Pearl, Just wanted to let you know I am following and loving this story, both for your characters and for the plot. (Now, if I could have dug into all that research material with them, I'd be in 7th heaven. ;) ) Excellent point about doing things for themselves, like parents have to, and I like the way you made it, too. Also couldn't help seeing Mickey Mouse in the Sorcerer's Apprentice as brooms flew through the air... Author Reply: LOL! Except those brooms weren't "Pippin propelled". LOL So nice to know that you've been along for the ride, Topaz :-) Thank you so much!

So now more folks in the Shire can say that they met the ghosts of Merry and Pippin! I loved this chapter. Pippin doing the cleaning had me giggling. I could see him forgetting to open the door and dropping those slip covers. Pippin's helpful predictions do seem to be a two-edged sword though. When he comes out with them you don't know whether to laugh or cry. Author Reply: Hi GW! Yes, Pippin's utterings are rather mysterious, especially for Pippin ;-) I'm glad you enjoyed his small troubles with the furniture covers! Thank you so much!

The humorous touch, of course. (Remind me next time not to write reviews before I had my first cup of strong coffee...) *grins* Cúthalion Author Reply: "Ahem! Cuthalion, remember: No reviewing without your first cup of coffee." :-)

This chapter is simply too darling. Aside from the enormous relief those brave parents must feel when they get the "final proof" that Jebbin and Other are not crazy at all, I simply love the humorous you gave the whole thing, and I would have died to see how Pippin whirls through the smial like an invisible cleaning lady. That incident with the covers made me laugh out loud. Thank you! Cúthalion Author Reply: I'm so glad you enjoyed the humor! I is a relief indeed to know where the whole idea started and that the lads are involved in something important. Thank you, for enjoying my story and for leaving responses, Cuthalion :-)

So, Other and Jebbin's bells were used here, too. Nice that Merry and Pippin are warning folk of their coming, even if those folk haven't heard from Other and Jebbins how the two ghosts announce themselves. And the realization these must do things themselves is just right. What victory for Hobbits would there have been had Gandalf accompanied them and faced down Saruman at the last? It was better he realize that Frodo had learned the lessons taught by confrontation with the Ring better than he had, after all--it made him realize he had indeed doomed himself. He wasn't facing his former brother and replacement as Head of the Istari and the White Council--he was facing a Hobbit who'd made it to the Chamber of Fire fueled by stubbornness and love alone. Made Saruman's end the worse in the end, I think. Author Reply: Ghostly Merry and Pippin seem to like the wee bells, so they haven't taken them off :-) We learn best what we do for ourselves, and even better, unfortunately, if it's difficult. You're right, Saruman had no idea who/what he was dealing with, no more than his lackeys did with Merry and Pippin at the gates or when one of them called Frodo a "cock-a-whoop". Thank you so much,Larner, for your thoughtful comments! :-)

Dear Pearl There's one question left that came into my mind. Are there still Bagginses in the Shire? If so, I would really like to know what they think of Jebbin's book! Thank you! Author Reply: In looking at the Baggins family tree, I only saw one Baggins that could have passed on the name - that is if Porto was a male - and he isn't shown as getting married. Mind you, Tolkien says that the family trees are incomplete. At this point, no Baggins' have presented themselves via my muse. A time is coming when one might have a word about things without greatly burdening the story line or distracting from the focus of the story, if there are any Baggins' left. But my muse is wanting to keep this story pretty much focused on Jebbin and Other and those closest to them. Good question :-)

They really aren’t alone. Even when they will be taken from each other, they won’t be alone. [...] “He says such things now,” Merry said to the two anxious living hobbits. “They are comforting when you think them through." LOL! Well, well, I hope Merry is right. Jebbin and Other will be seperated? That doesn't sound good. Pippin's words are as cryptical as Gandalf's used to be ;-) But I'm glad that Marrin and Clary now met the ghosts of Merry and Pippin themselves. I'm looking forward to reading more! Author Reply: Hehehe yes, Pippin can be cryptic now :-) The Ghosts felt it was time to spread their 'haunting'. Thank you so much for reading and responding, Andrea!

Friends are stronger than magic. Love is stronger than magic. It wasn’t magic that destroyed the Ring. Oh Pearl, how lovely. Author Reply: Thank you so much, shirebound :-) I'm glad that touched you!

It was a bit jarring to Clary who occational saw a bucket and mop, a dust cloth or a broom go floating by as Pippin didn’t bother to stay visible as he worked. ROTFL!!! Oh, my gosh, that imagery had me laughing! Marrin and Clary's tenderness at the supper table was lovely. Then when Pippin said, "Even when they will be taken from each other..." That made me a bit nervous, but I'm really looking forward to more! PF Author Reply: I'm glad I could bring you a laugh, m'dear Pippinfan :-) They will need their love and tenderness as things will get rough ahead. Thank you for looking forward to more :-)
