And so the Hunt has begun properly. It's time Glorfi's kidnappers answered for their crimes! And I know those who kidnapped Sador will get theirs, too. *hugs Glorfi and Sador* The kidnappers shouldn't have done what they did, breaking the Sere Valaron. ~Kaylee! Author Reply: The elves of Aman are going to discover that the old ways of doing things will no longer work and several attitudes will have to be readjusted. BTW, you missed commenting on the previous chapter. *grin*

Excellent decisions all the way around. Author Reply: Yes. The Hunt is up and events are coming to a head.

While the POV of this chapter seemed to start out as Sador's, I realized after a bit that the person who tied the segments together this time was Arafinwe. I really liked learning so much more of the Noldoran. :) I particularly liked how he refused to allow the innkeeper to dislodge the guests already in residence at the Laughing Vala--very classy! Sador's reaction to Lord Namo's mansion was intriguing... particularly the bit about longing. I got to thinking back and Sador really hasn't had a lot of post-Mandos/Lorien interaction with Lord Namo other than the episode when Haldir was in the tree on Tol Eressea in comparison to Finrod and Glorfindel. Although I'm certain that could change in time... His greeting to Finrod was great, especially when he made the joke about starting a new fashion statement about the single warrior braid. And I liked how Ingwion took Sador as an otorno as well... :) Sador's blood family might be scarce, but his family of friendship continues to grow apace. The bit about Namo giving Sador that look that made the ellon nervous intrigued me too. Too bad he didn't let us know what was in his mind as he looked at Sador... I'm really curious! We learn more about Orome here, and, like the other Valar you have introduced us to, he's a unique and interesting personality. I look forward to seeing more of him! One line that caught my attention was (in reference to Alassiel):"She is a fierce warrior-maid," Oromë said with a small smile, "but now is not the time for her. That time will come soon enough..." This was really intriguing to me and I almost missed it. Foreshadowing of something... Hmmm. I've used the word "intriguing" several times today... I guess I'd better dig out my thesaurus if I'm not going to keep repeating myself! :) I really enjoyed this chapter, the action is beginning and we're off to resolve at least some of the problems of Aman... but I'm sure there's still lots of challenges for our heroes as they continue on in their Reborn lives. Author Reply: Arafinwë becomes the focus of a number of chapters as we learn something about his own life while his children were all in Endórë and the effects of family history on him. Sador, of course, is just being the typical teenage brat with his older brother. Námo's reaction to Sador is partially explained later though via Oromë rather than Námo and you have to pay attention or you will miss it, but obviously, Námo is evaluating the ellon in light of his recent experiences. While Sador is no longer under Námo's care, the Vala does have a proprietary air when it comes to the Reborn. I'm sure Námo was taking Sador's measure as that moment. Sador not having as much interaction with Námo prior to this is due primarily to the fact that he hasn't "tripped any alarms" so to speak the way Finrod and Glorfindel have done, forcing Námo to act. His relative youth and lack of emotional baggage helps. That doesn't mean he won't have additional interactions with Námo but I think they will be more on the order of the "bedroom scene" on Tol Eressëa rather than the sort of encounters Finrod and Glorfindel have had to date. We will see to what extent Alassiel becomes a "warrior-maïd" although the road to that will be somewhat rocky. Alassiel has a few faults that need to be addressed first.

Good thinking, Ingwion! There are some very grim and fierce elves gathering here - and with every intention of writing wrongs and setting things straight. moving like a swift mist under starlight. That must have been some sight, for those there to see! Author Reply: Let's see... Finrod and Laurendil fought in the Dagor Bragollach, Sador saw the fall of Doriath and died at the Ethir Sirion. Arafinwë led the Amaneldi in the War of Wrath and Ingwion... yes, definitely a grim and fierce gathering of elves. They must indeed have been something to see, for those there to see them.

Quite unusual to see warriors, armed and armored, in the Blessed Realm. I’m sure the elves at the Laughing Vala must be rather surprised and confused. But it underlines how serious the King takes the matter. As much as I enjoyed to see what happened to Ingwion, Sador and Finrod while separated, now I am glad to have them all together and on the way. It means the bad guys are in for a rude awakening. And I see they are drawing the right conclusions. Very intelligent of Sador to ask who benefits from Glorfindel’s disappearance and of Ingwion to think of Ingoldo at once. Very well done! And if they find Vorondil with Glorfindel’s ring and the other guy with the injury caused in his fight with Glorfindel ... *rubs hands in hopeful anticipation* Hmmm ... Arafinwë threw a dagger at Manwë’s feet, too? You know that’s another plot bunny?? Now I’m curious about the reason ... And of course, there’s the reason why Ingoldo fears Ingwion, but not Arafinwë. If that is not explained in future chapters, it calls for a story, too. Maybe one day? Author Reply: Arafinwë doesn't say he threw a dagger at Manwë's feet, only that he was upset enough to do something equally as foolish as Ingwion did and that the end result was that he was sent away for two months to contemplate his actions. As to what that was, I do not as yet know, for neither Arafinwë nor the Elder King are saying anything to me about it. As for why Ingoldo fears Ingwion, but not Ingwë or Arafinwë, I have an inkling as to what that reason might be, but the exact details have yet to be revealed to me. Maybe someday I will be privy to them and will be able to write about them. Yet another chapter in the History of Aman begging to be written.

What a shock to find these chapters posted so early! But a happy shock. Wondering what weaponry they have to go with the armor. Lots of weapons left over from the War of Wrath -- and inasmuch as Arafinwë is taking this so seriously, I suppose they did bring some. “Grave consequences for all involved, Hunter and Hunted alike” -- hm. Good for Elessairon, suggesting Finrod. And I’m glad he’s not involved in the Hunt, having considered various scenarios.... Also glad he and the others are safe in Valmar, so nobody’s gonna kidnap *them*. Wondering about the circumstances of Arafinwë’s long-ago upset with Manwë. “’The Valar are not forthcoming with clues’” -- well, at least they’ve decided to inform Ingwion et al that Glorfindel is safe. So the Bad Guys will still be at the hunting lodge when the Hunt catches up with them: good! I was fond of that idea. I’d expected Tulkas to be part of the Hunt as well, but hadn't expected Arafinwë. Author Reply: Weaponry: most likely swords. Arafinwë's long-ago upset with Manwë: neither one is talking to me about that. *grin* Unfortunately, my characters don't tell me everything. *sigh* Elessairon is still a minor. The Hunt is not for children. Alassiel is not a minor, but the Hunt isn't pretty and Oromë rarely allows women to join in, mainly because women tend to be ugly fighters, more so than men. Tulkas: Oromë rarely allows the other Valar to join in a Hunt, which is why even Námo leaves before it officially begins.

At last, the hunt:) I like Ararfinwë, I'm glad he's on the hunt too Author Reply: I'm glad he's on the Hunt as well. I think some of us (including myself until I started writing this story) tend to forget that he led the elves in the War of Wrath, fighting against Morgoth's army for twenty-five years. He is not someone to trifle with on any level.
