The hey diddle diddle song again! :-) Yes, Gandalf would be very upset if they started treating him formally or some such... I've always loved the sheer mythological feel in some of Tolkien's writing -- the sun and the moon being one of those... Author Reply: That hey diddle diddle song gets around!

I just love this story. My camera bringing the horses close up felt a little like it. Would now love a sequel about Frodo seeing Earendil's ship! Author Reply: Thanks, Linda! I think there's a lot that could be done with this type of experience. :)

I hadn't thought about a parallel with Gallileo! What a joy to give Frodo this 'magical' experience. The amazing Feanor must have been a combination of every wonderful and curious inventor who ever lived. Elves certainly like to be on the cutting edge, don't they? =) Author Reply: They sure do, and it's a pleasure imagining little tales like this.

Delightful! Author Reply: Thank you. I love scenes which bring Frodo and Elrond together.

Oh, this is a really original idea - that the "seeing crystal" would be nothing magical, but based on optical knowledge. Interesting that you let Frodo look at the moon and wonder about the marks on it - did you mean to refer to Galilei here? The last paragraph is delightful. Author Reply: Thank you for reading. *grin* Elven telescopes! *wants* I caught onto the nice parallels in Elrond's story of Tilion--rather fitting to tell it to Frodo. One other brief nitpick--wasn't Feanor Finwe's son, not grandson? Author Reply: Goodness, thank you for that nitpick! I don't know how I made a mistake like that. I'm glad you enjoyed this. It was a fun scene to imagine and write. :)

Beautifully written, shirebound! And once again I see that there are still many stories in the Silmarillion which I haven't read yet. Thank you :) Author Reply: Thank you, Andrea. There are so many layers and depths to the Professor's grand tale, I doubt we can ever absorb it all!

And so Frodo continues to make his mark on the world and those in and around it. What a joy for him to use that telescope - indeed a rare invention - you know Feanor and Leonardo from our age would have loved to spoken together - both far ahead of their times in inventiveness - and what a joy for Elrond too to use it and the delight that 'the Man in the Moon' has to hear that song. I love it! What wonders Sam will come home to. Namarie, God bless, Antane :) Author Reply: Thank you so much. Yes, I feel that wherever Frodo goes, he would "make his mark" and be someone whose quality would be recognized.

What a lovely look at Frodo in the West. I ove his friendship with Elrond and those words about Gandalf always being Gandalf to his hobbits. How marvellous that they can see the Tilion - and that Elrond can see his father. I'm all warm and happy now! Author Reply: Yay, that makes *me* warm and happy. Thank you. I just can't imagine Frodo in the West unless he's surrounded by friends.

Squee! :) This was just WONDERFUL! :) Two marvelous fics posted today so far that have been just sooooo uplifting to the spirits. Fiondil's and this very lovely and wonderful story. My favorite part was when Frodo handed the viewing crystal to Elrond, so that the Peredhel could see his father Earendil. Perfect! I so love this series, but this episode tops all the others by a mile! Author Reply: Thank you so much! It's always joyous to get a 'squee'! I really appreciate your enthusiasm. :)
