Looks like Miriel is coming round. I wondered if she has chosen the right profession, as her dislike for the people she had to care for was obvious. As for the rumours, it seems that they are on a trail. If it leads to the right people is still to be seen. I guess the people behind the whole business have still some diversions and false trails at hand. The stuff about a connection between Vanyamar and Formenos and elves staying behind to forment further unrest is disconcerting. And they are still or again at work. Their motivation and goal is still unclear, as a second rebellion will shurely not take place. I think the kings must get clarity about those points to get all of the schemer. Author Reply: I think Miriel, like many of those in service to Lord Irmo and Lady Este were simply not used to dealing with the Reborn. They were a new phenomenon in Aman. It took time for them to adjust, but some took longer than others. Clarity about who the rumormongers are and why they are trying to foment trouble is certainly at the top of the kings´ list. Whether they are successful in finding that clarity remains to be seen.

Nambaurato..hm..this name remembers me of something..and since I don't think he'd be the Lord of Mandos in disguise "grin" , it may be about some Amanian warrior with no great love for Finrod Felagund or for the Elves from Beleriand?..Time will tell. You know, all those rumor issues makes me wonder what could be all about rather than who can be behind the plot. Since I suppose that nobody wants anymore to leave Valinor in order to begin a new life, free of..undesirable people, to say it so, I believe there could be only two options: either to make some changes regarding the government (maybe some folk wanted to make a republic in Eldamar, "lol") or to strike against the Valar. I assume they do have a purpose, beside venting out their hate and contempt against the Reborn, the Returnees or anyone else. Now...I'm not too sure what to say. I've to confess that I postponed my review for some obvious reasons. I really don't want either to post another rude or angry review (your work deserves my utmost respect)or to unleash another war, against Ingwë this time. So, I will only tell him, Arafinwë and Ingwion that, even if this is the only accusation that cannot be brought against him, Fëanáro was never a conspirator. Without delving into the topic, to practically accuse him of using pawns (a relative of Indis, of all people) to plot behind the Valar' or the rest of the Eldar's back is both false and abhorrent. I truly hope I've misunderstood their words. Whew. I've managed to refrain myself. "lol" This story is definitely becoming more and more interesting. I'm eager to see not who but what is behind this devious little plot. One thing, though..I believe the Valar should go down on their knees and thank Eru for not getting them stuck with the Secondborn instead of the Firstborn. "falling backwards with laughter" Only when I think about this.. Author Reply: Hi Sitara. The otivations behind the rumors are certainly more intriguing to think about than who might be responsible for them. With regards to Feanor... neither Ingwion nor Arafinwe say that he was a conspirator, only that Ingwe was convinced that his brother Ingoldo was in sympathy with Feanor and disagreed with the Valar´s exiling him and that Ingwe thought that Ingoldo was in contact with someone in Formenos but he could never really prove it. There were other people besides Feanor at Formenos and it is possible that they took it upon themselves to foment futher unrest among the Noldor and other Elves, being more affected by Melkor´s lies than Feanor or others. This will be explored more fully in my upcoming story about the Darkening. And I think you are correct about the Valar thanking Eru that they did not get stuck with us Secondborn. We would have made their lives way too interesting for them. *lol*

Hi Fiondil, It is good to see progess made toward tracking down the rumourmongers. I had my suspicions about the source of the rumours when we first heard about them, and my prime suspects were Valacar and Súlimondil. Time will tell whether we're all looking in the right direction. I know there's a lot to get through information-wise in these chapters...but I miss knowing what's going on in Glorfindel's head and heart during the progress. It's just where I am right now, and there's a lot going on in RL (read "work") for me at this time. So it may be I'm not paying close enough attention. But hopefully sooner or later we'll get some insight into what's going on inside Glorfindel. I think you really spoiled me with all those chapters dealing with Glorfindel leading up to the time of the progress! As always, a big thank you. I am waiting anxiously for the time of the big feast to arrive. Joanne Author Reply: Hi Joanne. As it happens we will get a glimpse of what is going on in Glorfindel´s head in the next chapter, a little hint of what may happen in future chapters. Hopefully this will satisfy you for the moment. For obvious reasons the chapters detailing the Progress is more broad-stroked than the chapters that only concerned Glorfindel but eventually we will return to him almost exclusively. Just be patient. *grin*

Aha! On the trail at last! Author Reply: Indeed they are but it remains to be seen how successful they are in finding the answers they are looking for.

