| Hi Fiondil, I just wanted to post a review about how much I'm enjoying this series! So far chapter 6 is my absolute favorite. The part where Elrohir and Elladan started singing the Rudolph tune and changed the names cracked me up! I can't wait to read the next chapters. | So...which one of them *is* Rudolph? Hehe. Poor Glorfi, getting all that teasing but he is probably used to it, lol. I really enjoyed this, Atto. The twins, the ellith, Daeron, Glorfi and their Mortal friends always make things interesting. Oh, and of course Glorfi rocks. *grin*. He's Glorfi. Tye-melin, Atto! | This story is hilarious! I have read all the chapters there are now (14), but decided to review on this one. (And nitpick a tiny amount, I hope you don't mind.) First, as I am a Finn, this chapter was very amusing for me! The very thought of Glorfindel & Co. having an Elf Academy in Lapland...! :D (By the way, an elf that helps Santa Claus is called "tonttu" and the kind of elf that Tolkien used in his books has been translated as "haltia" in Finnish, so that "Tonttuakatemia" doesn't fit for G. & Co. as well in Finnish as in English, but that doesn't really matter, it's still a funny idea.) It was also funny to see a reindeer called Tapio. What can I say? This fic is excellent and very funny. The only thing in the plot that bothered me was the reindeer taming, because that was too... non-human behavior from the elves, shouldn't every one of the humans have realized at that point that something is very wrong :D? By the way, Elrohir's “You ate Rudolph!?” was perfect! I'm truly looking forward for the rest of the chapters! Author Reply: Thank you, someone! I am so pleased that you are enjoying this story. As for 'tonttu', I merely cite the source of the inspiration for the story. How Glorfindel and Co. decide to translate 'Elf Academy' into Finnish, should they ever get there, will be their problem, not mine. *grin* While the taming of the reindeer was perhaps a bit overdone, I couldn't resist and there may have been a lot of head scratching among the Mortals but the exigency of learning to handle the reindeer and the sleighs probably put their doubts about Glorfindel and Co. to the back of their minds and then simply forgotten. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I really appreciate it. I'm not sure, but I think you're the first Finn to review any of my stories. *grin* | |

| Heeheheheheheh... The second part of the chapter was quite hilarious. I had to deflect some curious queries from my little brother about why I kept laughing so loud. Sheesh. :) Here is the part I love the most: “On Fingon, on Finrod, on Thingol and Amrod,” Elladan whispered and then Elrohir picked up the next line: “Now Haldir, now Lindir, now Glorfi and Angrod.” Just... Just... They were all Elf-lords except Haldir and Lindir! To think that their names were substituted as rein-deers... I admit that I did not find as much enjoyment in the first part of the chapter. But that does not say that it was bad. It was great, in its own way. The reality of the Elves' situation was made more apparent with Glorfindel's reminiscing about his past and his longing. And now it seemed that the story revolved much on him... I thought it would be more about Daeron, since he was the perpetrator of this whole thing. But perhaps Glorfindel's major involvement was inevitable, seeing that he was their leader. Why did Nimrodel and Mithrelas not follow the twins into the forest? They were greatly affected by the surroundings, as seen during the trip to Rainbow Lake Resort. I even thought they would be the first to take off to among the trees. Did not put much stock on the twins' Nandorin abilities as well. I love your descriptions of the trip, by the way. Once again, it felt quite life-like; and since I love travelling... :) I never thought that rein-deer could be that big, though. Is it true? Ah, now we knew something about Nimrodel's and Mithrelas' venture in vollyball... So how was Daeron doing with his softball mates? Hee. Now the twelve of them were a gang on themselves. It was kind of fun watching them interact with each other. Speaking about interaction, the Elves' handling of the rein-deer gave me smiles all around. I still think it was a bit overdone, but the jist of the action was clear, and I was indeed entertained by their various methods. You matched the performances with the general personalities of the Elves, again! That was great. I was caught between snorting and laughing when Nimrodel asked to handle a doe instead. My... And I wondered when anything/one from the mortals' version of Arda's history would come up. I never even guessed that it would be now - a rein-deer! *grin* Wicked. You had the situations and interactions rather life-like here, as if I was the one doing the trips and listening to the host/ess explaining things; and considering the long chapter, that made me quite elated. :) Thanks. I had been wanting to do all those trips and things myself, and now I did, through this stor. - Rey Author Reply: This story is from Glorfindel's point of view for the most part, so we are seeing everything through his eyes, though admittedly I did change the POV in the chapter where I describe the Elves meeting their roommates but that was intentional. I think that it was decided ahead of time that the twins would do the scouting in the woods and report back their findings which is why the ellith did not do so. I am glad you found the situations and characters life-like. That is something that writers strive for. | |

