Elf, Interrupted: Book Two: Glorfindel's Quest  by Fiondil 7 Review(s)
KittyReviewed Chapter: 96 on 2/28/2010
Poor Glorfindel. Seasickness must be very uncomfortable, and I am glad that I so far never had the misfortune to experience it myself.

Admittedly I am glad Glorfindel is not alone any longer, even if he doesn't know Mánatamir. But he seems to be a good guy, and with all the trouble following Glorfindel around, a friend at his side could be useful.

Author Reply: I've never suffered from seasickness myself but I know others who have and it's no fun. And it's a good thing that Glorfindel has a companion by his side. His road is very dangerous and he can use a friend.

I find myself wondering about this wandering Teler, myself, and questioning whether or not he is truly a Maia or Vala in his own right. Fresh meat pies in his haversack, eh? And, now that there are two of them Glorfindel will keep watch?

Glad I finally have time to get caught back up again. It's been a busy last few weeks!

Author Reply: Everyone is wondering about Mánatamir. *grin* We'll learn soon enough just who he really is and what he's doing there.

I find it most interesting that Mánatamir appeared out of the blue, so to speak. Something is a bit troublesome about him. I don’t know that I can accept him saying that he is just a wanderer. It’s a good thing Glorfindel is keeping watch. The shoreline may not be as empty as it seems.

Author Reply: What Mánatamir's story is and how true it may be remains to be seen. We'll find out soon enough, never fear. And Glorfindel is too much the warrior not to post watches even in a place that looks empty and lacking in threat.

Hi Fiondil,
Sorry I havn't been reviewing lately R.L. has been a bit hectic.
I feel for Glorfi, I used to get motion sickness as a youngster plus I suffer from 'good old fashioned sick headaches'(direct quote from my Dr.!) so I know just how he feels, you just want it to end!
Hm, so he now has a companion, just who or what is he, not what he appears to be that is certain!
Gee what an original name for a dog!
Huggs,
Lynda

Author Reply: Hi, Lynda. Don't worry. I quite understand about RL. I'm glad you were able to find the time to leave this review. As to who (or what) Mánatamir is for real will be revealed eventually. He may be exactly who he says he is, though. And hey! Cundu may not be original but it's a good name none the less, far more original than Vorondil's horse being named Rocco. *LOL* Thanks for reviewing, Lynda. I appreciate it very much.

Here I am Atar Fiondil! It has been too long *hugs* I've been reading all along I promise, it's just that I've had ick computer problems/lots of school issues making reviewing difficult.

YAY Glorfi is going to find his answers! But who is this ellon with a dog? *suspicious* My money is on him NOT being a real ellon at all. Orome perhaps? Ulmo? Hm. He did say Ulmo. Maybe he was teasing Glorfi. Or, or or!!! *giggles* Maybe...maybe he's /Earendil/ in disguise! yes! after all, he's a mariner. Why not? And who else would know how to find Elwing's tower?

...'kay, maybe I'm too hyper to make sense. *lol* but I was just thinking that maybe it might make some sense. After all, with Glorfi usually the most insane things happen so why not that?

(I know, I know, as a Teler he'd look nothing like Earendil, but that's why I said a disguise. Or TILION! yes a Maia, why not. :) Hee, I'm starting to sound like I used to when I first reviewed your fics. *lol* sorry for the insane hyper-ness.)

(Oh and I hear you're back states-side now! how are you doing???)

Tye-melin tenn'Ambar-metta, Atar Fiondil.

Kaylee

Author Reply: Hi, Kaylee. Well, as to who Glorfindel's companion truly is, that remains to be seen and of course I refuse to say either way if any of your guesses are corect. *grin*

I'm glad you are still reading and enjoying this. Review when you can and don't sweat it.

I feel so sorry for Glorfy with his seasickness. I guess elves aren't invincible are they?

I am very curious about his new friend. I think it is a maia or a Vala in disguise and it seems he may suspect such a thing as well. At least the guy is good with fire on wet days. That could be handy! And a traveling companion could be just what Glorfy needs right now. Of course you are going to make us wait and see...

Author Reply: No, they're not invincible, Ellie, and a hero without some flaw is rather boring, isn't he? *grin*

As to who Mánatamir is in truth, whether an Elf or Ainu, we will find out soon enough and I promise not to make you wait too long. *grin*

So Glorfindel isn’t a sailor. Fair enough – there must be _something_ at which he is abysmal. But I hope he won’t stay _quite_ so hopeless in a boat. Or else there might develop an AU where Glorfy can’t stand the idea of tossing his cookies all the way to Ennor.
But we all know he _did_ cross over, so I suspect he will have thoroughly stocked up on ginger in various forms before his voyage ;-)
The first Interesting Thing has happened – Glorfindel has acquired a sidekick for his journey north. I assume he is really an Elf – while the Valar are likely to keep close tabs on him still, any Maia watchers are probably more likely to float around unclad. Then again, given the Valar and their interest in him, I suppose anything is possible...

Author Reply: Well, he wasn't seasick crossing the Bay of Eldamar or sailing around Tol Eressëa the way Beleg was, so I suspect that as long as there's no major rocking of the ship he's fine. *grin*

As to Glorfindel's new traveling companion... we'll learn more about him in future chapters.
