| I love the distinction made between Rose and Sam's telling of the great Quest. That's just how it would have been. I did a little experiment some years ago and read part of Two Towers in the first person, as Frodo would have originally written it. Namarie, God bless, Antane :) Author Reply: Yes, Sam was there. | How lucky he was to be able to visit Bag End and stay for a good deal of time each visit. Love the difference between when his mother told the stories and when his grandpa did--and of course, for Sam, they were what happened! And sad there must be such gaps betwixt and between. I'd certainly love being there with Elfstan! Author Reply: Yes, quite a difference between being there and just having heard about it! Well, the Westmarch was a goodly distance away-- much further than Buckland, for example! But, of course, it at least meant the visits were long ones! | |
