I'm going to sound like a broken record here, but I love your Gimli! I can already see some groundwork developing for their future friendship. Also, that continued need to keep the splinter out of the sunlight... Yikes! Author Reply: Thank you so much. I'm really enjoying exploring this very tentative friendship, and how these two might have interacted with one another in such a situation.

Oooh! I do hope everyone will start digging quickly and get them out of there. Sam may be breathing all right, but I don't like Gimli's other observations. They're not good signs. Glad though that Gimli and Legolas are getting along. They may even find that they have something in common, difficult as that may seem to believe. And of course, extreme worry for Frodo and Elrond, unseen here but not forgotten. Author Reply: Thanks, Gamgeefest. Sometimes it takes extreme situations for common ground to be found. It's fun to work out how this 'might have been'. Frodo and Elrond are definitely not forgotten! :)

It absolutely kills me to think of Frodo having to go through the Morgul poisoning again---the poor thing! But you know, if it means he'll HAVE to put up with Aragorn's tending . . . then I suppose I can live with it . . . ;) Gosh, you have my favorite elements here, all wrapped up with suspense and danger---I'm enjoying it greatly. I'm really getting a kick out of your Gimli and Legolas banter here! This is the beginning of a very unlikely friendship. Author Reply: Thanks, Lily! Yes, I'm afraid you (and Frodo) will have to endure a bit of Aragorn tending. Maybe you can just skim past it quickly, you know? :) LOL, I'm having such a good time encouraging this 'unlikely friendship' to evolve. :)

(“How is your head, lad?” Legolas had to smile. No one had called him that in over a thousand years. ) Love this bit here. I enjoyed all of the scenes with Gimli and Legolas. I like how you show their difference, as with the tree root, and the things they share in common like their bravery in the face of pain and danger. I see I didn't avoid a cliff hanger by reading several chapters at once! Now I have to worry about Sam and Frodo until the next chapter turns up. I hope you're writing non-stop. : ) Author Reply: Oh thank you! It's their differences (and ability to learn to get along and respect one another in spite of them) that I'm trying to highlight, among other things. I'm writing as much as I can, as often as I can. Wish it could be faster! But we'll all get off those cliffs together, and I hope enjoy the adventure. *hugs hugs*

Ooh, you posted while I was away! You're doing such a good job reflecting the tension and anxiety of the crisis.. for all parties. Sam!! Author Reply: Thank you. It isn't easy keeping all this straight! Oh, and it's *definitely* time for dear Sam to wake up, don't you think?

Oh you can't leave it there! No, no, no, next chapter quickly please. I really enjoyed your gentle interaction between Gimli and Legolas, and Legolas walking in memory to evade the pain. Best though was Pippin's method of dismounting the horse. Oh to have a ranger at our disposal for such things! Author Reply: I'll get the next chapter written as quickly as I can! We definitely need to get focussed in on Aragorn, Frodo, and (finally) Sam. I'm so glad you're enjoying this. :)

At last I have the chance to catch up with this gripping story.I've been busy writing prompts for BTMEM.I love the way they all work together anf Merry is full of bright ideas.I love ARagorn's care and compassion and Gimli's too. You've also given me plenty to think about regarding the Elven Rings. Author Reply: Thank you, Linda. Aren't those rings fascinating? Tolkien really didn't tell us much about how they work, or all the subtle ways they could be used, so we get to 'play' to our hearts' content. I also enjoyed basing "Mind to Mind" around them.

Oh please update! I can't wait to see what happens when Aragorn, Gimli, Legolas, and Sam are reunited! I hope Frodo is okay. Author Reply: I'm working on it! Thank you for reading. :)

Oh...This is so not good. Smart of Aragorn to take Frodo to the one place in Rivendell where no sunlight comes in. Also the warmest w/the fire in the fireplace always burning. Pity Glorfindel didn't encounter Aragorn on his return, as w/Elrond concetrating on keeping back the Brunien, I think Aragorn's going to need Glorfindel's help as one of the most powerful Elf Lords still around. It's horrible what happened to them, but the thawing of the relationship between Gimli and Legolas has begun. Good thing Gimli knew what to do in order to tend to his compainions injuries, but Sam not coming around *is* worrying indeed. Hopefully, the rescue won't be long in coming now. Right? Right? Great addtion, but I wish it wasn't another cliffhanger. Especially as I won't be around for a week and a bit. Not good for me to be stewing about this. ;o) :oD Looking forward to the next addition!! Author Reply: Oh Tigger, how inconsiderate of me to add to your stress! :) I'm so glad you're enjoying this, cliffies and all. I'll get these rescues underway as soon as possible, I promise. *type type type*

Gwaaaa! Legolas and Gimli are getting along! I think I'm in love with you! The devil's in the details and you've got him by the tail! Way to go! Another lovely chapter to add to your magnificent collection! *yawn* must sleep now, but can't wait for more! Author Reply: Oh my, thank you! It's fascinating to imagine how this tentative friendship might have begun, and evolved. I hope you had lovely dreams about hobbits and elves and dwarves and rangers.
