Well, I forgot who the Elflings were, but I did remember them vaguely. :) I should not have eaten and drunk while reading the chapter... I nearly spouted out the water in my mouth when I came to the last sentence in the chapter! Awwh. Poor keyboard just missed a bit from being thoroughly wetted... But it was truly hilarious! I am reacquainting myself with your style of writing, and glad that it was just like before... So steady. :) Humor and seriousness mixed in. Quite life-like. I forget what about the three hunters and their wildberry pie, though... Quite unfortunately, I would say. Sounds so interesting... (And to think that they bantered about such petty thing as wildberry pies and who got the most! ROTFL) I am glad Pelendur and Haldir were well into their reconcilliation... It was interesting knowing that they gradually mended their relationship. And you brought it up so naturally. Quite successful with that, I would say. :) And I bet Bronweg (Huh. Another misspelled name in my part, I fear...) and Handir were getting the time of their lives. grin Sitting at either side of Vána! Coupled with how they were now acquainted with all the legends-come-to-life and the kings from mainland... It is just like what Oromë said - And he did it rather cheekily too! (Your Ainur are quite 'humane', so to say, and I love it that way.) Umm. But I suppose the Valar did not join the dinner - cough uninvited - for just the sake of the meal... I am curious to what their intention really was... Hmm. I wonder if next chapter holds the answer to that. - Rey Author Reply: Life is serio-comic at its best and I try to convey that in my writing as well. Even in the midst of the most serious circumstances, people need to break the tension with humor, even if it's what's called 'gallow's humor'. It's a natural phenomenon and I suspect it's true with the Elves as well. And sometimes discussions are simply inane (like arguing about who got the biggest piece of wildberry pie) with no deep meaning attached to them.

Wild berry pie. Now that was to funny. Loved the description of the hunters faces when the Valar showed up. To bad they don't have cameras in Aman.sigh I didn't relies till the other day that Earendil is in Aman. Question. Seeing that Glorfindel tends to be a little obsessive where Earendil(and Turgon) is concerned, why hasn't Glorfindel gone crazy? Or does he not know about Earendil's whereabouts? Thanks for writing such interesting stories Mr.Namo Author Reply: Until recently, Glorfindel was kept from remembering Eärendil or being able to see Eärendil's Star (he still can't see it, in fact). He knows that Eärendil is somewhere in Aman, but does not know where exactly. He's already decided to find him, though he knows he can't just go off looking. Hence, any impatience he might be feeling about it he has put aside for other consideratinos, in particular the present Progress through Tol Eressëa. Glorfindel has matured enough to understand priorities. Eventually, though, he will seek Eärendil out, but what comes of that remains to be seen. Yes, it would have been a neat 'Kodak moment', seeing the faces of the six hunters when the Valar showed up. grin Thanks for reviewing, Mr. Namo. I appreciate it.

Wonderful, as always. I wish I could have some wild berry pie! Author Reply: Thanks Jedi. I'm glad you are still enjoying this story. I wouldn't mind some wild berry pie myself, but have to content myself with Reinhilde's homemade black cherry cake with cherries picked fresh from one of the many cherry trees growing around the farm. Hmmm.... grin

Hi Fiondil, I'm thinking that this confluence of elves is not due as much to coincidence as it is to providence. I suspect the Valar have given at least a few of the involved parties a nudge in the right direction, especially since Oromë and Vána show up to "gate crash" the party. Maybe we'll find out in subsequent chapters whether I'm right or wrong. grin One hopes that since the locals are relatively young they may have some influence on their contemporaries on Tol Eressëa as well as on their elders, as their meeting with the kings and company and the Valar appears so far to have been a pleasant event. I wonder if these young ones might provide a key to the solution because they are not so set in how they might view a possible government/leader for the island. It will be interesting to see how you bring this to fruition. Might I just say-and I think its been said before-that IMHO you do an excellant job of providing information by way of conversations between characters. A lot of information changed hands in this chapter, and it seemed to just flow naturally from the conversation between the characters at hand. And wildberry pie-no fair! I read this chapter before breadfast yesterday morning, and I've been craving pie ever since. I know where to find delicious wild blackberry pie, but it's over a two hour drive...oh well! Thanks Fiondil. I look forward to the next chapter with great anticipation. Joanne Author Reply: Hi, Joanne. Most likely you are correct that this confluence of elves is due more to providence than coincidence. Certainly Oromë and Vána didn't just happen to stop by, though just what their purpose is doing so is somewhat opaque. Hopefully, they will clue me in eventually. grin It is usually the young people who make the changes (think back to the 60s and all the radical movements that changed the way Americans see themselves these days), and most likely they will be the ones who will influence their elders in this regard. Certainly, these six ellyn are open to change. And thank you for your kind words about my ability to provide information by way of conversations and keeping the flow natural. It's not an easy thing to do and I'm always worried about the flow. Many readers prefer action to talking, but sometimes the talking is what moves the story along, as well as provide needed information so the reader can appreciate what happens next. As for wildberry pie... I used to just go to the supermarket and pick up frozen mixed berries and a ready-made pie shell. Saves on gas and I didn't break my back picking the berries. grin Thanks for your review, Joanne. I'm glad you are looking forward to the next chapter. The next several chapters will actually show the different groups of Amanian elves interacting with the family and friends of the six hunters so we will see lots of different interactions, some positive, some negative.

Arafinwë said it all. The past must be put to sleep and all should join together in one group of Elves. While most will agree to this, I know there will be a few trouble makers who refuse. That was a delightful chapter! The appearance of Orome and Vana was incredibly funny ( I truly enjoyed the banter between them and the elves: what a shock that must have been to the young Tol Eresseans that anyone would dare to behave like that toward the Valar snicker What a sight their faces must have been! lol) Somehow I can understand that they didn´t tell their parents about the encounter: having secrets can be fun ;-) Archaeology is a fascinating subject (I actually "planed" my career as a eleven year old, though I can´t remember what actually triggered the wish to become an archaeologist...) I know it will be hard to find a job, but that doesn´t frighten me off! Already looking forward to the next chapter! Greetings, Thalanee Author Reply: Hi, Thalanee. Yes, I'm sure their eyes were bugging right out at the banter between the Valar and the Amanians. So what field of archaeology are you going into? I was always fascinated by the Amerindian cultures, especially of Meso-America. My archaeology professor specialized in the Native American cultures of the Northeast, particularly the Iroquois, who domninated the area where I used to live and where I went to college. How very wise of Vana to bake a pie just for her husband. Love that scene. But shurely Orome and Vana not only dropped by for a dinner. I wonder what they are up to. And just two of the elflings who had contact with maiar before now met the group first. Interesting coincidence. As with the fond remembering of the old kings by the older elves, I think it is the same as with humans talking about "the good old time". And the young ones have naturally no understandig. I do not envy any of those who will try to 'bring together' this disparate group of elves.... Yikes! So many cultures, kings, loyalties.... It seems the melting pot has tipped and overflowed.
