I know these flashbacks are necessasary for Glorfindel to reintigrate him self but I wish they were not so disrupting. Poor ellon he really does have a hard time of it, I hope Aman will still be standing by the time he is ready to go back to Endorie and guard Erendil's heirs! More please, Lynda Author Reply: Such flashbacks are distruptive unfortunately, yet a necessary part of the process of reintegration. I'm sure many of the Valar and Maiar are hoping the same thing and probably laying bets as to how much of Aman survives Glorfindel's presence. grin

Glorfindel is certainly having a difficult time. He seems to have a lot of demons to exorcize. I do hope he will be able to teach the proper use of the sword. Who better could they learn from? I must say, though, the elves seem to do an awful lot of blusing. I used to have that problem until I learned to control it. Sometimes it still rears it's ugly head. The Maia calling him "sword-brother" is a nice touch. Tari Author Reply: Yes, Glorfindel has many demons to exorcize. He will be an excellent teacher of the sword which will help him when he is Captain of the Guard at Imladris and has to teach the sons of Elrond how to properly wield one. As for the blushing... well, Glorfindel is still emotionally young so he's allowed. grin In spite of that, the Maiar take him seriously and respect his talents as a warrior, hence they have no problems referring to him as "sword-brother".

His memories returning, he seeks to reconnect that basic relationship, and to see the meaning in who and what he is. And he obviously has foreseen turning to fight pursuing wargs with one of the princes of Arnor and one of the sons of Elrond. Aragorn, I wonder? (haven't read that one, either. Will one day, I'm certain. But to finish this one first.) Author Reply: It's actually is a foreseeing of an event concerning Aragorn and Elrond which you can read about in Tad Edhel a Firion when you get the chance. grin

The 'one person at a time' advice was superb! (Although at that pace, it might take a while. Although it would be a geometric progression, I suppose.) But Glorfindel's still a bit of an emotional wreck at times - as if all those adolescent hormone surges are going through him at once. And he's dealing with post-traumatic stress at the same time. Author Reply: You start with one person and that person goes to another person and that person... eventually you get to everyone. Glorfindel isn't totally in control of his emotions yet. It's possible that Námo had the right of it and that he wasn't ready to face judgment as soon as he did. That may have contributed to his erratic behavior. Neither Finrod nor Sador seem to be as affected as Glorfindel is.

The beginning of Glorfindel’s and Aldarion’s first lesson together was so much fun! Odd way to damp someones excitement. And smiling upside down snicker For most Amaneldi these little glimpses of Glorfindel’s former life and the fall of Gondolin have to be rather disturbing, I suppose. But maybe it helps them in the end truly to understand better that the rebels weren’t punished only by exile, but by centuries of fighting against Morgoth and his creatures, which in itself is worse than any punishment in Aman I could imagine. Hmmm ... this tournament could easily become another occasion for the elves from Endorë to prove to the Amaneldi snobs that they’re not better in everything, as I suppose there are many experienced warriors like Laurendil who could easily best most Amaneldi. Maybe it earns them a bit of respect. If that is one of the reasons why Ingwë did it, it is a great idea, and I hope the Tol Eressëans do take the opportunity. It was rather unexpected that Glorfindel felt the need to renew his oath. Was it to be sure it is still binding, even if he should know not even his death has changed anything? Well, maybe it was a consolation to know Eönwë himself recorded it and that his former oaths are recorded, too. Now I look forward to the tournament! Author Reply: I am sure that the Tol Eressëans will welcome the idea of a New Years tournament with glee and are already preparing for it. I'm equally sure that Ingwë has more than one agenda going with regards to the tournament. He is one very complex elf, as I'm beginning to find out and as I hope the readers are beginning to find out as well. Glorfindel is very conflicted in his relatonship with Turgon, thus the need he feels to renew the oath. Eönwë's presence I think helped him to come to terms with all that to a greater degree than he had been feeling before.

A Book of Oaths! What a neat idea. And drives home that Manwë really does hear all things. Eonwë's given Glorfindel plenty to think about. That poor elf will need to find maturity somewhere - taking off like that sure stirred things up behind him. Author Reply: I sort of stole the idea of a Book of Oaths from Judeo-Christian mythology of the Recording Angel and gave it a Middle-earth twist. Glorfindel's little stunt is going to have severe ramifications for many as will be seen in upcoming chapters.

Brilliant! I love the way you show more and more detail of rebirth and the struggle of the Reborn to "win over" the Once-born. :-) And the depictions of all the Maiar and Valar... I love seeing the "story update" emails twice a week to find out what's going to happen next! Thank you so much for the hard work you put into this!! Author Reply: Glad you are enjoying the story. I'm gratified that you appreciate my efforts to tell a good story. I may not be updating as often as before, but I will be updating at least once a week.
