| Eärnur is my hero. He will be an amazing healer. Amazingly he didn't seem to take offense at Finrod's real motives here, which shows a real strength of character. He is a wonderful friend, especially at the end of the chapter. In some ways I almost got the impression that he still feels responsible for his first Reborn. '"Come back to Lórien with me,” he pleaded.' I really like that Lord Irmo didn't just order Finrod around here. The idea that a Vala would plead with an elf to do the right thing, but not necessarily force shows a lot of love on Irmo's part. It's also, I think, a wonderful illustration of life. Thanks for a lovely read! Author Reply: Eärnur, while chronologically younger than Finrod, is emotionally more mature at this point. Finrod still has a way to go before he reaches the same level of maturity he had achieved in his previous life (and over 3000 years of experience). And Irmo knows that he can't force Finrod to do anything against his will, he can only inspire and plead as he does here. To do otherwise is to go to the "Dark Side" as it were. | It is hard for anyone to figure out why things happen the way they do. Each person needs his own time for healing and no two times are the same. Perhaps this will teach Findrod a little bit about patience. (Something I need to learn myself.) Author Reply: Very hard indeed, Tari. Hopefully Finrod will indeed learn some patience and, more importantly, trust that all occurs as it must in the time that it occurs. | |

| On the one hand, I feel so sorry for Finrod for missing his friend so much, but on the other hand, Eärnur is right that his parents - and many others - were or are in the same situation. Oh well, maybe this experience will help Finrod to understand that he has just to have a bit more patience. Author Reply: Somehow I keep missing your reviews, Kitty. Mea cupla. Eärnur, of course, is correct on all counts. Finrod is just being self-centered in his desire to have Glorfindel with him. He is still very immature at this point and hasn't yet realized that patience is a virtue. | |

| The longing we have for those who were so much a part of us is often overwhelming, as I know you appreciate. A sad and poignant vignette, this. But that time approaches for the reunion of these two. Author Reply: Very sad and poignant, indeed, Larner. One cannot help but feel pity for Finrod at this point, yet we know that the time is indeed approaching for the reunion of these two, even if *they* don't know it yet. *grin* | |

| I feel so sorry for Finrod in his lonliness. It seems there should be something that someone could do to ease his sorrow and lonliness. I hope he finds some healing of some kind from this trip to Lorien. Bummer... Author Reply: We will see in the next chapter how Finrod fares. At least we have the comfort of knowing that eventually he and Glorfindel will be reunited. Just not yet. | |
