Oh, my ribs hurt, I laughed so hard at this fic, meldonya! The utter snarkiness of the Men's comments about the Firstborn and Elros' affection for them was all too funny (I think a couple of the folks who ride the same bus as I do in the morning must be descended from these two!). I love your long fics immensely but your talent (and humor) really shines in these shorter pieces. Keep it up! hugs, Edlyn Author Reply: I'm glad you enjoyed this, Edlyn, and that you are enjoying these shorter stories as a whole. When I wrote this piece I was thinking of all the so-called prophecies that have been written in our world and the fact that there's evidence that even some of the wording in the Bible may have been tampered with by translators and such down the ages, so it just makes sense that such things might have happened in Middle-earth. Anyway, regardless, the good news (or maybe not!) is that Atar does have the last laugh and the final say in all this. Thanks for reviewing.

I think that it is just as well I don't listen to prophecies. I am glad that the future is an unknown Country. But I really enjoyed this. Author Reply: Always best to ignor prophecies... they just get in the way of living, IMO. *grin* Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed this. Thanks for letting me know.

Ah, Atto always knows best! We Second Born are a sneaky bunch, aren't we!:<) Nice one, Lynda Author Reply: Yes, Atto always knows best. And we Secondborn are no more sneaky than the Firstborn, just in a different way. *grin*

Interesting, very interesting. And quite amusing too. *grin* Great ficlet! Keep them coming. Author Reply: Glad you liked it NiRi. I'll keep them coming as long as you keep giving the prompts. *looks for number 12*

I swear, I've got to stop reading your stuff during lunch. No one's going to believe I choked to death from laughing. 2 men! it sounds more like Merry & Pippin up there trying to rearrange things. Thanks for the great read Author Reply: Hey Men are just as sneaky as Hobbits. And maybe you should eat your lunch before reading (or after), not during; that might help cut down the possibily of choking to death from laughing. *grin* Glad you liked this. Thanks for reviewing.

I can't help but get a picture in my mind of those two men in one corner writing out their version, Námo in another writing one to circumvent theirs and Atar in a third quietly conceiving his own to outsmart them both. Meanwhile, the fourth corner is just waiting for the dwarves to come along once they hear of this prophecy and come up with their 'correct' version! This was funny from beginning to end and I enjoyed it very much. A needed laugh and perfect timing as I took a break from work! Ces Author Reply: Hi Ces. Yes, the image you describe is almost what I had in my mind when I was writing this, except it wasn't Dwarves but Hobbits in the fourth corner! And I could see Atar helping them write it, too! LOL I'm glad you enjoyed it and it brightened your day. Thanks for letting me know.

Well, I have to agree with these men - Námo was regrettably remiss with this prophecy, leaving the Secondborn out of it! No wonder they decided to change it a bit. When Námo complained to Manwë, I was already grinning, and the end left me laughing aloud. Námo going to make a third one to counter the second, and Atar countering that with a fourth - that was great! And of course, now I'm dying to know what these other prophecies are! Author Reply: You can blame Tolkien for the confusion between the different versions of the Second Prophecy, which makes it rather fun for me as a writer. I have no idea what the other two prophecies are about, but I'm sure that ultmately Atar will have the final say and the last laugh.

Yes, Iluvatar is a step ahead of them all! Heh--messin' with our heads! Author Reply: And a good thing, too, or I suspect we would all be in lot more trouble than we already are or deserve to be. LOL
