| Greetings, my dear cousin - so here I am hanging out with my beloved nieces and nephews and I was praising you to the skies to some of them and my second oldest nephew read your story (and I have highly recommended that he read Concerning Sam also) and here is what he said: Excellent story, please write more! And I'm so glad you (Slugger Jnr, once removed) enjoyed Cusp of Victory! I don't know how old you are, but hopefully old enough not to be disturbed by the slightly dark tones of Concerning Sam. Actually, wait a minute ... CoV has a higher rating that CS, so if you're old enough to read this, you'll probably be fine with that. Though I have to say, if you do read CS, please forgive some of the grammatical errors that may pepper the latter half of CS(particulalry Its/It's). It was one of my first fics (written 2 years ago) and I'm still half-way through repolishing those chapters ... As for Slugger Snr (oh, I do like calling you that!), you're a wee star for speaking so highly of my fics to your lovely family! Thank you! | Oh, my dear, dear cousin - what a cool love story you woven here, the only love that was strong enough to endure all it had to and be strong enough to leap with a beloved burden on one's back too, Frodo's words about sharing the end of the world with Sam and both apologizing to each other. So Frodo does remember what he did. I'm so glad there's going to be a sequel for it blunted the horror I felt that they had died right there at the end. Hurry with that, please! Love the idea of lava being a new adversary. Watched a fascinating documentary/dramatization of the destruction of Pompeii and Herculaneum recently. How happy am I that you liked Sam and Frodo's desperate tale so much? Very!! This was one of the most intense writing experiences I've ever had - despite the shortness of the chapters. The need to portray what might have happened in the Sammath Naur had Gollum been killed became an almost living thing in my gut there for a while. In fact, Sam and Frodo aren't speaking to me for the moment after all Iput them through, but what can you do? When the itch strikes, you've just got to scratch until it leaves you in peace ... *shrugs* I love a good documentary - and I am fascinated by volcanoes (always have been), so I'd have very much enjoyed the ones you watched. Maybe I'll nip over to the Documentary channel and see if there's anything similar coming on ... I can't really say when the sequel to CoV will be, m'dear, only that it won't be in the immediate future - I'm juggling far too many other fics (in fact, I neglected most of them in my mad rush to get CoV done). But hopefully once I've got the bulk of them behind me ... maybe about Christmas time-ish? Thanks very much for R & R-ing, my wee bloom, and for nominating CoV for a MEFA in the first place. | Great work! And now we are exactly at the same point in the original story where the eagles are about to arrive, which I hope they will! It was very convincing that the Nazgul made a last, desperate try to save the Ring. Not even the fire of Mt. Doom could have stopped them. But they were too late :-) And Frodo is himself again. Wonderful! Thank you again for this great story! I liked it very much. Author Reply: Hello Andrea, yep, that's everything back on track now. Queue Eagles ... The Nazgūl wouldn't have been able to stop themselves following the Ring (I think) because they're tied to it (and because Sauron would've kicked their collective rumps if they hadn't - oh, wait a minute; no he wouldn't have, 'cos he would've been dead ...). Luckily, their last desperate gamble was pointless anyway, and only served to facilitate their deaths a little faster ... Go Sam!! And go Frodo for being back to (almost) normal!!
