Love that banter about being mysterious on purpose and the difference between fun and mischief. But what is it with Valar and mazes? They have way too much fun with these. And this one seems even odder than Námo's entrance maze, considering its purpose. Seems to be some sort of apparation (or teleportation) point to that infamous grove in Lórien - I take it it was the one in which Finrod confronted the Valar, as that had the same odd feeling. Well, that welcome by the Valar was odd; it was too clear they were up to something, as usual. But Eärwen and Finrod left me snickering. Two tunics and three changes of underwear for a journey many years long, indeed! The friend I'm going on holiday with once told me she knows a woman who is known to turn up with up to 12 suitcases for a week-long holiday because she can't decide what to take! Eärwen can't be that bad, can she? ;-) Nice to meet little Irmondil; he seems to be a sweet elfling. And I like the idea of Finrod playing babysitter :-) Another nice touch was to have them all there for Eärnur's promotion; he deserved it, and I am glad he had his friends with him to celebrate. And what a celebration it became in the end! Poor Ingwion wasn't taking that whole thing very well after figuring out what was going on. It must have been hard for him, hoping and yet not daring to hope to see his twin again (and yay, now we finally know who he was missing, after all these hints!) But he finally got his wish fulfilled, and so many others as well. These reunions were so lovely! It was great to see that so many of our favourite elves got at least some of their loved ones back happy sigh I really like this way to bring the Reborn together with their families. Much better than before; they get a bit of time to get to know each other again, particularly when the memories aren’t there yet, without having to live together already. But most of all, the Reborn know there’s someone waiting for them and they will be eagerly welcomed. That should make them feel better; I remember the uncertainty Finrod and the others felt before they were released. And I’m with Námo here: I just love happy endings. Author Reply: Hi Kitty. I'm afraid the mazes are my fault. I'm a maze freak. I just love them and can't get enough of them. So it's been fun to have the Valar and their mazes. And yes, the grove is the same one Finrod had his confrontation with the Valar over Vorondil. Have to laugh about the woman with the suitcase. I was on a Windjammer cruise once and there was a wedding on board and the bride was telling how when she told one of her bridesmaid that all she needed to bring to the cruise was a couple of changes of clothing, a swimsuit and a pair of sandals, the friend sighed with relief saying that that eliminated one whole piece of luggage just for her shoes. LOL I'm sure Eärwen isn't that bad, but in a society where there is morning wear and evening wear (think of Victorian England), she might be excused for being a bit frustrated in what to pack. I think Ingwion, who we saw had given up hope, was only just reclaiming it again and so this was very hard on him, not knowing if his fondest dream was coming true or not. Of course, it has and now we know the truth. And the manner of bringing the Reborn together with their families even before they are ready to join them outside Lórien is indeed an improvement over the other method. There is now less worry on the part of the Reborn that they will be accepted back into the good graces of their families. Many happy reunions at the end. And we know now why Ingwion was suffering so much. It´s good that Sador has his family back. And again it´s interesting what reborn remember from their former lives. Author Reply: Yes, many happy reunions. And even though we still do not know the fate of Sador's parents and sister, at least there is the satisfaction that some of his family from Doriath has been restored to him. Yesss! Very satisfying. Glorfindel has a purpose, several people have their families back - things are hopping right along. I have an impulse (easily suppressed, which is a good thing) to break into the chorus from Paint your Wagon (I'm on my Way). I really liked the oathswearing with Earendil chapter before last, Eonwe was quite right. By the way, Olwen that wants to marry Ingwion is a different Olwen from Beleg's mother, right? And at some point you're going to have to mention how Beleg got over his acute seasickness - must have been some potent ginger biscuits! Keep it up - you can't stop now! Rick Author Reply: Hi Rick. Glad you liked this chapter and the oathswearing with Eärendil. And I remember that musical. Good song. grin Olwen is the youger daughter of Olwë and Lirillë, named after her aunt who remained behind in Beleriand and eventually became Beleg's mother. As for Beleg getting over his seasickness... I might write about that in a short story or something. It's not something that will be mentioned here. One of my other readers suggested a story detailing the mapping expedition to the South with Falmaron, Beleg and Vondo, so if I ever write such a story, his seasickness will be addressed there. One more chapter to go with "Elf, Interrupted" but there's the Darkening story to look forward to. grin Thanks for reading and reviewing, Rick. I much appreciate it.

How different this reunion was compared to the ones in the past. Everyone was just glad to have family members back. There will be no anger towards the Reborn for having died. I still remember how hateful the Once Born had been in the past. I do hope this is not the end of this tale. There is still so much more to be told, especially regarding Glorfindel. Author Reply: Well, this group consists of Reborn and those closely associated with them, but I think attitudes have changed dramatically among the Amanians, at least with respect to the Noldorin Reborn, and now with the Vanyar finally being released, even the Vanyar cannot complain of unfair dealings with their people. grin Unfortunately, Tari, "Elf, Interrupted" is indeed coming to an end, though I am hoping to write some sequels or companion stories similar in scope to "The Findaráto Diaries", so we are bound to see more of your favorite characters, especially Glorfindel. In the meantime, you have my Darkening story, which I plan to begin posting at the end of the month, to look forward to.

