Elf Academy  by Fiondil 19 Review(s)

"but then, I’m not a Man"....uh, that was brave but the right thing to do at the right time. How I wished to have elves in our midst even if I would feel so small in their presence. I´m eager to know how this will turn out and if our six will not get into any trouble with the authorities like CIA, FBI, NASA or something worse. By now even the greatest fool must have recognized that something is different with these six. Hope they will find poor Zack and his family in time...but what I´m talking about with Glorfindel involved..... I liked how formally Daeron adressed the warrior. Lai

Author Reply: Hi Lai. The "Great Reveal" was inevitable and we'll see in Elf Academy 2 how the government gets involved. And with Glorfindel involved, Zach and the others are as good as found. *grin* I thought Daeron's formality appropriate to the occasion. Thanks for reviewing. I greatly appreciate it.

Atya,

Well, finally the Elves have revealed themselves, to a few anyway. Glorfi and co. to the rescue! I know that they'll do well in finding their friends...although I'm saddened that this story is almost to its end. I'll have to find something else of yours to reread between now and EA2...*ponders*

In the meantime, go Glorfi! And Daeron, Mithrellas, Nimrodel, and the Twins of course!

Silly Mortals, going ahead with this when there was a blizzard coming on...

*yawn* Anyway, it's late, Atto, so I think I'm going to bed. It's not *late* late, but I'm exhausted. I went to Christmas in the Park with Naneth today and we did a LOT of walking. It's crowded, believe me. But I think you'd like it...lots of people/groups (schools, Scout troops, churches, families) decorate Christmas trees to put on display, and then there's other Christmas-y displays, mostly sponsored by businesses, like the "Southern Candy Cane Lumber Co." display for instance, put on by Southern Lumber (naturally, hehe.)

They have really good hot chocolate...I looked to see if the Twins were working the stand but it seems not, unless they masquerade as Mortal women now! =P

*yawns again* Ok, time to sleep, lol.

Tye-melin, Atto. *hugs*

Kaylee

Author Reply: Hi Kaylee. Well, this chapter was long anticipated by many readers and even when I've re-read this story myself and know what's coming this chapter still sends chills of delight down my spine. *grin* I'm glad you had a good time with your naneth and enjoyed some hot chocolate. I doubt the Twins were there even in disguise but you never know. *grin*

Thanks for commenting. Tye-melin.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) The elves revealed themselves! And it was Glorfindel who gave them away in the end, lol! That scene gave me chills up and down my spine. I guess it was time for them to reveal themselves, only as elves will they be able to find Zach's group. I'm wondering what will happen after they find them though.

"Are we hunting orcs, my lord, or looking for lost children?"
"I just don't fancy having my hair blown in my eyes." Haha, certainly hope it's only the latter, don't know where the orcs would have been hiding all these years, but you never know...I think Glorifindel is just ready for everything to be like it was eons ago.

"And when an Elf-lord gives his word, he means it. Only death will stop him from fulfilling his oath."
"And sometimes not even then."
So true, especially if the elf lord is Glorfindel!

Heh-heh, kind of behind reading the chapters but I'll get there eventually. :)

Author Reply: Hi, Sulwing. No problem about being behind. Read at your own pace. I'm glad you liked this chapter and the revealing. Trust Glorfindel to do it in style. *grin* Next chapter will show what happens when Zach and the others are found. I'm sure you'll be very surprised at what they find.

Wow!! I never saw that coming. I didn't know if the Elves would ever reveal who they truly were, much less this soon. That had to be a real shock to the Mortals. Can you imagine what it would be like to have someone tell you they were immune to the cold and then see them walking on the snow. I suspect some of the people knew there was something different about the Elves; they just didn't know what.

What fun. I can't wait to see what happens next.

Author Reply: Well, they were bound to reveal themselves eventually given the circumstances. *grin* I'm sure a number of people started putting things together that separately did not mean a whole lot at the time but now could see things in a different light. Glad you're still reading, Tari. Almost at the end.

Oh! Well, I admit that I held my breath for a bad reaction from the mortals... Glad that they did not react that badly, though. The children were most sweet in that case... Always the readier to believe what looks like nonsense to them. I wonder if the Michaelsons would realise what Glorfindel had spouted out to them?

I am suitably impressed by Paul's sense of weather. I guess rangers had their own ways to predict it... but I am still impressed. I wonder if it is true in the real life... LOL But his words brought a sense of deja vu to me. Very similar to one of the peredhil twins!

