So, Bilbo knew about Narcissa? Who knows what would have happened if he had told Frodo his thoughts! On the other hand, he would have felt like intruding into Frodo's privacy. Author Reply: I'm certain that Bilbo realized Narcissa Boffin was as in love with Frodo as Pearl appeared to be, and suspect he'd prefer Narcissa for his lad over Pearl, no matter how much he liked Pearl himself. But he'd not wish to interfere in Frodo's life, not when he realized he'd not be staying in the Shire.

*sigh* Sometimes the keen wit gets overlooked because her prettier sisters make themselves a little more available. (At least, that is what I told myself for many years!) But, in Frodo's case, I think that he is too honourable to look around and 'play the field' when focussed on one lady. And then it was too late. Author Reply: There I agree, Harrowcat. By the time he began to look again the Ring had come to him, and he'd begun to question his own motives and character. Thanks so very much!
