All I can say about Miriel is, “what a woman”. She is a real spitfire and is not afraid to speak her mind, even to the High King. I love it. I should have known Glorifindel would figure out what was going on even if I didn’t. Reading is such fun. (This is what I do when I have free time at work. I have a really wonderful boss.) I think Ingwë should take his own advice and put her on his privy counsel. grin I'm glad you have such a wonderful boss who lets you read these stories while at work and I'm glad you are finding reading this story so much fun. slaps head Oh, right, Aranwë. I have him mixed up with Amandil father of Elendil. Sorry about that... Shouldn't try to be brilliant on just a little sleep ;). True, it was still an accident, but it's manslaughter (elf-slaughter?), not accidental death. Or something like that. I really don't know the legal terms, just that there are about 9 shades of meaning to "I killed someone"... Off to get some sleep Author Reply: It would be considered "self-defense" and therefore nonculpable. Manslaughter (or elf-slaughter) says: you created a situation where death might be an end result, but you did not intentionally set out to create such a situation in which a person died. However, you still have to be held accountable for your actions which led to the unintended death. Sorry, Law school graduate... had to get it out. grin It's easy to get the names mixed up, so don't worry about it. I had to look it up myself just to be sure.

Well, Glorfindel certainly handled himself better this time, though I was a bit shocked that someone...died. Here! In the Blessed Realm... That's only supposed to happen by accident. But now at least we know why Finrod didn't react! Ohhh, I know what happened to Amandil! He joined Turgon's group, and became the father of Voronwë (Tuor's guide and close friend). Does Glorfindel remember him? Author Reply: Well, Glorfindel probably never intended for the attacker to die (he says as much), so I suppose one could label the death "accidental". "But now at least we know why Finrod didn't react!" And not only Finrod, but Arafinwë. Hmmm... good guess about Amandil, except Voronwë's father's name was Aranwë and he was a Noldo lord attached to Fingolfin's troupe. OTOH, Voronwë did have those companions who didn't return from their attempt to reach Valinor, and maybe he was one of them. Glorfindel might have known Amandil anyway, though, Gondolin was a large city and he couldn't have been expected to know everyone who lived there.

LOL!!! Every time I see that phrase I'm going to think of Celeborn correcting Arwen's pronunciation... Ingwë has some serious bite marks on his backside courtesy of Lady Miriel chortles I'm surprised she didn't SMACK him with that spoon! I'm glad there's a solution everyone can live with. Most excellent! BC Author Reply: I'm surprise she didn't shove the spoon down his throat! lol But that might have been rather hard to explain to the "authorities"... wait! Ingwë IS the Authorities.... well, anyway, Míriel at least had her say as she's been threatening to do. Ingwë should take his own advice and put her on his privy counsel. He could do a lot worse.

I loved Míriel in this chapter so much, cursing and giving the High King a piece of her mind. That was truly fun!!! It was great that she didn’t care for his rank, but told him what had to be told. And even throwing the ladle at him snicker And she was right – Ingwë owed them not only an explanation, but an apology as well, particularly Glorfindel. Well, at least Ingwë took it rather well and didn’t hold her words against her; that shows that he is a good leader, in my opinion. And I am glad they decided to make the thrall an apprentice instead. Much better. And now please excuse me – I have to go and get my ticket to Valinor and the best seat available for the tournament ;-) Author Reply: I had lots of fun letting Míriel go after Ingwë and telling him exactly what she thought of him. I bet Ingwë had never heard such language from anyone, especially directed at him. And you're excused, but good luck.... tickets to this tournament are harder to obtain than those for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.