But now I realised that I had been misspelling Zach's name... *wince* Bad me.

I hope Zach and his group were okay... I wonder what they were experiencing. When I hoped for a good glimpse to the others' experiences, I certainly did not mean this! *grin* But the revellation - the much-awaited revellation - was executed well. I say the Elves enjoyed it immensely! Having their covers blown up by themselves must feel good for them. Plus then they could rescue Zach and his group without the hindrance of their pretences. I hope they would reveal that their names were what their name-tags showed... Their friends deserved to know everything, at least. And I hope Paul would accept the sudden claim to immortality too. I'd hate to lose him!

LOL Rolland's like a petulant child here... *grin*

The tension throughout the chapter was palpable, and I found myself tensing together with the Elves and their friends - their remaining friends, at least. You did it quite well... but I still despise the feeling. Heheh. It was like waiting for my friend to come back from the blizard but knowing that it was not as easy as it seemed! That was horrible...

I first thought that they would use the van. Silly me. Glorfindel's idea to run with that makeshift pack was a bit... risky, though. I hope they encountered nothing unpleasant along the way, or that they would experience it themselves... But knowing them, they probably would. *sigh*

Well. Two chapters more... I hope I can finish this story in one go. Things are getting more and more interesting and I'd hate to sleep on the knowledge that I could have sorted out the big mystery and seen the loose thread tied off! *grin*

Author Reply: I think most of the Mortals were too stunned at first to really react and then when it began to sink in most I think would have felt wonder rather than fear. I am glad that you could feel the tension throughout the chapter. It is the reaction I wanted to evoke in the reader, as if they were there with everyone else wondering if their friends are safe.

Elves to the rescue! Hooray! Now, run, Glorfindel!

Author Reply: *LOL* He'll be doing quite a bit of running, as will the other Elves.

Hi Fiondil,

I just wanted to get a review in before the story finishes. I've enjoyed this story so much during what started out to be a very difficult holiday season for me. I've been dealing with an ill elderly parent (who is much better now) but the first installments of this story helped me through some pretty rough days. I've enjoyed it particularly because of the point of view--one of my favorite elves, as you know. But I also appreciate the way you weave the humorous and the serious together.

And now I wait with all your other readers to see how the story plays out. I'm not even going to speculate on the conclusion. I'm enjoying the story too much, and I trust you to not disappoint. No matter, it will be good to have questions answered and loose ends tied up. But I'm not looking forward to the aftermath. Your frequent updates of this story have me spoiled. What am I going to do with only two updates a week from you?! Lol!

Thanks Fiondil!

Joanne

Author Reply: Hi, Joanne. Sorry to hear you were having a rough time earlier but am glad to know that things are getting better and that this particular story helped you through rough days. Of course, since this particular story was a Yule gift for everyone I really needed to update frequently in order to keep the story within the holiday season (more or less) otherwise it would have been almost Easter before we got to the end. *LOL* But don't worry, there are other stories coming up for you to look forward to.

Yay!! This is wonderful - go, go, go!! I'd use more exclamation points, but I think you get the idea. Is this where Maglor comes out of the wood(work) to guide Zach & crew to Santa's grotto to wait for the rest of the elves? Keep it up, write faster & all that.
Happy New Year, Fiondil!

Author Reply: Happy New Year to you, Rick! Glad you really enjoyed this chapter. As to who comes out of the woods... that remains to be seen. *grin*

Oh, yay, elves to the rescue!! Now they'll just have to avoid all of the paparazzi when they return with Zach and company. :) I can just see them on Good Morning America and Oprah, etc. *grin* But, seriously, I don't see them being able to go back into 'hiding' after this event so I'm anxious to see what happens next!

Author Reply: I very much doubt they will be able to go back into hiding after this, either, Radbooks. How they handle the situation (and more importantly, how the Mortals handle it) will be revealed in the final two chapters.

Excellent chapter! You need to write this kind of tension building stuff more often as you do it well. I think you could pull off a good action adventure story without much trouble at all.

it was awesome seeing the elves reveal themselves in all of their glory. That was so cool. I can't wait for the next chapter to be posted. Happy New Year!

Author Reply: Thanks for the vote of confidence, ellie. I am glad to know that you think I could write a good action adventure story. Perhaps someday I will. Actually, didn't I already write one featuring Aragorn as Thorongil? *grin*

Glad to know you thought the big reveal was awesome. It's what I was aiming for.

Happy New Year to you as well! Thanks for reviewing. I really appreciate it.
