For the Dwarves, Gimli  by annmarwalk 16 Review(s)

Nice to see Gimli getting his fair share of the spotlight. Yes, even tough Dwarven warriors have mothers to worry about them. And just think, he'll journey places no Dwarf has seen in centuries, come through the War with hardly a scratch, best an Elf at Helm's Deep, and forge the greatest friendship between Elf and Dwarf since the time of Narvi and Celebrimbor. Well done for mama's baby boy. Personally I'd credit the socks.

Author Reply: Personally I'd credit the socks.

Well, they do say, "If your feet aren't happy, the rest of you can't be happy", so maybe the socks did have a lot to do with those worldshaking events! Thanks for reading and commenting!

Nicely done! Great interactions between the characters, brief though it is. What a nice gesture on Gimli's part, for Boromir. And I can just see the fierceness of the dwarven mother in those closing lines. Certainly not one to mess with! Just as I would imagine them.

Well done!

Author Reply: Thank you! These drabbles were written purely on a whim; I'm quite pleased to see how well they have resonated with readers. Thank you for taking the time to comment.

It's so lovely to see good Gimli stories! I don't usually read drabbles, but I am so glad that I read these. I have a particular soft spot for the dwarf. More, please?

Author Reply: Thanks! I don't write Gimli often, but when I do I enjoy interacting with him very much, quite different from the Men of Gondor and Rohan that I usually write.

There may be one more drabble coming along to go with this. I also have another story in which Gimli is a major protagonist: Too Few Words. Thank your for taking the time to read and comment!

I am really glad Gimli survives the quest, because I would not want to be the one to bring this woman bad news.

Author Reply: "And though she be but little, she is fierce." Poor Gloin had a LOT of explaining to do!

Thanks for reading and commenting - I'm quite pleased and surprised to see such an enthusiatic response to three little drabbles.

I love this series. Could you possibly write one more, when Gimli returns home a hero (yet still his mother's son)?

Author Reply: Thank you for the kind words! I was suffering a bit of writer's block and put out a call for drabble requests; these three were among the results. I've already received requests for at least one more, so it's very likely that we'll see Gimli's reunion with his mom.

Hehehehe.....what a clever idea...Gimli and his momma! Cute!!! and of course she'd make sure he had warm socks and clean underwear...and a toothbrush.....

Author Reply: Yes, it's probably a good thing she wasn't in charge of his packing for the trip. Thanks for reading and commenting!
