Lovely! Have you got any particular tune in mind?

Kaylee

Author Reply: Not really, although this one makes me thing of the Whovians carol in "How the Grinch Stole Christmas"; I don't think the tune fits exactly, but it's something like that...

This is the type of cheerful Yule song that personifies 'Hobbits' in every way. Family, hearth and home. Dear friends not excluded.

Author Reply: Thank you! I do try to capture the spirit of "hobbity-ness"!

And so I hoped the four of them sang this to themselves or each other during the Quest and remembered who and what it was they were fighting for. Lovely, loving song.

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: Oh, thank you for that thought! Perhaps they did!

Aw! What a lovely carol! It's so warm and fuzzy and hobbity! :D

Author Reply: Thank you! That's just the mood I was aiming for! 8-)

This is so wonderfully crafted!

"Though the world is dark and cold,
While we have a hand to hold,
And we are safe within the fold,
Our spirits may be brave and bold!"

I can't think of anything more Tookish than that! No doubt the Bagginses or Gamgees of the Shire would change the wording. ;-)

You and a few others make poetry look so simple, but I know it isn't. Well...maybe just a wee bit. ;-) Most excellent, Dreamflower. :-)

Author Reply: Well, yes, the "brave and bold" *is* rather Tookish. But any hobbit can be brave in a pinch, LOL!

I'm glad you liked it!

Lovely! Two other things come to mind from this. One is the Who's "Welcome Christmas" song from the television film made of Dr. Suess's "How the Grinch Stole Christmas." Welcome Christmas, bring your light..., Christmas day is in our grasp, as long as we have hands to clasp..., Christmas Day will always be, just as long as we have we! And, of course, the ultimate "Grinches" had to be the men and other "creatures" who invaded the Shire and stole not only food for Yule feasts, but most everyone's light and hope for that long winter that the Travelers were off fighting the War of The Rings. I could imagine the Tooks barricaded in their holes, with little more that their Yule logs for comfort, but never-the-less clinging to each other and singing this and other songs to hold back the dark and look for the return of hope.

Tolkien's stories, and Dreamflower's, are full of light, on many levels. And Christmas is the season of light. Christmas blessings to you!

Author Reply: Do you know, I'm so glad you brought the Whos up, for I've always thought that a perfectly beautiful Christmas song, and very hobbity. And I sort of think this one kind of scans to that tune. And yes, I can see just the scenario that you picture here.

Thanks and blessings on you as well!

Lovely Dreamflower. Are we going to see or have you used it in a fic yet?

Author Reply: No, this one just came to me, but I am quite sure I will at some point use it in a fic--most of my songs are, sooner or later.
