I went back and re-read all the neat stuff you placed at the beginning of every chapter and found them so very nice. Thanks for replying to all my reviews.

Author Reply: I really enjoyed making up the quotations, even though some of them took considerable time and research (e.g. the poem).

And thanks to you for reviewing!

Having stumbled across, and being captivated by one of Lady Bluejay's Eomer and Lothiriel stories (thence to the rest), this week, I have been looking for more, and found this one. Again, I am captivated.
Thank you for this very different (although perhaps I have read too small a sample to be qualified to comment?) look at this marriage/romance/alliance/thing.
Looking forward to more (sorry, I am rotten at fb).
Cheers!

Author Reply: That's funny because Lady Bluejay is of course my beta-reader. She's got about six different scenarios of how they met, I'm onto my third here! The beautiful thing is that Tolkien only mentioned Lothiriel in a single sentence, so you're free to imagine her in whatever way you like. It gives the imagination much more scope than the other canonical couples like Arwen and Aragorn.

Cheers!

Butterfly! I can think of various other comparisons for that lying Wilwarin - who is not even ashamed to admit her perfidy to her equally nasty mother and sister.

Poor Lothiriel - even her father is determined to tell her of the impossibility of any interest from Eomer and try to shield her. Incidentally reinforcing every word the vicious woman later uttered!

I'm looking for Cupid to be the one to untangle this! Although I rather hope that he kidnaps Wilwarin along the way, if only to torture her.

Author Reply: Yes, poor Lothiriel. Still everybody underestimates her! She will eventually get the opportunity to show her mettle, but it will be a while. First she's in for a bit more misery, I'm afraid.

Cupid kidnapping Wilwarin - it's a thought. Maybe they could finish each other off, and Eomer and Lothiriel can enjoy their happy ending. But that would be way too easy of course ;-)

I never liked "Lady" Wilwarin, but now I'm positively hostile towards her. Poor Lothiriel. Between her overbearing father and the nasty Lady Wilwarin, she has a hard time. I hope she figures out for herself what a nasty women Wilwarin is and trusts her instincts when it comes to Eomer. That would be a boost to her self esteem, which I think is a bit crushed at the moment. Unfortunately, that will take time and Eomer will be in for a confusing experience at Lord Girion's party.

Author Reply: I agree Lothiriel is having a hard time. Unfortunately things won't look up for her for a while yet. I hope to make it up to her eventually, though!

Eomer...yes, 'confusing' might be a good word to describe what he's in for. I'm starting to feel guilty just thinking about it.

More next weekend!

Nooooo!!!!

Poor Lothiriel. And she is, as the story says, so inexperienced, and Wilwarin knows just how to push her buttons. I felt some sympathy for Wilwarin when she first came into the story, but bit by bit she has shed her pretty crysalis and now is thoroughly revealed not as a butterfly at all!

I liked the father-daughter interaction--Lothiriel showing some new maturity, Imrahil full only of concern and love but not quite knowing how to handle the situation.

Author Reply: Yes, it's not easy for Imrahil. His little girl is growing up and he finds it difficult to cope with. Being a parent myself I feel sorry for him - and things will (of course) get worse.

It's true Wilwarin has come out on top for the moment, but things won't always go quite according to plan for her. Fortunately!

Oh the plot thickens. I have to agree it's awfully risky of Wilwarin to tell Lothiriel that. She runs the risk of Lothiriel confronting Eomer, which would probably force a conversation between them on the subject. What a nasty, scheming girl she is, but it's nice considering how it's probably going to backfire on her.

Poor Lothiriel has been hit from all sides in this chapter. Hopefully she'll trust her instincts and realize that Eomer certainly doesn't see her as a sister!

Author Reply: Yes, I agree it's risky for Wilwarin. But she saw her aspirations of becoming Queen of Rohan doomed and decided to take steps. Also she probably underestimates both Eomer and Lothiriel and also what they have between them.

Lothiriel. Hmm, I think she knows Eomer doesn't see her as a sister, but that doesn't necessarily make things any better. He, he!

Oooooh, that little b****! How dare she! I hope when Eowyn finds out Wilwaren's interference in all her hard won plans for Eomer's happiness, that Eowyn cuts her to pieces and feeds her to the dogs! :)

And I'm already groaning envisioning Eomer's confusion when he comes for Lothliriel and her sudden coolness toward him. How can all of this be worked out for the best?

Don't leave me hanging for long, please!

Author Reply: That's a thought. While I don't think Eomer would become physical, Eowyn might not have the same scruples. I'll keep it in mind in case the dogs are hungry ;-)

And yes, Eomer might just be a tiny little bit confused at Lothiriel's reaction. It will take a while for this complication to get sorted out.

More next week, I promise!

Argh! That nasty Wilwarin! I fear that Lothiriel will suffer even more heartache before things are finally settled.

Author Reply: Yes, I fear so to. On the other hand, it might both of them realize just what they have in each other.

*squeaks in embarrassment* I meant Annarima, sorry!

This is heartbreaking, even though I know it ends well. Update soon - I don't care so much about Wilwarin getting her comeuppance (though did I detect that Annamaria has perhaps a part to play?) but I don't like seeing Lothiriel so unhappy, which will doubtless make Eomer unhappy . . .

Author Reply: Yes, you're right that Annarima might have a role to play yet. Perhaps her sister doesn't know her quite as well as she thinks. More about Eomer's feelings is coming up in the next chapter.
