be jealous if the place fills up with strange bunnies. LOL Glad you liked it and I just might have to deal with Sancho at some point but for now I think I will let my obsession with height settle down a bit. | This came out so well! I love the way they discuss all the little things *we* discussed, LOL! It all came out very naturally and not forced at all--even the part about the waistcoat. I found it quite believable that they did not truly realize they had grown (well, Pippin thought they might have, but he wasn't sure) because until they saw their friends again, they had nothing to compare it to. But once they realized that they were coming up higher next to their friends, they had to realize they really had grown. (I can see them now--"Well, we used to only come up to Gimli's shoulder, and now we come up to his chin!") Author Reply: I thought that Pippin would be more than willing to believe he'd grown because he might want that to be the case and he is more inclined to believe the impossible. I figured that Merry would have to exhaust all other reasonable possibilities before he would be likely to entertain such an out landish idea! I tried to use as much from the discussion on Filling in the Corners as I could. It was all excellent material. I almost didn't get the mention of laundry in there but I finally worked it in.
