Lothíriel enjoyed the sensation of firm muscles under her hands, pent-up power temporarily quiescent, but ready to burst forth at any moment. Whispering endearments, she ran exploratory fingers along the strong back. She wanted to know every inch of the great body next to her. Velvety soft, yet permeated with solid strength, it radiated heat. At the very first touch, two days ago, a piece of her heart had been taken, exchanged for a promise of freedom and laughter.

She stroked the wide, powerful chest. Warm breath caressed her cheek and she reached up to bury her fingers in the long hair.

“You’re so beautiful,” she sighed.

Hrm. If that had been written by me... *laughs* Okay, it was the horse. And now give me a knife to cut the throat of that woman, will you...? Poor Lothiriel - but I could kill Imrahil, too. *fumes* I can only hope Éomer will find out about this in time and put things right!

Author Reply: Did I fool you? Knowing me, you can probably imagine how I enjoyed writing that. A shame I'd made Winterbreath a mare, otherwise I would have had even more opportunity for innuendo.

Eomer will find out eventually, of course, but not before putting his foot in. I know, I'm so evil!

That sneaky, horrid woman! That insignificant worm of a woman! I suspect she's not a butterfly so much as a dragonfly, myself, going after what she sees as mosquitoes! It will be satisfying when she gets what she deserves, and she sees Lothiriel indeed becoming the Queen of Rohan.

Now, to see how Eomer manages to dismiss Lothiriel's concerns.

And loved the beginning of the chapter, of course. Heh!

Author Reply: Well, I've been told that some butterflies are considerable pests, eating crops etc. Maybe she's one of that sort! And you'll see how Eomer copes with Lothiriel's concerns in the next few chapters, for while the end is certain, the way there is anything but...

I can think of few women more badly suited to Eomer King than Wilwarin. There's a match made in hell for both of them. Fortunately, she's deluded.

Author Reply: Deluded but dangerous! We'll see in the next chapters how well her scheme succeeds.

Wilwarin---my new least favourite character in this story. What a conniving, cold witch! I want to get hold of her and give her a good smack but I will leave that to Eomer when he finds out just what she has done.Eomer, of course, is too much of a gentleman to ever hit a woman, even one so nasty as Wilwarin, so I think the best revenge for both of them is to become man and wife :D

Poor Lothiriel, she's trying not to be broken-hearted but she can't help it.I love this portrayal of Lothiriel: she is strong, but vulnerable, because of her lack of sight but she is not one to sit back and be mollicoddled. She has an independant spirit, which I like.Eomer likes it,too!

I was very angry with her father, telling Lothiriel that she could not be Queen of Rohan because of her blindness. He was only trying to protect her but it was a terrible blow to her confidence.Imrahil probably doesn't want to lose his only daughter but becoming Queen of Rohan could be the best thing to ever happen to her.

So, there is plenty of intrigue and heartache to come and this story is very compelling.I can't wait for the nect chapter.Could Lothiriel be in danger soon?

Oh, and I enjoyed your opening paragraph VERY much, you wicked lady! More please, and with Eomer in place of the horse ;D

Update soon!

Ali.

Author Reply: Yes, I can't see Eomer doing bodily harm to a woman, although he might enjoy the thought. However, I think you're right. Seeing Lothiriel happily married is probably the worst thing that could happen to Wilwarin.

Imrahil - I think for any parent it's always a difficult decision to know how much to protect your children and when to trust in their abilities. And in his eyes, Lothiriel is still very much a child, he can only see her vulnerabilities, not her strengths. Eomer, of course, might have rather a different view of her...

And yes, there are still plenty of twists left to this story - pleased to hear you're enjoying it! But you'll have to wait a long while until Eomer takes Winterbreath's place ;-)
