Well, it was certainly nice to sit back and read a chapter and just be mellow... glad the elflings are well and seeming to be ready to forge ahead... personally, I'm glad they're not going away!

Author Reply: It is a mellow chapter, isn't it? Glad you enjoyed it. And I'm glad the elflings aren't going away either... though Finrod might have second thoughts after a bit. *grin*

Lindorillë has had a rough time of it. Experience has enable the others to show her the compasson she needs right now. Finrod's solution as to what her job will be is excellent. She should recover completely, but will she become a "puppy dog" as far as Finrod is concerned, wanting to follow him everwhere.

Tari

Author Reply: Yes, she has had a rough time of it, but hopefully things will be better for her now. As to how clingy she will prove to be, we'll have to see.

Cute way of cheering her up!

Author Reply: I'm not sure if 'cute' has anything to do with it, but certainly Finrod is being very careful with her; she's still emotionally fragile and obviously needs to be in his presence to feel secure. We'll see what comes of it.

I don't really understand why Lindorille faded in the first place. She doesn't even know Finrod that well, although I can certainly understand her being upset at what happened at the tournament.

Author Reply: I don't think she was actually fading, I'm not even sure she understood what she was doing, only that she had formed an attachment to Finrod that was deeper than any of them had suspected and when it appeared (to her) that he wasn't coming back she simply gave up. The shock of what happened at the tournament probably contributed to her sense of despair. Depression is a tricky thing and the course of it cannot always be predicted.

This was sweet, but not too sweet! Well, now Finrod can cross the Elflings off his 'To Do List'!
Now to find out why Glorfindel changed his mind about coming to Lorien.
Eonwe, just has too much fun with that book of his!:<)
More please,
Lynda

Author Reply: We'll learn more about why Glorfindel is in Lórien in the next chapter. I'm glad you liked the chapter. I tried not to make it to saccharine.

And she would not willingly be parted from him again, eh? Interesting! Very interesting!

Author Reply: I think Lindorillë is suffering from her first bout of "puppy love". *grin* How it develops from here remains to be seen.

What a lovely thing to wake up to a new chapter of one of my three most favorite fics! (The other two belong to you as well...)

I loved Ingwion delivering "messages" from his parents to Lindorille about her fading, the scolding and the kiss, and then giving his own words and kiss to her.

The whole scene between Finrod, Glorfindel, Ingwe and the young elleth was so very touching, and I liked how I could see the changes in her as well, in her reactions to them.

And, of course, the way Veryandur reminded them that it was time to eat was perfectly apt for a small child. My own youngest child would tell me that his stuffed toy was hungry when, in fact, he was himself but didn't want to sound selfish by demanding I feed him immediately.

What a change in Sorondil and Oromendil that they would be relieved and happy to be staying in Lorien instead of going to Arafinwe in Tirion! Who would have believed it even a few short weeks ago? :)

How tactful of Finrod to refer to Lindorille's fading as an illness. I can just see how glum her expression was when the kitchen was mentioned. I love being in a kitchen when it's my idea, but having to do kitchen duty as a punishment is definitely not a preferred activity.

The unclad Maiar "peanut gallery" was quite amusing as was Eonwe's unclad appearance with the Book of Oaths. I'll not bother asking for details of what Finrod said other than to ask whether it was in Sindarin or Dwarvish. *grin*

It's quite obvious that Lindorille is still very fragile emotionally, but I'm sure that Finrod, Glorfindel and Ingwion are quite aware of that as well, and will give her the opportunity to finish healing, along with gentle affection and love.

The secretarial job is a terrific solution (and, hey! Maybe Finrod will write to Amarie more now that Lindorille will be there to nag him about it.... *snicker*) More seriously, it's a wonderful idea, and I would have liked to have been among the unclad Maiar to have been able to see the smile that was the result for real and not just in my imagination.

I think I'm going to go read your Erestor story again, to see our young elleth all grown up...

As always, well done! :)

Author Reply: Hi Rhyselle. All the elflings have changed in many ways (mostly positive) since we first met them, especially, I think, Sorondil and Oromendil. They've come a long way from the little whining brats we saw in Book One.

I'm not sure what Finrod said myself, but it obviously wasn't what one said in polite company. *grin*

Finrod's solution to Lindorillë I think was the right one and I think it is the beginning of her squirehood though no one is thinking that far in advance at this time. What the others end up doing I have no idea though perhaps someday we will see what they are like when all grown up.

Thanks for reviewing. I've been missing your long reviews. I hope this one is not a fluke. *grin*

So now the elflings are somewhat settled and can move on, These experiences will very much shape the adults they become, they are very much bridges to the future. Always enjoyable when the Maiar show up, especially Eonwë! Maybe Finrod thought he'd slip that one by? Not a chance...*grin*

Author Reply: These elflings are the first step towards bridging the gap between the Amanian elves and everyone else. If Finrod and the others can show these children the correct way to go they will in turn teach their own peers and so on. Or at least that's the theory but one has to start somewhere.

Oh, meldonya! Wonderful, brilliant work as always! Thank you for giving me this little gift to brighten my Saturday...something nice to think about during the dumb mandatory meeting that was scheduled today. It's also my Anatar's birthday, so after the ridiculously early meeting, we're heading out of town for the day. I'm glad I read it now, then...I'd have missed it were I to not be online!

Poor Lindorille, being scolded by Ingwi. But at least she got a kiss from him...I wouldn't mind a kiss from Ingwi, or Finda, myself. *grin* And she got compared to Alassiel!

Alassiel not an elfling, hmmmm? Sure she's not. Right. *laughs*

I'm glad Lindorille's feeling so much better...AND she gets to be Finda's new secretary, yay! And the elflings will all stay with Finda! *more cheering* YAY!!!

~Kaylee!

Author Reply: Thanks, Kaylee. I'm glad you enjoyed this chapter and that you got to read it before real life took over for the day. *grin*

Ingwion was great here – first scolding Lindorillë from Ingwë, then giving her a kiss from Elindis, and then tell her he’s glad she’s still there.

Very sensible decision to keep all the children in Lórien, I think. Particularly for Sorondil and Oromendil it is important to stay here – they’re learning a lot about the Reborn, and something very different from the rubbish their parents told them. This would be a valubale lesson for them. And Glorfindel is right, Finrod has a new admirer. I hope Vorondil isn’t upset when he returns and feels he has been replaced!

Really, I’d love to see Finrod as father, and Glorfindel, Ingwion and Sador as well. They all have such a great way with elflings.

Author Reply: Ingwion surprised me as I didn't expect him to take such an active role with Lindorillë, but he was obviously acting as the Crown Prince of the Vanyar and technically Lindorillë's liege rather than as Námo's apprentice or Finrod's cousin.

I think Finrod realized that as soon as the children were all brought to Lórien the original plans for them had to change especially when it was left to others to decide their fates while he was... er... away. *grin*

As for Vorondil... I think he probably looks upon all the younger elflings as the younger siblings he never had and so will take Lindorillë's infatuation in stride.
