| Poor Haleth. I can just imagine how she must feel. It's sad that Inglor is unaware of her feelings. He propably just thinks she's in a bad mood. That he might be the cause would never enter his mind. I think this is why Eru wanted to keep the Elves and Men separate. Any kind of union between them is almost impossible, the loss of which would cause insurmoutable heart ache. Author Reply: Thank-you, Tari. The Elves must grieve deeply when their mortal friend die, as they must all do. How much worse would it be for an Elf to lose their spouse? Haleth does feel horrible at the prospect of losing Inglor. Inglor has had enough experience with Haleth's moods to not pry too deeply because it only makes things worse. He does seem to have learned how to humour her enough to keep her from physical violence...if you don't count the hammers she throws around. Thank-you again for reviewing. | |

| Darn, this is beautiful and so sad at the same time! i like how you draw the opressive feeling of an empkty city weighing on them , and the sadness of if the inmpeding parting for Haleth and the weight of sorrow finally fianlly catching up with Inglor. both are together yet so isolated in their respective grief! Wow. While you keep the light tone in their clashing personalities, it is all now bathed in the inmediacy of an ending, or at least it's what we get form Haleth's pov and it's poignant, to follow her into the sudden void that opens at the prospect of being leff alone and behind in the dull grey world. Wonderful! Author Reply: Thank-you, Perelleth. I wrote a long, complicated reply but the internet ate it. Sharing grief halves the sorrow, but people are often unwilling or even unable to share and this is true of Inglor and Haleth. Inglor thinks, with some justification, that Haleth wouldn't understand the weight of years that rest upon him. Haleth would be absolutely mortified if Inglor knew how she truly felt about him. Haleth likely assumed she would die before Inglor went anywhere. Being mortal while he is immortal, she had some justification for this (although she probably didn't think about it too hard). To suddenly be the person who will be left behind rather than the person leaving is a real kick in the gut. It's unexpected, unwelcome and she'd rather die than tell him how upset she is, let alone why. I once wrote an exam in the very last scheduled time slot. It was very eerie wandering through the residence halls all alone. I was trying to draw on that experience here. Thanks for reviewing. Haleth | |

| Has Inglor not noticed Haleth's mood? Or is he waiting for her to tell him what's wrong? I suppose he just assumes they will both sail off in the boat, but simply forgot to mention it to her! Author Reply: Thank-you for reviewing, Jay. Has Inglor not noticed Haleth's mood? Oh, yes. He's noticed it. He's trying to not become a casuality of it. These two make an awful lot of assumptions about each other. If they were graded on communication, they'd both fail miserably. Thanks again Haleth | |
