The Findaráto Diaries  by Fiondil 13 Review(s)

Dear Fiondil,

I am so sorry to see this story end. It has been a joy to read, and words can not express how it has lightened my heart over the past weeks. And, while I look forward to reading many more of your stories, this one will hold a special place for me and I am sure I will return to it many times over. You have a wonderful ability to write. Your characters are unique and well rounded, as well as being very true to the sprit of Tolkien's own work. I have so enjoyed sharing in their journeys, struggles and even sorrows, and the opportunity to learn with and from them. You have introduced me to characters and aspects of Tolkien's world that I never imagined.

Thank you for writing this story, and more than that for sharing it with us. I can sincerely say this is one of the best Tolkien fan fiction pieces I have ever read.

He's coming!

See you in Elf, Interrupted ;)

~Hawkeye

Author Reply: Hi Hawkeye. I'm so glad you enjoyed this story and how much it brightened your days as you read this. I had a lot fun writing it and it's one of my favorites as well. I'm glad you enjoyed the characters as well. I tried very hard to make them as 3-dimensional as possible and "real". Thank you for your kind words concerning my writing ability. I appreciate them and all the reviews you took the time to write.

I enjoyed this. Poor Finrod. But I enjoyed reading about characters from Elf, Interrupted.

I know I have read this in its entirety before butter am chagrined that I did not post a final review.

Mr favorite tale is the Boromir with Namo. -- for obvious reasons. :)

But this tale is exquisite!

Author Reply: Gosh, Agape. I never realized I'd not responded to this review. I just finished re-reading this story. I'm so glad you enjoyed this story. Thanks for letting me know and I apologize for the late (very late!) response.

Well, that was an abrupt ending... Is there a sequel?
I enjoy your writing and your sense of humor (especially when it includes the Valar). The characters are skillfully portrayed, and you succeeded in creating an atmosphere following Findarato's moods and maturing.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful story!

Author Reply: Hello, Ninquetari. This is actually a companion piece to my epic, "Elf, Interrupted", which begins with Glorfindel dying and joining Finrod in Mandos where they become friends and then follows Glorfindel's journey from Mandos to Lórien and then being reunited with Finrod. About a century separates the time between Finrod being re-embodied and Glorindel is Reborn and that is the time-frame for this story. Those who have read "Elf, Interrupted" first recgonize the last scene in this chapter, as it appears in "Elf, Interrupted". So, if you want to find out what happened next, I encourage you to read "Elf,Interrupted", beginning with Book 1.

I'm glad you enjoyed this and enjoy my writing and sense of humor and character development. I really appreciate you taking the time to let me know. Thanks. I think if you enjoyed this story you'll enjoy "Elf, Interrupted" as well.

Another great story. I really get into this Reborn business and the implications. I cheered for Finrod, but I could see how hard it was for his parents and especially Amarie. Poor Amarie. It must have been hard to wait so long for your love only to realize he doesn't remember you. And he is not what you expected when you heard he is reborn. But she reacts a bit like a spoiled child herself. She has some growing up to do on her own. Finrod is finally growing up again. But Amarie still has a long wait ahead of her. I now have to find the place in Elf Interrupted where Glorfindel enters the scene.

Author Reply: Hi, obsidianj. Glad you enjoyed this story. It was fun to write. Amarië had certain (unrealistic) expectations concerning herself and Finrod and of course when your expectations don't match up with reality it is rather difficult to switch gears, so to speak. Luckily, her upcoming chat with Námo will put her on the right path. *grin* Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate you taking the time to do so. Happy New Year!

Really love the way the relationship between Finrod and his parents, particularly his father, develops. And it seems Amarië is finally coming around, too. About time, if you ask me.

*lol* Now, the end of the chapter sounds very familiar ;-)

Thank you so much for another wonderful story! I've enjoyed it very much.

Author Reply: You're very welcome, Kitty. I am so glad you enjoyed this story so much. Thanks for all your comments. I really appreciated them.

This was a really enjoyable story and such a nice way to tie the two stories together. I really enjoyed reading it, even though I did a lousy job reviewing. Too much going on in RL right now, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate all of your efforts and thank you for sharing your gift with us! :)

Author Reply: Hi, Radbooks. I'm glad you enjoyed this story and I appreciate you letting me know. I was very happy to share this tale with everyone as I know some people wondered just what Finrod was up to while waiting for Glorfindel to join him. and now you know. *grin* Thanks again for reading and reviewing.

Finally!

And now life in Tirion will never be the same again. ;-)

I have really enjoyed this story, and I wonder what is going to take its place...

Author Reply: No, Tirion will never be the same again, nor will the rest of Aman. *grin* I'm glad you've enjoyed this story and I appreciate your reading and reviewing right along. Thank you. As to what will take its place.... eventually I will be posting the Darkening story sometime later in the year. In the meantime, I plan to post a Vairë's Loom story once a month and perhaps the Muse will inspire me to write some shorter multi-chapter pieces, but that remains to be seen. At least you still have Elf, Interrupted to entertain you in the meantime. *grin*

Ah! He's been waiting so long--and so patiently! It's about bloody time!

Author Reply: About bloody time, is right, Larner. *LOL* Thanks for reading and reviewing. I've really appreciated you taking the time to do so and I'm glad you've enjoyed this story.

I've been very remiss in my reviewing - can only plead work pressures. But I have eagerly awaited every chapter of this story and have really enjoyed seeing Finrod mature. The story stands in it sown right in many ways, but also works wonderfully as back story to Glorfindel. I love your characterisations of the elves and Ainur and how you weave Quenya & Sindarin into the stories. Just wish i could write as well as you do.

Now waiting to see how Glorfi fares on his quest for Elwing & Earendil....and what story you start to post next.

Author Reply: Hi Arwen. I'm glad you've been reading and enjoying this story all along even if you haven't been able to review as often as you'd like. Thanks for taking the time to let me know. I really appreciate it. As to what story I will be posting next, I will continue to post a story to Vairë's Loom once a month and I do have a major project I'm working on right now but it's not quite ready for posting, but I hope it will be by summer. I may do some shorter works in between but that's entirely up to the Muse.
