| Amarië's behavior is appalling. I wanted to slap her, especially when she was so rude about the gift. I'm glad Eärwen saw it. Interesting development with the warrior braids. While I see Arafinwë's point, I can see Finrod's too. I think eventually he's going to have to come to a balance between his past and his present. The rebel in me hopes that includes warrior braids. Finrod needs hugs after that. It was especially heartbreaking to see a bit of the elfling coming out, like the shyness. The other really sad thing was that no one seems to notice him. I think everyone knows how that feels, but for Finrod it's more so. Thanks for another fun read and give Finrod a hug :) Author Reply: We'll see later in the story how Finrod reconciles his past with his present with regards to the warrior braids. Finrod is definitely in need of lots of hugs here, poor ellon. He's trying desperately to fit in and his "peers" want nothing to do with him simply because they have no idea how to treat him. Death is a great divide even after you return from it. It's unnatural for Elves to die and it doesn't happen in Aman, so these Elves just don't know what to do with Finrod. | This chapter left me feeling *really* sorry for Finrod *sigh* Amarië's behaviour was inexcusable! And even more so as she expects him to take up their relationship again. But why should he, after she treated him and his lovely gift so scabbily? And I wish Arafinwë would have accepted the warrior braids fully. He may be right that there are less confrontational ways, but to stop Finrod's first attempt to show that he's changed since he left was not the best of decisions, considering Finrod's current insecurity. Author Reply: Amarie and her friends have a lot of growing up to do, perhaps even more so than Finrod. Arafinwe's decision, however poor it might have been, was made out of love and concern for his son rather than out of a refusal to let Finrod be his own person. He is not perfect (who is?) but he tries his best. | |

| Hmm..I have a few reasons to believe that I'm more than able to understand persons having issues over the facts of life, but this time I'd like to tell Amarië that there is a difference between being hurt and being a cow. If I'm not mistaken, the "noble and kind" Vanyarin spirit was highly praised in one of Tolkien's later writings. Considering that both Idril Celebrindal and Nerwen Artanis have done a not so wonderful job at proving him right "evil chuckle" , Amarië has just managed to dig the hole even deeper. "lol" Because I'm about to be kicked out the computer room, I'll end it here and I'll bid you a nice Sunday afternoon. I hope your Internet problems shall be solved in the near future for I look forward to see a new chapter "Tales from Vaire's loom" and maybe a new fic? I recall a promise you made several months ago about continuing a little (OK, not so little "lol") vignette... Author Reply: Well not all Vanyar are the same and some fall short of the ideal as is true in any society. At least she does improve over time as we well know and that has to count in her favor. There will be a new story for Vaire's Loom later this week in honor of Halloween. | |

| I feel so sorry for our intrepid hero. Why doesn't Arafinwe approve of the braids, I wonder. Poor Finrod trying to be himself and not succeeding very well at being anything but confused. I'm so glad that Arafinwe at least understands him even though no one else does. I still want to slap Amarie and those girls who were at the party. sigh... poor prince! Author Reply: I think Arafinwe doesn't so much disapprove of the braids as he feels that wearing them will just make things tougher for his son who is already having a hard time fitting into Amanian society again. Finrod will have to wait until he has "back up" from Glorfindel before he feels confident enought to resume wearing them. In "Elf, Interruped 1" Arafinwe does mention the fact that the Noldor who went with him to Beleriand during the War of Wrath undid their warrior braids when they returned (those who were actually inducted into the Warrior Society), so no one in Tirion has seen them before this. | |

| Honestly, Amarie where is your head, the ellon who is supposed to be your betrothed gives you a gift and you treat it like it came from some one you barely know. Very poor manners, your Naneth would be ashamed of you and your Atar would be so disapointed in you! Oh, Finrod what are we to do with you child? Rebraid your hair, be Finrod and not Finderato, it is who you are after all. Why didn't your Atar say something when you asked about the beads and gems, you must have told him what you wanted them for? Still at the internet cafr I see, I'll try a few old program C.D.'s this time! More please, Lynda Author Reply: I don't think Finrod actually told Arafinwe just why he wanted the gems and beads only that he did and Arafinwe may not have remembered the warrior braids that the elves of Beleriand wore since apparently he never wore them himself. It won't be until Finrod is reunited with Glorfindel that he will start to assert his "Finrod" identity over his "Findarato" identity and resume wearing warrior braids. | |