Glad to learn Miriel is behaving a bit better now with the Reborn. About time, if you ask me! Hm ... that bit about these two Amanian on the ship is interesting. Wouldn't be too surprised if they were somehow connected to the group that broke the Serë Valaron, to be honest. Finrod and the others may be on the right track here. That's a bit too suspicious, waiting for the only Tol Eressëan ship and all that. Um ... why do I think Finrod and the others from the progress will be very well remembered by Margil and his father, considering all the trouble they caused in such a short time? *eg* Anyway, things are developing nicely, and I look forward what they will find out about these rumourmongers and how the meetings and the feast will go. Author Reply: Hi Kitty. Yes, I am sure the entire staff at the Blue Dolphin will remember Finrod and all the others very well and perhaps even with fondness. After all, they did insist on paying. *lol* We will see how things go in the next chapter.

At last, they are nearing the heart of those ugly rumors! I think Irmo is partially responsible for the current situation on Tol Eressëa. If he had dealt with the snobbery among the Lóriennildi sooner, the Reborn on Tol Eressëa would have been able to refute the rumors from the Amaneldi with greater confidence, especially the one about the elves from Middle-earth only being there on sufferance. Instead, for every time Irmo said to one of the Reborn, "I want you to have a good life," one of the Lóriennildi was saying "you're a barbarian and we are your betters and you ought to be grateful to us for turning you into a civilized person." They undermined his credibility and authority every time they opened their mouths, and Irmo let this go on for much too long. Consequently, many of the Reborn have little reason to trust the Valar, and no reason at all to trust the Amaneldi. It's no wonder these rumors persist. Author Reply: Ah... blame everything on poor Irmo. *lol* But maybe he does deserve a share of the blame. Perhaps, though, this was done on purpose to bring the matter to a head at a time when there were certain Reborn in a position to do something about it, namely Finrod and Glorfindel, among others. We will see how it all works out eventually.

I suppose Finrod has almost as many tales of the trouble he got into in Mandos as Glorfindel. When it comes to tales of after he was Reborn, Finrod is definitely ahead. He has, after all been reborn for more than a century, but Glorfy has only been reborn for two or three years at this time, I think. But Glorfindel is a competitve sort of ellon... ;-) That rumor campaign is definitely orchestrated by _someone_. And if “Nambarauto” and ”Amandur” are mere flunkies, I am certain that the Kings – and Finrod and Laurendil – are really going to enjoy themselves in hunting down the ones masterminding this thing. And those conspirators are definitely going to _really_ regret their actions. Author Reply: We can only hope, Sunny, that our heroes will be able to track down the baddies and make them pay. *grin* At the very least, they will do their best to counter the rumors with the truth.

I do love a good mystery. I am most interested in finding out who spread the rumors and why. Author Reply: I think everyone is interested. Whether they ever find out who is responsible for the rumors and why remains to be seen.

Very good chapter! A lot to cover, but you did it well, with enough tension to keep me glued to my computer! *g* Author Reply: Hi, Agape. I am glad you found this chapter riveting. Thanks for letting me kmow.

I found myself having trouble keeping track of who was spreading what rumor and had been involved in what illegal activity. I think that is because it has now been many months since I read the first Elf, Interrupted. I wish there were a way to make it clearer to the reader, but I can't think of any suggestions. Sorry. It isn't normally a problem with this story. What happened to the plan to write about the situation after the darkening? Are you still planning to do that? I'd love to read it if you do... Thank you for writing. Author Reply: Sorry for any confusion reading this chapter may have caused you Aiwen. I can sympathize. I even have to go back and re-read the first Book to refresh my memory of people, events and motives. I am in the midst of writing the story of the Darkening but it is not yet in a form that is ready for posting. I am hoping to do so sometime early in the New Year. Certain events in Elf Interrupted need to happen first to avoid plot spoilers. Just be patient. It´s coming. *grin*
