Ooops! If I was in Gloin's boots I'd be packing my belongings in a spotted hanky on a stick by now! I don't think Nandi is going to be impressed when she hears about this Quest - and her son's new friends! I have a very bad feeling about this........... I too would love to see the moment when Gimli does arrive home - with his new best friend in tow! Author Reply: Yes, there's going to by all kinds of explaining being done in that household. Thanks for reading and taking the time to comment!

Just wanted to add that I love Gimli's mother and I'm also glad you showed that it was difficult for Gloin, too. Author Reply: I don't envy poor Gloin at all, trying to explain exactly where Gimli went, and why, and with who... Thanks for taking the time to read and comment!

Wonderful! I think this is exactly how a mother would think. I feel so much for her! Author Reply: Thank you for the kind words. Mothers are the same all over the world, aren't they?

These are great! I like them all - and can even see myself in the first one. It doesn't matter if your children are all grown up - you still fuss over them. Gimli offering to share his socks with Boromir was touching - whatever nurse/nanny/maid looked after Boromir and Faramir after their mother's death could never replace Finduilas. I wonder what Gimli's mother will say when he turns up safe and well after the quest with an elf in tow - and the Elvenking's son, no less!! Jay Author Reply: It doesn't matter if your children are all grown up - you still fuss over them. Yes, indeed! This very conversation took place in my house, MANY times. whatever nurse/nanny/maid looked after Boromir and Faramir after their mother's death could never replace Finduilas. Are you familiar with Edoraslass's "Under My Wing" series, posted here? She writes Boromir and Faramir's Nanny, from the time Boromir was a newborn, until - well, for a very long time. Check them out - I think you'd enjoy them very much. And thanks so much for your thoughtful comments here.

All three of these are wonderful. It's so nice (and very unique!) to see the perspective of Gimli's mother. I enjoyed these very much. Author Reply: Thank you! She's not all that different from any other mother *g*. It's amusing to think of gruff Gimli as someone's darling little boy, though!

Oops--Mom just realized her son is NOT necessarily in a safe situation, and all are likely to pay. Not a good position for a Dwarf father to be in, admitting he agreed to such a disposition for his son. As usual, Ann, a series of wonderful tales. Thanks so much! Author Reply: Oh dear, it certainly didn't take Nandi long to put two and two together, and come up with "trouble". Thank you for your generous comments! I really enjoyed spending time with Gimli and his loving family.

Yup, I think Gloin will be sleeping in the forge. Those other dwarves are quietly edging away to make their escape before all hell breaks loose. Wait til she hears the nature of the quest and the small size of the party. Another fine drabble! Thanks for sharing it. Author Reply: Poor, poor Gloin! He has a lot of tough explaining to do. I'm glad you enjoyed these - I had much fun writing them. I haven't completely resolved my writer's block issues, but I'm feeling a bit more hopeful that I haven't lost all my words.

Mothers would never see quests the same way a father would! LOL, very well done. Author Reply: LOL! Fathers think: "Honor!Glory!" Mothers think: "Trouble!Danger!" Thanks for reading and commenting!

Gimli had a mother, of course he had a mother, and I love her. She made sure he had extra socks and a snack. Of course the moment her back is turned he goes off on some kind of quest, with a elf too. Author Reply: That's what she gets for letting Dad watch him - off he goes! Thanks for reading and commenting!

Ahh! I'll bet Gloin thought twice about going home with news of that particular honour on his lips! I love the idea of Gimli with a protective mother, providing him with extra socks and salt pork. (And Gimli's awareness of his own good fortune, when faced with Boromir's long past loss of his own mother.) Author Reply: They're such a nice pair, Gimli and Boromir; really quite similar in terms of gruff exteriors concealing hearts of pure gold, aren't they? Thanks for heartwarming comments!