| What a fun day they had. Of course, any time the twins are around, adventure is not far behind. Too bad such a lodge does not exist. It would be a wonderful place to visit. I might even consider going to Alaska myself; especially if there were Elves to be found. Their approaching the reindeer first was a good idea. It helped the mortals to relax enough to be able to handle the creatures. Tari (Dare I say I eat Rudolph's ancestors?) Author Reply: I wish there was such a lodge as well, Tari, and perhaps there is. I have never been to Alaska but I have always wanted to go there. Perhaps someday I will have the chance. It would be way cool to go north of the Arctic Circle I think. | |

| Oh...just *wow*, Atar Fiondil. Right now I'm trying not to fall to the floor laughing at this re-read (the same reaction I had the first time, though I couldn't review then *grin* I have a feeling it'll get me every time!) The Lord of Forests and Lord of the Dead...lol! And Gandalf being gelded...I am sure Olorin would not appreciate hearing THAT one...*snicker* Elves are Elves no matter how much they try not to be! Noldor a strange bunch...hee...I think Peredhil are even worse *lol* but only in a good way! | This chapter was priceless! The song, the reindeer names, and the Elves just can't stop being Elvish, can they? I love the way Glorfi allows the others to tease him, but it is nie to think that the reason these Elves have not faded is that they still have a great enthusiasm for life. Hmmmm. Not sure Gandalf would be very happy about the fate of the reindeer bearing his name. I was a veterinary nurse and one client brought her two cats (Merry and Pippin) in for neutering. The post-op advice sheet made for very amusing reading! Author Reply: Glad you found this chapter priceless, Baggins Babe. | Glorfindel going to the Olympics? Now that would be an idea – if it wouldn't bring so much unwanted attention to him! But even though it may make them a bit suspicious, I can understand how frustrating it has to be to always hide their abilities and identities. It must have been a relief to not hold back too much. Sometimes I am wondering where this story is going and if they will in the end reveal their true identities ... And I felt so sorry for Glorfindel – hopefully one day he will be reunited with Finrod. The same goes for Mithrellas and her mortal husband and children. Hm ... to wake up some trees so that they can give them a warning about the weather is an interesting idea. Could be a real help for the Elves. Love that song about Glorfi *lol* And it seems that's another class the Elves will excel in. Of course, considering that they could ride their horses without bridle and saddle, it's not surprising that they were so good with the reindeer. It was nice to see how respectful they handled the animals! Do I need to mention that I like the idea to use Icelandic names? They're so familiar to me :) But Gandalf – now that was fun! Our dear Olórin would surely feel honoured that he is not entirely forgotten ;) Author Reply: Hi, Kitty. As the story progresses we will see to what extent the Elves reveal themselves to the Mortals around them and under what circumstances. Obviously, it would not be for trivial reasons for taking such a risk; it would have to be for a very good and powerful reason. Glad you loved the song about Glorfi and the use of Icelandic names for the reindeer. I am not sure just *how* honored Olorin would feel that he is not entirely forgotten considering the circumstances, but no doubt he would find it amusing (or one would hope). *grin* | |
