| Atya, Just rereading (for research as well as fun, I was writing a Dwarven story and needed a reminder of what an 'apron' was geologically) and thought I'd review (again, and haven't things changed since the last time I did *lol*. Still have the scars from those staples though, and it's been almost six years o.O...). Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli in this story always make me laugh, and I believe most of your readers would love the idea of a naked Legolas. I don't think Gimli's blankie (ha) would help Legolas much if he was actually naked, though :P Maybe my newest Loot Crate t-shirts? I doubt I could give them to him, so I hope Aragorn would at least lend the poor Elf a tunic! Hehe. "It wasn't anything they hadn't seen before." That bit always gets me. *grins* What are the chances of Arwen or Thranduil ever hearing about this, incidentally? :) And do you suppose Lord Aule was watching? Kaylee Author Reply: Hi Kaylee. | I am spamming up your email with comments today, but I felt this story deserved one. I was cracking up at all of Aragorn's examples. Especially the dagger/necklace sequence. Legolas' comeback of "Gimli's Blankie" was unexpected and amusing. ~Lin Author Reply: Not a problem Lin. As one writer says, 'Reviews are love' well, at least the platonic kind. LOL! I enjoyed exploring the ambiguities that occur in all languages and it was fun to find some in Sindarin. "Gimli's Blankie" just seemed appropriate, given the teasing between the Elf and the Dwarf. | This was very, very funny, meldonya! Especially after spending a good portion of the morning laboring over participles and an adaptation of Vergilius' Eclogue 4. The last line is perfect. | Ai, meldonya! I'm striving to keep my laughter in my mind only, as 1) it's just past 1 AM and my mother would wake if I didn't, and 2) I just returned from the hospital last evening with sixteen staples in my abdomen, and I don't want to aggravate them any more than they are. This was an absolute gem to come home to, and I appreciate it very much! "Gimli's Blankie." Hah! That was too good. And a naked Legolas...who wouldn't want that? *brilliantly wicked smile* Now I need to go read that Naked Yule fic again...but first, back to bed to see if I can sleep. Tye-melin, Kaylee! | Oh, that was just hilarious! These language games can be fun, and when you do play that with three different races, it is bound to be interesting. And you will always find the exception to the rule to irritate the other, as Aragorn is doing *grin* Really, 'apron' is bad enough, but 'Gimli's blankie' is even worse *ROFL* So in the end, Legolas had the last word ;) It was great to see these three having so much fun! | *snorts* I love this. Wordplay is always fun. :D "I know those who were," was his only comment and both Aragorn and Gimli blanched at the implications of those words, giving each other uneasy looks. Eep. Though there is a chance Aragorn knows one or two, depending on the Exiles, etc. But to hear Legolas say that, when he's normally thought of as a lot younger… Though I do have to say that I despair of ever learning enough Sindarin to understand more than words here and there. (I've been neglecting it.) Author Reply: Hi, Indy. Yes, wordplay is always fun (and funny). Legolas is, of course, young by Elvish standards, but yes, it's rather unnerving to think that he personally knows people (Círdan comes readily to mind, for instance) who were there at the very beginning of the Elves' existence. Gives him a truly other-worldly aura. And don't despair about learning Sindarin. It's not an easy language to learn and I don't claim to be an expert in it myself. That's why I put translations at the end of stories and chapters where Elvish is spoken. *grin* | |