Certainly the chapter was well named! Now--to see what all this MEANS! Author Reply: What it means, Larner, is that we have reached the end of the story except for an Epilogue. What it means is that the Vanyar are finally being released from Mandos, the identity of the person Ingwion has been mourning finally revealed as a way of introducing the upcoming Darkening story, certain events during that time having been hinted at throughout this story (a central part of that story being how Ingwion's twin brother died and why). Of course, not every loose end has been tied up: we still do not know the fate of Sador's parents and sister, for instance, and we do not see Finrod's wedding to Amarië but that is just the way life is... full of loose ends. And of course, it leaves it open for future stories to fill in the gaps.

Count me a bit confused. I understand bringing everyone together, and I love that so many reborns that are part of these families have been able to join them, but in other tales of yours (even EI Part 1) you have reborns met at the gates after they have time in Lorien. Now, all of a sudden, they are re-acclimated? Or did they already spend time in Lorien before being released to their families? Ingwion's joy was wonderful. To get a twin back - he will now feel complete. And Sador finally gets some of his more immediate family back, something that he has been aching for. A nice chapter, tying up several loose ends. But I'm still confused - LOL. - Erulisse (one L) Author Reply: Sorry if you're feeling confused, Erulisse. In point of fact, these particular Reborn have been in Lórien for some little while now, though they are probably not quite ready to be released into elven society just yet. It is something like what happened with Vondo and his family when they were reunited with him while he was still in Lórien, though that was unplanned. The same thing is going on here, and actually, there is nothing that says that the Reborn have to pass through the Gates of Return before being reunited with their loved ones, that is simply the method Irmo has used as a way of symbolizing to both the Reborn, and especially their families, the realities of dying and re-embodiment. The Valar apparently decided to do things a little differently for these particular Reborn and their families, that's all. Hope that clears up some of the confusion. grin

I love it! great chapter, I'm so sad that the story is almost finished, but I know that you will have another one soon. Know that I'll be reading every tine that you update, even if sometines I don't review. Hope that you have more of your short stories, because I'll miss some of the characters that won't be in your next one, especially Glorfindel. Thank you Fiondil. Author Reply: Hi Fantasia. Glorfindel does appear in the Darkening story, though it's more of a cameo role than anything, but I think you will like it even so. What a lovely way to start my Monday. A break in the heat and humidity, a large glass of iced coffee, and a lovely new chapter from Fiondil. Life doesn't get much better. Wow, Namo is really starting to clear out Mandos isn't he? I'm glad for Ingwion but even more so for Netilmire and Sador. I feel closer to them than to Ingwion. I'm sure that The Darkening will help bring him into better focus for me though. One more chapter, and I can sit down and re-read both of the Glorfindel novels together. I've so been looking forward to this. I hope you don't mind, but I've put the first on my Nook and planned to do so for the second as well. If you'd rather I not, please let me know and I'll remove the first. Author Reply: Hi Viresse. What a lovely compliment. grin Thank you. I guess Námo needs the room for others and that's why he's kicking out some of the Vanyar.grin I hope that you will appreciate Ingwion a bit more when you read the Darkening story. I'm rather fond of him, myself. I have no objections to you putting these (or any other) stories on your Nook. In fact, I am honored that you consider this story good enough to grace your Nook. You may want to reload the first Elf, Interrupted book as I have recently gone through it and made some corrections to it, cleaning the text up as much as possible. I am presently doing the same with the second book, and I hope to get done with that perhaps by the Labor Day weekend, so you might want to hold off loading it to your Nook until after that. Holy Valar...Wow, what an ending! I love the high note you finished this on! Yes, yes, I know, not finished exactly, you said one more chapter. I wonder just when Glorfi's parents will be released? When Arda is Renewed? When Glorfi makes it back to Aman? (Or does he? "Elf Academy" comes to mind...) Sorry for not reviewing as consistently as I ought to have been. It's not for lack of interest, I promise I've read every single chapter when it's come out! I am glad you've given us such a beautiful, wonderful story about Glorfindel and friends, Atar Fiondil. It's been quite the ride, EI 1&2 both. I do hope the Muse gives you more about them. Maybe an "EI3: Brothers Apart" sort of thing, trading between Finda in Aman and Glorfi in Ennor? It's so nice to see reunions, though. Especially that one! Looking forward to the Darkening story very much! Tye-melin, Atar Fiondil! Kaylee PS: Still job-hunting. At least school is done with! Author Reply: Hi Kaylee. "Elf Academy" is AU to "Elf, Interrupted" in the sense that in the true Elf, Interrupted universe, Glorfindel returns to Aman sometime in the Fourth Age. I have no intention at the moment of writing an EI-3, but as they say "never say never" and so you never know. I have had plans of writing a sequel to EI in which Glorfindel returns to Aman and must now readjust to life in the Blessed Realm but I haven't put anything down on paper yet. Oh, wow! Is everything wrong becoming right again? Ingalure was Ingwion's twin? Sweet Eru, no wonder he was in such dispare(sp), poor Ellon. Netilmire and Sador have part of their family back, Lirulin and Allasiel and Earnur also have family memebers back even some they had never met? What a joyfull time for all! No wonder the Vala and Mair were all of a twitter! This story must be coming to an end, you identified a stuffed toy, Calennor, what a good name for a dragon! You really are trying to end this story on a high note. Huggs, Lynda Author Reply: Hi Lynda. Yes, everything wrong is becoming right again. And yes, Ingaluarë is Ingwion's twin. We will meet him again in my Darkening story and will learn the circumstances of his death. And now there is but one more chapter, an Epilogue, really, which will tie up some more loose ends and leave a few untied so there will be scope for future tales.
